Those free market ideas of looking the other way and letting the market correct itself FAILED. 8 years of Bush tax cuts made it even more impossible to pay down our debt, now Obama just passed the same unfortunately.

No president is capable of doing that, most of them are mere puppets. They have other people do it and it would be virtually impossible to hide any budget costs. Ultimately it is the c.b.o. that informs us of any presidents budget, they're an independent, non-patisan branch of government.

In addition to masking skyrocketing budget growth at the Department of Defense, this process has allowed the services to treat budget supplementals as a piggy bank for new procurement. People always look to Obama's first year in office and that budget he was operating under and say 'see spending exploded!' Well here is how budgets work. The 2009 budget was passed in late 2008, just like every yearly budget. Obama was operating in 2009 under the last Bush budget. Plus TARP was Bush.

Civilian contracters that had desk jobs in offices in kuwait including their secretaries had their own $50k SUV that they never drove and the government leased them for $2000 a month. The point is the more the company spent the more they got.

@LJPpro We harken back to Bush because he was given a budget surplus and then ran up spending. Bush and CLinton both let Greenspan sit there and ignore the dangers of predatory lending by banks that weren't CSA certified and thus the housing market crashed. Those free market ideas of looking the other way and letting the market correct itself FAILED. 8 years of Bush tax cuts made it even more impossible to pay down our debt, now Obama just passed the same unfortunately.
