Jennifer and Derek won and should have! The last time she danced at all was at the rap of "Dirty Dancing"! Right after she was in a horrible car accident and has lived in pain for decades! She never thought she'd dance again! You would never know it by her grace and beauty on the dance floor!! Way to go Jennifer!! Both for you, Derek and the Memory of Patrick Swayze!!

She did have dancing experience...Her father is or was a director etc and most of her family was Broadway involved,in movies,etc...I think that if she grew up in that environment she took dance lessons when she was younger and so forth...Whoever says no she did not know how to dance before is blind by all the facts.She did and she just got better on this show or rather polished her skills after maybe not dancing for a while. Fair? Not really.
@ics002 You my friend, actually are making assumptions based on facts, not stating a fact itself. Was she in a Broadway involved background?? Yes. But does taking a few lessons (not yet proven if she did or not) or dancing in a movie over 20 years ago (camera faux, may I add, and mulitple takes) make her unfair to be on the show? Hardly.
Really wish people would stop saying Jennifer had dance experience. Granted she knew the Mambo from DD, but there was never any mention of her doing much more than that and some ballet when she was a child. Can't see how all that would help her unless she had danced Mambo in DWTS, which she didn't and she didn't study ballet all her life. But Kyle did deserve 2nd place 'cause he definitely had talent and improved and, of course, was much better than Palin there, a lot better.
As good of a dancer as Jenifer was, she had an advantage due to the fact that she had previous dance experience. The fact that Kyle can go out with no experience and score just as well, shows his talent, drive, and ability. THats what i want in a champion.
@carlton921 I loved Kyle too, he was great, especially for someone with no experience. However, I have to totally disagree on Jennifer's experience. Dirty Dancing was the only thing she danced in. Other than that, nothing really. Totally agree about Kyle though :) I think Jennifer made an awesome champion and so would have Kyle.
Worse dancers have made it and even won because of fan voting...it's a popularity contest...if it was just a dancing competition they wouldn't let fans have such an impact on the outcome! Plus, it wasn't tea party people...Ballas' fans corner the market on power voting since Team Sabrina balloon burst LOL!
This season's not going to be the same without Derek. It WILL give other pro dancers a chance, but in the end, the performances overall won't compare to some of Derek's. It will probably end up being Maks vs. Cheryl vs. Mark anyways, seeing as how they were also the popular votes. Or worse, they'll bring back his sister. I just never liked her. lol.
Now that Derek's taking Season 12 off, that means unless Julianne comes back, Mark will have to win to to continue the Ballas-Hough legacy on the show. Can't wait to see Derek back for Season 13 though!
Kyle may have placed 2nd to Jennifer, he may have scored 9's & 10's with the judges, entertainment-wise, yes. But in terms of technique, musicality, lines, & performance, he was far behind Jennifer. He had a good fan base that's what got him tto the finals. Otherwise, there were other better contenders than him. Their cha cha routine @ the finale is the same routine they did on their weekly.Mark & Derek did some modifications to theirs.
@whill1031 If Sabrina hadn't been kicked off due to people's assumptions that she didn't need their votes, she probably would have had a chance to get to the finale and win. Mark would be the first male pro to have 3 victories, BUT had things turned out that way and earning a spot in a fourth finale and then getting 3rd place would have been embarrassing (especially if the celebrity is someone like Bristol.)

