  • where can you get cheap military surplus ammo for the k98?

  • @callofdutywawmaster1 you cant anymore

  • @murpheysmuskets so pretty much if you want to shoot a k98 at a range a lot you should pretty much just reload your self?

Also another question, im looking for a good shooting k98, not really historically accurate gun, but a good shooting one, i know of mitchells mausers, they look nice and do they shoot well?

  • @callofdutywawmaster1 I would check gunbroker 1st. Mitchells are way overpriced. Also surplus ammo is still available it just isn't cheap anymore. I;ll give you an example 5 years ago you could buy 1,000 rounds of Turkish 8mm for $75

  • @callofdutywawmaster1 u might want to look at a gun show they have a wide range of rifles, some are good some are not, if your a good bargainer that can really help with the price

  • @callofdutywawmaster1 its not to cheap but u can get it at southernohiogun/dot/com

  • Your right when I got mine first thing I did was go shooting and its not bad

  • i know its wierd it deep and i love it but if you dont hold it tight it will jump in your cheek

  • simple. it makes that booming sound because it more of an artillery piece than a rifle. i roll with the 6.5x55 personally.

  • if you have a later model of the weapon it means there mite be small cracks in the mechanic s of the gun wich were intended by the maker to alaw the gas of the burning propalent to escape. that is also the reason the gun could be less efective at high raqnge. The germans needed a gun that was eseyer to fire in urban situations thats why they could afford to lose the range and not give away the position of a loan sniper.

  • Two questions, does the M48 mauser perform the same as the K98, and where'd you buy your k98? thanks

  • Sexay Rifles

  • the first and only time i shot a mosin my ears were fine even thouhg i was expecting ringing. hope im not goin deaf young

  • it has to do with the larger bore Dia and the lower presure.

  • dude you'r fucking stupid just because it's "not loud" does not mean it won't damage your ears a .22 will make you go deaf

  • how much is a k98?

  • @wendyfern100 2 to 300

  • God I want a k98 but it's just out my spending limit.

  • @XxkemoTHEemoxX If you're looking for a cheap mauser, get a surplus yugoslavian. I got a bent-bolt M24/47 for $175. Practically the same rifle, same bolt, same round, just a few cosmetic things. They're much more common so they're a lot cheaper and some have never even been fired. Accurate and rugged, definitely a good rifle to pick up

  • That Turkish ammo is garbage. The Yugo stuff is awesome!!

  • The K98 don't love you.

  • Nothing but love Brother.I love Mauser 98Ks and Mauser 98s.In fact it the cartridge and rifle has seen more combat as long as it has been in production. The best one so far I have shot is the Persian VZ 29 with its high front sight. This is the most flat shooting Mauser of them all.

  • i call bull shit that gun is FUCKING LOUD when i was out at the range i fired a round , EVERYBODY stopped firing and looked at us and the rangemaster thought the gun malfunctioned but it didnt

  • when i saw the safe i said WTF

  • Aw, man! Where'd u get 'em? :D

  • Were did you buy yours? I'm trying to find one online. not worried about historical accurcay but i want a German K98 that i could possibly refurbish like yours. Are yours German made actually?

  • Proof*

  • @BigMek456 Proff of quality of Germans Bolts, eh?S

  • what kind of rail and scope you use?

  • the super sonic crack will still fuck your hearing ;)

  • @frechproff anything will fuck your ears up the ONLY and i mean ONLY caliber than won't fuck your ears are a .22 short even then after years and years you will slowly go deaf

  • Wasn`t this one of the best Bolt Action Rifles made for be issued as a Standard weapon for an Army around the world?

  • @CSnakeV The Bolt action of this gun is used in weapons since 1898 to this day.

  • @BigMek456 My CZ .22 uses this bolt design (only smaller :P )

  • @Cafferssss A .22 Mauser? Aww, nice =D

  • @BigMek456 all i shoot is rabbits, theres no need for anything more powerful. Do have a relic of a 12. bore shotgun (of which i do not know the origin), but I rarely use it.

  • @CSnakeV Definitely THE most copied bolt in the history of firearms. The Springfield ".30-06" was close to the K98 and the Fed Gov't was paying mauser royalties during WWI because it was really almost a copy. Simple, rugged, accurate, it was the best rifle around until the semi-auto M1 garand changed things.

  • @Ten7d5 Yeah, and After the M1, the Assault Rifles came, making bolt action rifles useless, Still are good to be issued for Snipers, though.

  • @CSnakeV I was gonna sell mine for an M1 but a bolt-action is a good doomsday weapon. Simple design and limited moving parts means less to break/wear out and I dont have to be a gunsmith to fix it.

