  • Malletech CN-14?

  • BRAVO!!!!!

  • okay so every time i go back to this i find minor differences in the chords she plays compared to what i play.

  • Great playing..

  • It is great!!!! i'm learning how to plat this piece and it's harder than i thought...... Also, i can't get over the fact that there is like 14 keyboard instruments all around. It's so cool lol

  • Absolutely brilliant! I can't figure out how to play this at all

  • @ Headgehog90

    A lot

  • How much does a Marimba cost ?

  • When I got this solo like some weeks ago I was like "oh pretty simple and awesome"

When I saw at what tempo was this I was like OMG D:

But I can Do it in a month! :D

  • great job... im jealous... i can tell you put in a lot of time.. because im STILL PUTTING IN TIME

  • I love this intepretation... im looking for sheet music too

  • @rosskay you can get it from steveweissmusic

I ordered mine off of there, and it just came in today. It's only about seven dollars, but the shipping is almost as much as the music is.

  • @johndeeredrummerboy hi, thank you very much, I already had it for about two weeks now, learned everything but the last page <3

  • @johndeeredrummerboy I struggle with site reading I figure out songs really fast by ear, so i made an effort to not to 'listen" to others play much so I coudl figure it out via site reading... haha. didnt happen i just ended up memorizing the notes again.

  • @rosskay Haha, whatever works I guess. You must be pretty good though if you've learned eighty percent of the music in only two weeks. Nice job.

  • @johndeeredrummerboy oh thank you very much :) there was a time i was an accomplished percussionist for various bands and drumcorps ... after not having access to instruments for a long time, certain health issues, honestly did not think I could play again :)

  • I love the fact that your mallets are actually yellow, this piece is awesome :)

  • hey, hi, yes. this is pretty cool actually. i wanted to play this as a solo at my school but my percussion coach said it was too easy. one small bit of advice while using stevens grip; you still need to use your wrist in order to gain optimal sound. i don't know if it's just the quality of the video throwing me off but it looks to me as though you're using a lot of upper arm. it's all in the wrists! :) but good job!

  • to be honest i wasnt expecting a good performance, you should probably go for a more complex solo. Great job

  • You act like playing with four mallets is a big deal. It's a bit unprofessional :\. Other than that, good performance.

  • Wow..amazing.

Added to my favorites, and LIKED! :)

  • Same as below less are more wrist I used to do the same thing and it's just makes it harder. Also I think I herd some wrong notes between :50 and :56. In that area. Hope it helps.

  • You're playing it a little too fast to be honest, don't speed it up for the next video.

  • Try using less arm and more wrist.

  • That's really excellent, thumbs up all the way!

  • 14 people gave up trying to play this fast

  • excellent!!! good job!!

  • Great job, I love your name, or at least the 69 part

  • Comment removed

  • clunkclunkclunkclunkclunk

  • someone correct me if there's a marking on the piece which says otherwise, but personally i think this was a touch on the fast side and definetly doesn't need to go any faster. good that you're working on the dynamics now and well done - good performance! :)

  • she is very very good and is very delightful to watch.

  • High School all over again

  • This song is usually SO annoying to me after hearing it year after year after year, but you make it sound so beautiful! The only thing i'd suggest is a little bit softer mallets.

  • @TailosThe3 stop showing off...

  • Very nice!! I'm packing up my marimba, and lost the sheet music to this piece years ago so thought I'd look this up, I remember when I was learning this piece back in high school. Still love the sound of the marimba just don't have time to use it being away at college. Hopefully the local high school can use it rather than it sitting in my basement. Excellent job!

  • You play really well, but I do have a suggestion: you use a lot of arm and very little wrist in some areas. Using more wrist will make it easier to play faster and make it easier to play louder. Other than that just watch out for playing on the nodes, get everything note wise set (you made a few mistakes but it wasn't that bad) and you're golden.

  • have to preform this at the Lee Howard Stevenson's marimba camp next week. Wish me luck!! :)

  • is it weird that i learned this in like 3 days X_X

  • What marimba are you using

  • Muito bom

  • " im playin' yellow after thee raaiiiiiim by mitchell peteerrrrrrs and im using Foour mallets! lol very nice job

  • Woah... I'm learning this and am now scared about how fast you played that 3rd page bit... o.O Is that right or did you just play it faster? I hope it isn't that fast!

