Then they quickly become the hardest, to recover from loss of control of the car for whatever reason at those speeds, and to overcome the fear from something like that happening, in both THAT race if they manage to save it, and all future races at super speedways.

@DivadYrrab3019 The only reason stock cars barely get up to 200 at the super speedways is because of restrictor plates, without them, they've been proven to run at 220 mph around Talladega. NASCAR races road courses too, just thought you should know that. Oh yeah and by the way, isn't NASCAR pretty much the only racing where drivers actually shift anymore anyway? You know, with a clutch instead of two paddles and a computer?

@SirKowalski666 a sequential gearbox is not a bad thing for racing, neither are twin-clutch paddle shifters, as it allows the drivers to focus on the road because these technologies allow the cars to go accelerate through their gears much quicker. also many sequential gearboxes still have clutch pedals.

The best thing about ESPN now is Alan Bestwick calling the shots. Everyone else SUCKS, even Rusty Wallace. Rusty's an awesome racecar driver- same with DJ- but they both suck at commentating a race. ESPN has been an epic fail ever since they started broadcasting races again in 2007.

There is no such thing as a "proper circuit". Nascar is hard, hell any motorsport is hard. I prefer Nascar not because i think its harder to drive in than F1, no i watch it beause i like RACING and Nascar has a LOT of racing every lap all the time. F1 requires more skill in my opinion but i cannot get into it because the cars are so spread out and there are less passes, but thats just me. Have an open mind about it. You should be happy he still drives in a real sport, a motorsport!! :D

I agree, ESPN coverage of Nascar is very hard to watch. I put it right there with Fox though. I can't really stand to listen to any of the announcers on either station. Speed Channel does the best as far as commentating and their video coverage of the entire field and pits is excellent.

I wandered if many people caught this tidbit from Montoya, he snuck it in there but I think he made his point. I'm sure the guy with the mic felt like an idiot.

ESPN has an excuse to be dumb though, they are trying to market NASCAR to a very broad audience of general sports fans so they have to dumb down their coverage. This sucks for hardcore NASCAR fans such as myself becuase its like a Madden comment like: "the key to this game is scoring a lot of points on offense and preventing the other team from scoring".
