Yeah this game rocks! Instead of walking around running and gunning like Halo, you actually have to use your brain and figure out how your going to kill the next dudes. There is so much open-ended game play in here it's unbelievable!!
You got it wrong...it's a great game because it's so atmospheric, and the moral questions and mystery are also integral to it's greatness.
But Halo...a run and gun? Maybe if you play it on the lower difficulties, but Legendary...that's a whole different story. "Run and gun" doesn't characterize Halo at all.
I have beaten Halo on Legendary. Sure you hide behind a wall to refil your health meter more, but it's still run-and-gun. Just look at online. Shoot the person, get close, melee attack them. That's what what most ppl do online about 80% of the time.
I don't completely agree with you statements about Halo; I think it's a terrific game.
But I do see your point...for video games in general, though not Halo in particular. Most games are unimaginitive and linear...even Halo, admittedly, is completely linear. Choices affecting how the game as a whole go rather than just "do this and live, do this and die" really make BioShock what it is...a deap, imaginive, atmospheric and thoroughly amazing game.

Get Bioshock. Halo 3 is overrated. Love CoD4 but hands down, Bioshock is THE best. I didn't think anything could come near Gears Of War but this game will definately remain a classic. I can't say anything about Orange Box but it looks pretty good.