  • im only 12 and i am playing this for my nyssma solo do u have any advice for me

  • I just learned this and played it last night I added a much better ending by ending on the scale on the second page

  • Very nice. One suggestion though...when you shift to the upper manual, either go all the way until you are on top of the resonators for the best quality of sound, or be on the very very edge of the key. I noticed you mostly played on the edge of the key, which is fine, but a lot of the time, you were on the nodes, causing a lack of sound from the instrument. Again, just a suggestion. Great job! Don't forget to bend the wrist. :)

  • hardest song i've ever played as a freshman (highschool) lol. it took me about 3 months to learn this

  • awesome job ive played marimba for 5 months, i dont know if my opinion matters but this is great. good job

  • doesn't look easy! BRAVA! ;)

  • you sped up a ton at 1:03, but good if it's your first time. I learned the piece in one non-serious month. for my sophomore year, i hope i get to play afta-stuba and Dream of the cherry blossoms. keep up the good work!

  • great video! i can't tell if its the angle of the camera, but when you play with your left hand, you tend to close up the gap made by your index finger and thumb

    kepp playing :]

  • mmmh mami

  • Wow that's a long song. I could probably play that. Thanks and good job

  • Whoah, is that at the TCHS?Cause it looks exactly like it.I went there to try out for beginning percussion..Nice song btw.

  • @300otterclancats oh nvm

  • sound great!

  • yellow after the rain with yellow mallets! :P

  • one if the best versions on youtube sounds very nice

  • I just preformed this for solo and ensemble, and got a 1! ...Oh, and I'm an eighth grader. :P

  • This is really good! Good job! :) My friend is learning this solo now. I'll upload it if I get a chance.

  • Doing this for solo and ensemble :/

  • played that in 7th grade and no im not asian

  • Great job! True talent!

  • I'm guessing that you're highschool girl. This piece is too easy for highschool..IMO..

  • Great job. I just picked this solo up this year and I'm a Junior and i want to nail it for my college audition to USF. I was reading your comments and your like me haha all excited because its your first 4 mallet solo haha. But yeahh I'm a tenor player and I kinda want to go to college and be in percussion ensembles. So this is a good start. Great job again.

  • Oh my God!! You should definitely take out the part that says it's not perfect. I am a sophomore in college and that was also my first four mallet piece and you definitely did WAY better than I did at my recital. Amazing job. Mitch would be proud.

  • Good Choice!

  • Hello! I do not know how long since you uploaded this video, but I'd like to make an indication (fault that I had xD), the first eighth notes have to go to the same tempo then once it enters the melody. Very good recording! =)

  • what kind of mallets are you using?

  • This is really good for a first four mallet solo. just one small thing try not to use so much arm it would flow more if you use your wrist

  • wow i'm learning that piece right now and i am really slow you were amazing! and to do it from memory was even better

  • Gotta love those Permutations

  • Nice job. I just started learning this piece. It's my first 4 mallet solo too. Hope I'll be able to play it as well as you :-D

  • how long did it take to learn this??

  • im 12 and im learning that song

not as easy as it looks...thanks!!

  • very nice job

  • that was extremely well-played. congrats, i loved it. =)

  • I'm about to play this song as my first four mallet piece!! :) what kind of mallets are you using?

  • Omg, you're so good. That's SOOO good for your first 4 mallets piece :)

  • Wow, you just started playing, I'm learning 4 mallets right now, and it is hard as hell if you are doing the right technique. Can you give me some tips, I noticed you have really good technique. PLS.

  • I've got until February 11th to learn this for a solo and ensemble......anyone got any tips?

  • @spongetot22 same here bro, practice every day. ROFL dude if you have a piano at your house. Learn the notes at your house so at school you can just play the mallets and not worry about rhythems or notes

  • @spongetot22 Yeah. Don't play this for solo and ensemble. So many people play this thinking they'll be a classy percussionist and play a 4-mallet solo! I recommend the Musser etudes.

  • @junfun086 Hah, I'm playing it for S&E, since tt was the best piece I could find and learn quickly. I'm not primarily a marimba player...but I feel sorry for the judge. They're probably all sick of hearing this piece.

And who thinks they're a classy percussionist because they play this at S&E? It's got to be the most overused piece out there. I actually feel bad for using it. xD

  • @iheartbrandon69 just wondering, what knid of mallets were you using, im going to be playing this and need to get some mallets, just wondering how hard and stuff like that...good vid by the way

  • less arm maybe....the best ive seen tho

  • You got this down!

The only part I can never get right is at 1:19

  • @GhostVenom051 Your not the only one...

  • Nice!

  • This is great! One of the few videos of this piece that isn't plagued with wrong notes.