@wildcat2114 Maybe. Who knows? Kristi didn't really deserve to win either, but I'm ok that she did. I didn't really care who won season 8. People who won who should not have are Brooke and Nicole. I remember in season 3, I wanted Mario to win (the only one with a perfect freestyle who did not win). I wanted Mya to win season 9, but I was okay that Donny won (after how many seasons of Kym either getting the bottom or second place).
@66SonicFan1 Well she did deserve to win and she didn't. She deserved to win cause she worked really hard, but she had her figure skating training to fall back on. Figure skaters know how to dance already (they have to in order to do well in their craft). I wish Evan had won though in season 10. I actually like figure skaters better because they don't say they know how to dance. :)
@starrbeatlesqueen i'll admit the traing could of given a unfair skill, but when has the show seem to care about that, whether people have an unfair advantage of or not i go by high verage (and i'm glad bristol didn't win), happy for her she made final though
@whill1031 yes Jennifer did have a lot of battles with injury (which she constantly complained about). I actually didn't know who Mya was before S9, but she seemed sweet and I like Dmitry (starting with So You Think You Can Dance S2). I didn't like Sabrina so much when she was on, but after her shocking elimination and recently watching my favorite performances: her cha-cha and rumba, I feel bad for her, regardless of her high scores.
@starrbeatlesqueen Well the problem is the gimmicks themselves yes. They should keep them to a minimum because this is an amazing show without them. The only eras I really like are the era dances (90s,80s,futuristic,etc.) and story dances and I could even do without the story ones. The other gimmicks are not that great, it turned Season 11 to a cluster. SCD doesn't have quite the energy as DWTS in my opinion, but I think both shows are going to be around for a good while.
@whill1031 I do too. I just wish they would also quit putting people who already know how to dance on the show cause it takes away from the others. I didn't really think it was fair to have Jennifer, but she was only in one dancing movie (BUT the movie was from 23 years ago). It really wasn't fair when Nicole was on being a Pussycat Doll dancer and all (Kimberly Wyatt, a member of that group is a judge now on Live to Dance). Brandy and Mya (S9) didn't gloat about their dancing backgrounds. :)

This is just my opinion, but Bristol got screwed! Bristol deserved to win, Kyle technique-wise was probably the worst overal, and Jennifer is pretty much an professional dancer. Bristol got lower scores then she deserved thoughout the show.

@55jrmoney Hm? She didn't do a lift. I think you may be talking about the part where she's over at the judges table. Derek supports her and she falls off into his arms, it looks like a lift, but in true movement, not really, he didn't actually pick her up, but I can see where you got that.

@55jrmoney You can feel free to have a theory, but that's just silly to be honest with you. She danced in a movie, that's it, and it was such basic steps it's not enough to get uppity about. Basically the same as Brandy, who did the Viennese Waltz in a movie, she did nothing complicated whatsoever that would prepare them for the show. Jennifer got 7 30s because she simply deserved them. All of her dances were excellent I thought.
@55jrmoney Well in that case, a lot of people have the experience she has. If dancing once gives you experience, anyone who has danced a choreographed routine once is considered a dancer. In marching band we did a routine to Thriller for a Halloween thing, guess we're dancers now lol!

@55jrmoney I thought Sabrina was good, but she was overated just a bit. Too much boom boom boom with every mood she made. That cha cha she did was great, but more of a 24. Nicole wasn't quite a pro compared to Sabrina, she actually taught little kids and she was a professional in hip hop dancer by career. Nicole did a hecka lot of dancing, but she wasn't quite a pro. She was overscored though sometimes as well, as great as she was.

@55jrmoney Oh yes they do lol! Haha, if you want to go for it! Derek wins everytime he gets in the finals because when he's there he always has the best partner. Brooke was obviously the best, Nicole and Evan were pretty close, and Jennifer and Kyle were also very close. Don't forget he's been cheated a couple of times though. Jennie Garth should've gotten to the finals, Lil'Kim should've made it a week more, and Joanna should've been in the finals, but higher fanbase pushed all 3 out.
@55jrmoney Really can't do anything about that. Common misconceptioin: People think you can always tell who's good and who's not. That's far from the truth. I thought Brooke and Joanna both would suck, but Derek's teaching made them both great. Majority of the time, it's the pro that controls how good their celeb partner is. A student can't grow without a good teacher. I'm sure they've tried to give Derek tough partners, but so far, he's done well with all of them lol.

Mark couldn't do much you're right, and he is a good teacher, but Bristol wasn't a COMPLETE trainwreck, she did get overscored several times, but for someone with NO performance skills at all, she wasn't bad. Derek could've maybe gotten something out of her, her Cha cha and Paso Doble both showed pretty good dancing and potential.
@bella3987 The first cha cha she did in week 1 just showed potential, it still wasn't that great of dancing lol. Her cha cha in the finale however, was really good other than really akward new yorkers and...umm...inappropriate gestures.
@66SonicFan1 Haha, in some parts it's actually kinda good he was on a season like this. If it was season 8, he wouldn't have been has high on the leader board, therefore increasing his chance of elimination. Also, there were plenty of people who weren't near as good as Kyle even in the beginning, so it gave him lots of chances to improve. He was also a very liked celeb due to his bubliness, which was nice compared to constant drama from other couple's.