  • @Ten7d5 Yeah, and bolts are more accurate, silent, and sexy, IMO.

  • Yugo*

  • Your right. Never really thought about it. And it doesn't have a sharp recoil impulse it's just a slow yet firm push. I am picking another one up today. A you go capture.

  • Come on shoot that bastard...!!!!

  • Have some one shoot next to you with it and it might sound a lot louder, if your focusing on a target you can get auditory exclusion, the same thing hunters and people in fire fights get.

or it could be that the powder is burning up in the barrel and your not getting a large muzzle flash. I'm no expert but when you shoot a 22 caliber pistol it's louder than when it's shot out of a rifle because the powder burns up in the barrel.

  • @murpheysmuskets of course remove them

  • The 98's relative quietness i think has a lot to do with it's relatively low chamber pressure. 30-06 and 308 both almost double the 8mm in max chamber pressure at 35,000 PSI vs 60,000 for -06 and 62,000 psi for 308.

  • I don't know what you're talking about. I shot one round without hearing protection.

    Never...Again...

  • its loud still will damage your hearing even if they dont ring. use earplugs dude please.

  • @MrJapaneseboy1111 I agree its a great firearm but I just wont do it ill stick to my mosin

  • @MrJapaneseboy1111 Not to mention the Jews fought for their independence wielding these very rifles. History it seams is not without a sense of irony.

  • @murpheysmuskets I agree its a great firearm but I just wont do it ill stick to my mosin

  • @murpheysmuskets True but I just dont like the idea of putting my hands on a rifle that was held by a coldblooded murderers I just dont like that feeling I am aware that it was the nazi that pulled the trigger and im also aware that mauser has been around alot longer but I would of stoped manufacturing but then again its unlikely I would of known about the holocaust.

  • its got a good boom.it makes my ears ring but i get your point.its less harmful on my ears than my 12ga from the shooters position...but when i let my fried fire this it hurts like hell not being behind it.

  • Nice home defense.

  • not loud??? my ears ring after every shot with my k98 (yugo ammo)

  • germans. germans couldn't make a crappy firearm if they wanted to.

  • the reason that it is "quiet" is because of the kind of powder that is in it and the load of powder but mainly the barrel length and it doesnt have a compensator on the end of the barrel to redirect sound that and that its a bolt gun so all the sound is going out the muzzle and not twords the breech and muzzle like the m1 garand

  • Possibly the round is slightly sub-sonic but that defies logic. What's the muzzle velocity?

  • @majorjockitch 2,900fps, definitely not subsonic.

  • beautiful guns! how did you get the scope mounted on the one? I'm new to mausers and thought only certain models could accept scopes.. unless you drill and tap the receiver which I would hate to do on an antique gun.

  • did anyone notice there is not 2:04?

  • packed and strapped, kind feeling like rambo.

  • those kar98's more look like kar98k's,

what is the difference that make those two or that one different from a kar98k??

plz reply as soon as you can, i would like to hear what it is.

  • @Sn1p3rsh0t2012 believe its the k98 came out earlier and was a tad longer. k98k was a little shorter and the main ww2 service rifle

  • @Sn1p3rsh0t2012 the "K" stands for kurz which means short

  • @Sn1p3rsh0t2012 The K98 is a carbine variant of the definitive German G98 rifle the main rifle of the German Army since the early 1900's, which was used by the Boers in the Boer War and the Germans in WW1. The K98 came out in WW1 and was designed for trench raiding and was slightly shorter. The K98K (K for Kurz or short) was shorter still with a curved bolt and was the main German rifle of WW2, starting service in 1935.

  • otra pregunta cuanto sale el K98?

  • Y el M1 Garand tan bien es muy buena =D , di me que opinas sobre el M1 Garand

  • yeah I love it 98k Mauser is just awesome. But I gotta say I am getting a Swiss K31 and that might eeeek it out lol. But the Mauser is combat tested and is legendary.

  • I very much agree, my Yougo Mauser doesn't make very much noise at all... I do have a question for you though, what rounds are you running, I noticed you had FMJs, are you reloading yourself or are these commercial rounds?

  • The rifle without the scope has a very nice and unusual color for K98, is it original or refinished?

  • The k98 is one sweet rifle, extremely accurate beautiful smooth action, and 70 years later they still preform flawlessly.

  • AKs are the same way. I know they are not high-power, but they are pleasant to shoot from the hearing perspective (provided you don't have some kind of muzzle brake)

  • my favorite rifle ever its so smooth

  • I love the K98 as well. They are hard to find in Canada, and are pretty pricy. I bought an arsenal refinished VZ 24, wished I would have got the Yugo mauser. I took the rear sight off and put a scope base and a 3-12 power handgun scope on it. Good for hunting and range shooting I do. The surplus ammo is non existent here so I bought some at the start, and I reload ever since. I remember shooting my deer, not near as loud as a 30-06 or a 300 win.