  • Its pretty good, but for your age Its a bit of a realy easy piece.. I payed this piece as my first 4-mallet piece at age 13.. But otherwise i cant comment anything else cuz i dont have a video of proof...soo dont take my comment too serious

  • Dude, your freaking awesome! I didn't hear no mistakes! Sweet! :)

  • is that rosey from oak ridge high school

  • My drum tech just gave me Waves by Mitchell Peters. (Also my first four mallet piece) good job, btw, sounds good. :D

  • wut school is this

  • Great job!!!! That was also my first four mallet piece. I am fifteen years old and I am also in the pit in my marching band. I am now on my second piece ( Rain dance) and will be continuing on my journey of marimbas!!! haha. seriously though keep working at it!

    - Drew

  • very nice performance! I'm a total Pit Nerd! My main advice for you right now is to watch your third mallet during the 1,3,2,4 chord section. I'm learning this right now with you! Good luck :D

  • hey real good job, im a freshman and my teacher told me that i would be playing yellow after the rain for solo, and i was scared shitless. but yeah nice job

  • im pretty chuffed xD this was my first four mallet piece and after starting it 2 weeks ago iv nearly perfected it ^_^ my middle finger has one gross blister on it though x(

  • wow that was really good and not to mention that a hot girl played it!! my college ensemble is doing a full version of YATR and it has like 10 different parts along with bass and drumset!!! when we play it ill record it and put it up for you to see!! and great job!!!

  • nice work!! love how the semiquaver bit in the middle is really easy, yet looks so awesome :D

  • ......wow.....

  • I use the burton grip even though i play only marimba and not a single bit of vibes. I find it easier to play with and less clumsy. I just finished learning this song. Do you use burton or musser grip?

  • @supermarimbaman I like the musser grip its easiear to change intervals qucikly and gives me more flick but i mainly play vibes so it could be that

  • @quaileen123 yeah if you play marimba stevens is where its at lol but musser is great for vibes

  • You go girl! Nice runs. Beautiful percussion room by the way.

  • tht sounds pretty perfect to me. whether or not thats how it was MEANT to be played, i like it better than the original! ive heard my brother play it many times

  • Drumline chicks are hot!

  • this is awsome im a freshman in highschool and this is the first piece on 4 mallets ive played. im on the permintation part after the run and i learned it in less than 4 hours of practice. im hoping by the time im in college ill be able to play mutch harder things than this. to what i heard you only missed a few notes and need to work on balance of all the mallets i hear the 1st mallet sticking out in parts other than that great job!

  • Great job! I am preforming this for my solo & ensemble competion this year, and I'm in 8th grade!

  • @Pyrovine not gonna lie

    THAT is impressive

    best of luck

  • CHIQQA WHAT SK00L JU AT?

  • @66bfree Are you retarded? It's okay, you can admit it.

  • Nice Job!, i would reccomend Rain Dance as your next solo, it is a fun piece, and challenging

  • Nice Job!, I'm currently doing Rain Dance by Alice Gomez, I would reccomend it for your next solo

  • in spain there arent a girl wt plays percusion beauty than you

  • Not too shabby... as the poster said below, that down stroking as to go

Try using your wrists more rather than so much arm. I know it's hard, but it will pay off later, it personally took me a while.

Your permutations aren't bad for someone who doesn't do pit, but, they too can use much improvement.

    Overall, good work!

  • just try to work on down stroking but otherwise great job

  • I'm a sophmore in pit and I just finished learning Yellow After the Rain. I've always wanted to learn this solo and it sounds great. This would be my third four mallet solo along with Prayer and Rain Dance. This is my favorite one.

  • exellent

  • It's not perfect? It's fantastic!

  • New account bassdrumfanatic16.

no videos yet, but it's a more appropriate name and that's where i'm uploading

  • @iheartbrandon69 OH!!!! Someone is using Stephen's grip lol. I'm not sure what the grip I use iscalled but I am attempting to play on stephen's grip, and it's really difficult so cudos ^.^

  • @iheartbrandon69 you broke up with brandon? haha

  • @iheartbrandon69 I guess you don't heart brandon anymore. :) lol. sorry...

  • Hey nice job! And you're useing the same mallets as me =P! I just got done learning this peace. I also know Rain Dance by Alice Gormez, really good peace to put in a bunch of dynamics. But on the last part with the fourths are very bothersome. Got any tips for me?

    P.S. -I'm in pit

  • this girl is smashing this piece!!!! Very Good!!!!