If this is what you need to get into the finals for dancing with the stars, even my 13yr old sister can win it.....

Oh please some of these comments about Bristol are just ridiculous. The way I see it, who cares how much support Bristol got because of who her mom is? Who wouldn't need it after how much crap she gets because of who her mom is? And I don't even like her mom. That's just hypocrisy.
People are being a bit harsh on Bristol imo. This was by far her best dance, even though Kyle and Jenn still topped her. Other than her new yorkers being VERY akward, she did a great job.
lacey is clever. she used the same choreography for kyle's first cha cha, then again for their group cha cha (team kristi), and then again for this instant cha cha. go back rewatch all three of lacey and kyle's cha cha's and you'll see she used the same exact choreography and moves for all of them.

Jenn was practically a pro b/c she is a trained dancer. She cried her way to the finals. Kyle was the most improved dancer especially since he had NO dancing experience in the first place. They say Bristol improved through out the show but i couldnt see it. Florence should have stayed longer than her. Brandy should have been in the final 2 along with kyle and jenn.....this was sooooo RIGGED
@cuteboi891 Can't stress this enough. She was not a pro dancer! If I was a doctor in a movie, does that mean I'm a professional doctor? No, of course not. Jennifer did hard work and fought her way to the finals, yes, she could've tried to be a little more closed to the cameras, but in no way was she crying all the time. The packages are one minute of about 5 days of rehearsal. I do agree however, that Kyle was very fun to watch, and improved a lot, I would've been ok with him winning.

Kyle & Lacy were consistently the most entertaining couple. They were a perfect match for this show. They could have won if Jennifer wasn't great. Bristol did get consistently better.

Ever since this opening segment aired I can't stop thinking about it, Pink's song "Raise Your Glass" pumping while they're all doing these intricate spins on the dancefloor, it is a very special moment!
I really liked everybody. But jennifer put out so much more effort. Kyle was fun to watch though. Dont hate on jennifer just because she has more dance exp, she also had tp put way more effort because of the pain she was put through. Kyle has definatley shown a ton of improvement but jennifer is a bit better,

I think Kyle and Jennifer were both underscored for this. Jennifer was my first pick to win so I'm happy she did! However, I wouldn't have been upset at all if Kyle did, I really liked him as well. Bristol did very well considering she's a complete non performer. This was her best dance, she actually danced really well in this (even though the costume wasn't so flattering on her). I think it's totally wrong to attack any of those 3, they all did their best.
really interested in exactly why some prefer bristol and kyle over jennifer. she continuously did moves neither would ever dream of attempting, she was able to work without forcing her partner to compromise his own skills, and she did it all with finesse, grace, and emotional investment. she deserved to win 100%.
@robertrosado I love Bristol because she tried really hard and was the underdog and came a very long way. And kyle for his energy. That being said, I would never have expected either to beat Jennifer for the reasons you listed. I was moved when she cried over Patrick Swayze and she did over come so much!

Kyle may have placed 2nd to Jennifer, he may have scored 9's & 10's with the judges, entertainment-wise, yes. But in terms of technique, musicality, lines, & performance, he was far behind Jennifer. He had a good fan base that's what got him tto the finals. Otherwise, there were other better contenders than him. Their cha cha routine @ the finale is the same routine they did on their weekly.Mark & Derek did some modifications to theirs.
Happy the best couple won in the end!

@whill1031 If Sabrina hadn't been kicked off due to people's assumptions that she didn't need their votes, she probably would have had a chance to get to the finale and win. Mark would be the first male pro to have 3 victories, BUT had things turned out that way and earning a spot in a fourth finale and then getting 3rd place would have been embarrassing (especially if the celebrity is someone like Bristol.)

@starrbeatlesqueen Technically, is things were that fair, Mark would still only have 2, Kristi and Sabrina. He didn't deserve to win with Shawn. Gilles blew them out of the water.

