Okay, so maybe not the best dance moves, BUT Ben does have rhythm, and that's what really counts ~ am I right, ladies?? ;) I don't think he looks too uncomfortable; we're just not used to him being without his bass guitar in front of him. If you notice, in lots of CARS videos, he "rocks" back & forth this way too, but with his guitar. (I like that!) ...great song, and David Robinson and Greg Hawkes look pretty sweet too!!!
I am old enough to remember when this came out.I couldn't stop laughing! This is such a dorky video! The Cars were always the cool geeks but this felt like a geek selling out, and dressing up like a cool kid!And hiring a bunch of brain dead models to act like they like him! When I heard that Ric Ocasick "helped" set this video up, I immediately figured he had sabotaged Orr as a joke("Really Ben, you look great!!LOL").Why is he wearing a knife? To commit suicide with after watching this vid?
I am a fan of Ben Orr, and this song is not too bad. Pretty catchy and very 80's. But the video is another story. My goodness--can Ben look any more uncomfortable and stiff in the vid? His awkward attempt to groove to the music is abolutely cringe-worthy, and the leather get-up just doesn't seem to suit him. He doesn't look comfortable at all being front and center on his own. I think the video should have been story-driven as opposed to performance-oriented. Just my opinion.
i think ben would have been better standing behind his bass...this song reminds me of beat so lonely by charlie sexton...I know during this time he was with this girlfreind who helped him write the lyrics of the lace album..who is to say what effect that relationship had on him at that time...at any rate..im 35 and a bass player and in 2009 i want to get some sort of ben tribute out..i even live in his birth town and there is no remembrance of him here...but i remember..RIP ben
@ny4000 I agree. Some people just aren't comfortable with it. Like, with The Beatles, George Harrison was an amazing song writer, but he preferred to be in the background because it was just more comfortable. I absolutely love Benjamin Orr, but my goodness, indeed. I think this video, especially with the leather get-up, that it seems a bit diva-ish.
I have always been fond of this one! Benjamin has a lot of talent. It's sad we will never get to hear anything new from him. He has such a beautiful voice!

When it comes to rythm, well a little bit challenged, but I guess you can't have everything, right?
I still love his voice and he is grate looking.

@ixtaxiomara He was my favorite of the CARS, speaking of the CARS, isn't that Greg Hawkes on the Keyboards and David Robinson on drums?
THECARS7879 2 months ago
@THECARS7879 Definately Greg Hawkes is playing the keyboards and I think that you are right about David.

I wonder if the MTV intern that labeled this as "To Hot to Stop" got canned for the typo? Missing Benjamin -- and I have this on vinyl.