  • Kar98k = Karabiner 1898 kurz or short model 1898 carbine

A shortened version of the G98 = Gewehr98 = Rifle model of 1898... designed for the more mechanised troops of WWII

It is a very solid rifle in either configuration...

  • I love the k98 i have three we have a ww2 surplus one with no scoop a sporterized stock one with no scoop and a scooped one that been converted into a 308 round my grandfather left me and they are all great but that 8mm something special about it. your very right its not loud like you think for that powerful of a round my 308 seems wayyyyy louder but k98s are amazing and yours are very beautiful stocks on them nice video!!

  • aww i wish i lived in the US X) love the gun

  • Cool where did you buy it from

  • are those milsurp rounds? cuz the federals are louder, but i agree with you, i can fire more rounds through a k98 than an ak47 for that very reason.

  • I shot 7.64mm blank rounds in the kar 98, would they be louder then the 8mm?

  • I just have one thing to say... JESUS CHRIST THATS ALOT OF AMMO! lol

  • @Sasquatchsanders Most of its already gone...

  • @murpheysmuskets no doubt dude, gotta love the mauser

  • @Sasquatchsanders

    Not really.

  • @epk1942 They would agree as long as it isn't being shot in their direction.

  • @epk1942 That's pretty disgusting indeed.

  • where can i get one?

  • @whisperingdeath308 gunbroker

  • @epk1942 Oh I new it was.... I just didn't know if you knew the Jews were armed with them. Its funny how Ironic life can be.

  • @epk1942 Do you realize that the k98 was an essential instrument to Jewish freedom??? After the formation of Israel they were armed exclusively with the k98. They removed the swastikas from the receiver and stamped in the star of David. History it seems is not without a sense of Irony.

  • Garands an Nagants are better, but this is still amazing. You rock.

  • @DoodRanchGD Garand is arguably better, but K98 is CERTAINLY better than a nugget.

  • @Makingnewnamesisdumb well just in my opinion the mauser k98, is the best rifle design ever made, this is abvious because most hunting rifles auction is copyed fromthe mauser.

  • @zero48411 I think you mean "action." But modern guns still have more features and something like a garand and all of the battle rifle technology that came after is certainly better.

But it's not hard to be better than a Nugget, which was mostly the point of my post.

  • @Makingnewnamesisdumb dude the nagant, if thats what you mean doesnt even come close to a k98 mauser in anyway, and modern guns are sooooooooooooooo gay.

  • @zero48411 That's what I was saying.

  • @zero48411 you don't even know the moa of a mosin so you can't saw it does not even come close

  • i like K98, how to buy one of them ??

  • The K98 is a top quality firearm.......One of my favorite.....

I killed a deer with my Nazi marked byf k98 last week, and

I will tell you the power of this rifle is awesome..........

And yes moderate noise and low recoil doesnt get better

    than that!........

  • In that case you made a really good job, cool rifles :) i spent ages on mine..and they only look as half good..

  • Hi did you varnish them stocks?

  • @redzed40 No, I spent lots of hours rubbing them with a silicon cloth.

  • holy crap look at all that ammo!

  • The Rifle K98 used by the Filipinos during the Philippine-American War of 1899!

  • in my opinion the k98 mauser is a very loud rifle but it may just be because i have sensitive hearing.

  • @zero48411 Oh its load. But nothing compared to something like .223/5.56

  • @murpheysmuskets hmmmm yet agine i have to disagree ive hered the 223 yes loud but not as loud as the mauser yet agine just my opinion

  • @zero48411 Welcome to non-compensated weapons! I assure you that the report of both the Mauser and the 8mm is like any other of equal or greater energy. The difference is, with other military firearms the sound isn't deflected back towards the shooter like it is with compensated weapons. The M1 Garand has the same (if not greater) pleasant appeal to it (again, without a compensator). So does the 1903 and Nagant. Take the muzzle brakes off and you'll see what I'm talking about.

  • i can never find a k98, im happy with my butchered mosin nagant at the moment....

Looks like a great rifle tho, if only all the nazi collectors didnt buy them all

  • @Taud check gunbroker

  • @Taud i got mine from gunbroker for $250 last September, russian capture, almost all matching numbers, you can tell shes been in combat.

  • @himmler251 Yeah you are a nazi collector too, lol thats why you have it also if im not mistaken gunbrokers an american site and its hard to get anything shipped internationally and have it at a reasonable price too

    I appreciate the help tho

  • I have three and keep adding them. Best bolt action rifle ever.

