this monitor sucks! Acer sucks! I had this same monitor and after 3months, just 3 months, it had vertical yellow lines all over..mostly at the left side of the screen. I returned it to the acer service center, they told me they'll fix it,but they kept me waiting for more than two months!! In the end they told me that they'll change the unit, they're so sorry. But I didn't accept their offer so I demanded to the retailer to change the item. SCREW ACER!!!! i'll never buy monitors from them!

Yes, you could use an HDMI > HDMI cable or a DVI > HDMI. You just wouldn't get sound, you'd need some speakers as well.

Their isnt any speakers built in, you have to connect your own using a 3.5mm connection. For example my ps3 is connected via hdmi to it, the sound goes through the cable, through the monitor then into the external speakers connected to the monitor

Yeah, but you get them with the monitor, like external speakers that you plug in down the bottom and they will stick out on the the bottom edge of the monitor.

I have both a 244w and 243w and I much prefer the 243w. It's very similar,(24", 2ms response time etc.) But the max resolution for the 244 is 1920x180, but the max res for the 243 is 1920x1200 and it can run 1080p for movies and that.

I have the monitor, doesn't have speakers. It does however, pass audio through HDMI. Mine only came with an HDMI cable, not a DVI -> HDMI like Maxi's did; which is wierd.

I tried out this Acer 24" which is the 241w. A slight difference between the one I have and the one Maxishine shows. It doesn't have the extra HDMI port, only one, and doesn't have that audio port.

I don't think it will beat my CRT monitor on text sharpness or colors, but this is a very nice monitor for the money. I got it on sale at Staples for $279, just couldn't pass it up. I haven't noticed any ghosting at all and the monitor is at max resolution and at 60 Hertz.

I sincerely suggest the samsung t240 next for you maxi. I think it will please you just as much as this screen if not more, especialy with it's friggan beautiful asthetics, damn I like when its off almost as much as I do when its on. Not to mention it will nearly blind you if your not careful. Anyway nice review.

I love it! It tool me awhile to fiddle with the settings to make it look just right. Here's the settings I use: Mode: User Contrast: 50 Brightness: 45 Color Temperature: User Red: 78 Green: 77 Blue: 95. These settings got me the best image

This is a great monitor by Acer and the fact that is Full 16:9 HD and 2ms response time with huge contrast ratio, makes this an awesome choice for gaming and movies, you won't get black bars in top and bottom while playing movies in 1080p, PS3 or Xbox 360 unlike in higher res (16:10). Also there's the Acer H243Hbmid 24" which is about the same model as this one but the viewing angle is 176 degrees which is great, compared to most LCD TN panels with 160-170 viewing angles.