  • let me guess you are in the pit. lol keep it up the pit is always over looked.

you better go to DCI...... PHANTOM REGIMENT ALL THE WAY>>>>>>

  • @crateman1942

actually. i've never been in pit.

bass my freshman year and snare the rest.

and I loooooove Phantom Regiments bass line!

  • @iheartbrandon69 Oh my God! I love you too! Well I'm in pit, but this video was 100% amazing, I am planning on doing this for solo ensemble if buddy doesn't, so, anyway great great great job. And I love how the quality of the video made it look like the mallets were going everywhere. And just awesome!

  • @iheartbrandon69 ya there bass line is amazing.

  • @iheartbrandon69

for DCI the Caviliers have a great Pit and so to do the Bluecoats

for WGI Music City Mystique all the way

  • @crateman1942 Dude I love you so much right now!!!!!!!!!!!! Everything you said was like what I have been telling people from band ALL SEASON!!!!!!! God bless you man! I loves you! (I don't know who you are, so I don't love you, but you know with words and all xD)

  • @xXKaycieeXx lol its ok i use to be in pit. i played marimba too. and everyone looks down on you like you suck well just to let you know some of the best percussion players are in pit. pit got me to being the percussion captain at my high school cause i can play 4 mallets. keep it up. ill see you in DCI

  • @crateman1942 Awe thanks so much lol, I actually went to the DCI sem-finals last night. Very good bands and I was drooling over the technique from the pit. And that would be awesome to be in DCI

  • @crateman1942 I think I love you lol

  • @crateman1942 BLUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU is so much better but i agree pit is everything and over looked everytime and never get the credit

  • this makes me want to become a percussionist

    ... oh wait I already am :)

  • please tell me that you're going to be a percussion major! that was incredible!

  • your pretty and so is the music

  • listened to so many versions of this piece on here, absolutely love it... and honestly, I enjoy yours the most :) tis goin on the ipod.

  • WOW! amazing skills! Great job!

  • Why yes! I cannot do that! Mad skills to say the least!

  • Great Job! I was just given the sheet music for this song, and I've only been playing keyboards for like 6 months now, and I'm terrified of the last page!! haha Hope I can get it as good as you did!(:

BTW, I think using less arm and more wrist when you play will help you a lot, it helped me, but old habits die hard for sure! haha(:

  • yamaha 4500

  • This is fantastic!!! Amazing control, very accurate, beautiful playing....

  • I swear, I never get tired of this piece. Even though every percussionist in my school district can at least play part of it, I never get tired of it

  • Comment removed

  • Fantastic job :) Im just getting into marimba solo pieces now, and you don't see many younger people with your talent anymore... not to mention, you've got the looks, too :P although you must be quite a bit older than me if this is in 08, Im only a HS Sophomore haha but anyways, keep it up, girl!

  • @Chris311B

ha yeah... im going to be a freshman in college now.

    thanks though:)

  • HER FIRST 4 MALLET PIECE ! WTF ! THAT WAS AMAZING ! your technique is simply outstanding ! and note accuracy was extreamly high aswell ! im jelous ! can u please try teardrops by mitchel peters ! Youd sound lovely playing that too ! its only 3 mallets to but there is similair 4 mallet versions of it !

  • best one on youtube!

  • That was awesome, I'm so jealous of your technique :)

  • where u at

  • On a side note, I noticed there were a lot of really rude comments from the younger male crowd on here. While I certainly don't think these comments were appropriate, you could avoid many of them if you had a less unfortunate screen name.

  • @Marimbalogy

i wanna change it but i dont know how!

    i was young and immature.

    do you know??

  • Wow! That was pretty hass ;) Most aggressive version I've every heard.

  • I would absolutely love to get the chance to play this piece again.

1:20 to about 2:06 took me FOREVER to get right. That part hurt my fingers a lot.

I got a 1 on it at Solo and Ensemble when I played it my 8th grade year. ((:

    You played Wonderfully!

  • i've watched this video well over a dozen times and still amazese me

  • 2 Mexican Dances is by Gordon Stout by the way

  • Wow, nice work for being your 1st 4 mallet piece and only 2 months work. Careful on note accuracy in the moving chordal section. Would love to have someone this motivated in any of the marching lines I teach. keep working, start looking at 2 Mexican Dances for a bigger challenge when you are ready.

  • out of all the videos i've seen on youtube this is by the far the best one i've seen great work! btw do you plan on taking music on as a career?

  • i played that piece for my college audition....you actually did a really good job. great timing.

  • I did this for my solo this year(freshmen), and im actually taking it to state :D this is pretty good,, good job :)

  • i got an f when i played for a grade LOL

  • i tried to learn this piece but i gave up
