Prior to their independence one ethnic group was favoured more than others, thus sowing seeds of resentment, so when independence finally came, old hatreds resurfaced, thus igniting civil wars etc.
However we are wasting money on programs for elitely built and structure countries, such as japan and Germany who HAD social structural backgrounds. Democracy and true national leaders are responsibilites.
In order to have these responsibilites, Africans must start small. it is certainly unreasonable to give a 5 year old an semi automatic. Just as it is unreasonable to give countries with no prior state structures: Weapons, Money and Government. They will abuse it, it is simple primitive thinking, baby steps, Rome was not built in a day.

I'm not a "religious scholar" by any stretch. Most religions secs have there extremes. However, it seems that throughout history anytime Muslims have entered a political situation there only solution to a problem is to kill anyone who tries to oppose them. Its kind of weird how no one talks about who is doing the killing in Darfar,ISLAMIC EXTERMEST! Yes the"religion of peace"is showing its true colors again. I have a plan to end the violent slaughter of innocent people, and it would take much less time and save far more lifes then the UN's "10year plan". Lets all pull our money together and buy some AK-47's for these poor people (they're $30 a piece over there). It would only take about 4-5mil for guns and ammo. Talk is cheap, war ends conflicts.

I'm not a "religious scholar" by any stretch. Most religions secs have there extremes. However, it seems that throughout history anytime Muslims have entered a political situation there only solution to a problem is to kill anyone who tries to oppose them. Yes, I know Christians and Jews don't have a perfect track record; but with Muslims this seems to be there only track record! On one hand there are modern Muslims who oppose violence but don't seem vary eager to do anything about it.

I really encourage a documentary called, "God grew tired of us," and another one called "Refugee Allstars." They both show the typical Africans caught up in the fighting, not just the soldiers. The first also shows that much of the world thinks that America is a place filled with hate and violence. It all depends on what the media focuses on, doesn't it? Foreign press often has stories about incidents like Columbine or shootings.
