USA: Approximately 5,113 active and inactive nuclear warheads (and close to 3,500 warheads retired and awaiting dismantlement)

Well, what Obama (and evidently yourself) doesn't realize is that to those of us who love our country, "Whether we like it or not" has no place in that statement. Having "a dominant military superpower" is a result of what the founding fathers structured for this country to acquire and what our great American heroes have sacrificed life and limb for. If some silly leftist doesn't understand that we can live with it but for a president not to understand it is inexcusable.