  • My next rifle will be a k98 rifle...

  • I wish I could find an actual Mauser.

You got some nice rifles, man.

  • @DanTheVikingr Thanks, Check gunbroker

  • Next time I shoot my K98 I would try it without ear protection. Maybe I put a video on Youtube :)

  • your rifles look amazing, id be afraid to ever shoot it in fear of damaging it the slightest bit, cant wait to see some exploding watermelons

  • @XvChriisvX me too....;) its looking like next weekend though :(

  • @murpheysmuskets awh =(, i might make another .22 video tomorrow if everything works out, im gonna test a 'suppressor' method and see if it works

  • @XvChriisvX plastic bottle???...Anyway not to discourage you from doing it bc its tons of fun...but...Make sure your not breaking any local or state laws before you upload the vid.

  • @murpheysmuskets nevermind about my .22 video, everyone says youll get in trouble if you do a suppressor video so i wont do it XD

  • @XvChriisvX Lol, that's what I just said...

  • @murpheysmuskets lol yea, sorry about the 2 comments at the same time, i dont think it will break laws here but im just not gonna risk it xD i might just do a .22 long range vid or something, its about time for me to bring out a AK or AR tho, i think .22's are getting old for me idek

  • @XvChriisvX Bust out a Krink! They are getting a load of views these days!

  • @murpheysmuskets yea i know, the AK i have is a MAK 90, but i can bumpfire it, is a 12 gauge blowing jugs up a good idea?

  • @XvChriisvX Sounds good to me...Or you can try to out due my 200yard shot with .22lr on an Oreo cookie ;) lol

  • @murpheysmuskets haha thats gonna be pretty hard, i got maybe 200 yards to work with, i know its more than 100, but the only optic on a .22 i have is a red dot and it was sighted in at 50 yards or less, but its worth a try, im probably going to need a scope to match up what you did tho, you did amazing on a windy day like that at 200 yards

  • @XvChriisvX Lol..thanks

  • Great looking rifles. I almost was able to buy one in pretty good condition until I found out the guy selling them would at the last minute replace stuff like the trigger for really poor quality stuff.

  • Such a great rifle :-)

  • Is that a repo scope?

  • @SpencerAK74M No...The Rifle is a k98 that was reworked as a Sniper for the Bosnian War. The scope and mounts are made by Zrack.

  • @murpheysmuskets Ahhh, very cool! Talk about history....

  • when you going to shoot those watermelons

  • @compaqivan07 In about a week or so. Got to plan way ahead for stuff like that because it always ends up taking the whole day...

  • i do have a k98, also a G98, however i'd prefere my .303 NO.4 enfield or a 91/30 anytime tbh

  • @maddymann8 I don't know why people wanna hate on the ol' nagant action rifles. They might be cheap, but damn... So nice!

  • @jamoore3192 amen brother !!

  • Perhaps the low muzzle velocity when using heavy loads is the reason why it's quiet.

  • First time I ever shot mine I used Winchester rounds and my ears rang for a bit. haha, But now I am used to shooting without ear protection. Since I do WW2 reenacting. now... Shooting an MG42 is louder LOL

  • @myYTwashackedbyanoob Have you ever shot surplus ammo?

  • @murpheysmuskets Yeah that's all I use now days. And it's still equally as loud. Haha, Not as loud as my surplus AP rounds for my M44 though. Lmao

  • A lot of it has to do with the length of the rifle I bet. My 28" barreled 6.5-284 doesn't hurt my ears either.

  • I've shot a Yugo Mauser with old Turkish ammo that made my ears ring, but I have sensitive hearing. Conversely, the loudest gun I've ever fired was an 1895 Chilean Mauser in 7x57 with a 17 inch barrel. That thing was horrible. Never shot straight, either.

  • @DangerousDan762 Yugo Mauser's are carbines more or less, with shorter barrels than the k98.

  • @DangerousDan762 I had the same rifle, but I don't recall it being too loud. Mine didn't very shoot good either, which is why I sold it. Plus 7x57mm is too expensive.

  • Interesting, I have never had experience with the 8mm....I have a '62 Remington 722 .308 which is lovely....lol

  • Murphey, could you elaborate a bit on the "Sweet spot" of high powered cartridges? I know it will do everything a .30-06 will do, but I'm not a real bullet expert.

  • @something01992 That's actually a really big misconception. 8mm Mauser is quite a bit more powerful than 30-06. In actuality its closer to .338 Mag than anything. I have vids demonstrating this in the works. (penetration and velocity tests) Hopefully up in a week or two. What else would you like to know?

  • I can I have one? You have two, lol. After I save up for my VZ58 next on my list is a Swiss K-31 and then K98