@wildcat2114 Maybe. Who knows? Kristi didn't really deserve to win either, but I'm ok that she did. I didn't really care who won season 8. People who won who should not have are Brooke and Nicole. I remember in season 3, I wanted Mario to win (the only one with a perfect freestyle who did not win). I wanted Mya to win season 9, but I was okay that Donny won (after how many seasons of Kym either getting the bottom or second place).

@66SonicFan1 Well she did deserve to win and she didn't. She deserved to win cause she worked really hard, but she had her figure skating training to fall back on. Figure skaters know how to dance already (they have to in order to do well in their craft). I wish Evan had won though in season 10. I actually like figure skaters better because they don't say they know how to dance. :)

@whill1031 yes Jennifer did have a lot of battles with injury (which she constantly complained about). I actually didn't know who Mya was before S9, but she seemed sweet and I like Dmitry (starting with So You Think You Can Dance S2). I didn't like Sabrina so much when she was on, but after her shocking elimination and recently watching my favorite performances: her cha-cha and rumba, I feel bad for her, regardless of her high scores.

@starrbeatlesqueen Well the problem is the gimmicks themselves yes. They should keep them to a minimum because this is an amazing show without them. The only eras I really like are the era dances (90s,80s,futuristic,etc.) and story dances and I could even do without the story ones. The other gimmicks are not that great, it turned Season 11 to a cluster. SCD doesn't have quite the energy as DWTS in my opinion, but I think both shows are going to be around for a good while.

@whill1031 I do too. I just wish they would also quit putting people who already know how to dance on the show cause it takes away from the others. I didn't really think it was fair to have Jennifer, but she was only in one dancing movie (BUT the movie was from 23 years ago). It really wasn't fair when Nicole was on being a Pussycat Doll dancer and all (Kimberly Wyatt, a member of that group is a judge now on Live to Dance). Brandy and Mya (S9) didn't gloat about their dancing backgrounds. :)

@starrbeatlesqueen Jennifer didn't know much and she was pretty much vulnerable to injury, so I think it played out to where it was a fair game, cuz Kyle and Jennifer were close by the end. Nicole was a little unfair yea, while she wasn't a pro, she definitely had a lot of experience with choreography. Brandy doesn't have a big background, but Mya had a bigger one that Nicole, so she was a bit unfair too. Sabrina Bryan still remains the most unfair overall though, she was a pro dancer.

This is just my opinion, but Bristol got screwed! Bristol deserved to win, Kyle technique-wise was probably the worst overal, and Jennifer is pretty much an professional dancer. Bristol got lower scores then she deserved thoughout the show.

@55jrmoney Hm? She didn't do a lift. I think you may be talking about the part where she's over at the judges table. Derek supports her and she falls off into his arms, it looks like a lift, but in true movement, not really, he didn't actually pick her up, but I can see where you got that.

@55jrmoney You can feel free to have a theory, but that's just silly to be honest with you. She danced in a movie, that's it, and it was such basic steps it's not enough to get uppity about. Basically the same as Brandy, who did the Viennese Waltz in a movie, she did nothing complicated whatsoever that would prepare them for the show. Jennifer got 7 30s because she simply deserved them. All of her dances were excellent I thought.

@55jrmoney Well in that case, a lot of people have the experience she has. If dancing once gives you experience, anyone who has danced a choreographed routine once is considered a dancer. In marching band we did a routine to Thriller for a Halloween thing, guess we're dancers now lol!

@55jrmoney Yea I mean kinda. Jennifer does have experience yes, but all I'm saying is it's nothing to whine about compared to others that have been on the show. Sabrina Bryan was actually a pro dancer when she entered the show. Nicole, even though I loved and voted for her, had a good deal of experience. Mya and Aaron Carter also had more. So yes, when people say she has experience, they aren't lying, but it's not enough to be put out as giving her unfair advantages.

@55jrmoney I thought Sabrina was good, but she was overated just a bit. Too much boom boom boom with every mood she made. That cha cha she did was great, but more of a 24. Nicole wasn't quite a pro compared to Sabrina, she actually taught little kids and she was a professional in hip hop dancer by career. Nicole did a hecka lot of dancing, but she wasn't quite a pro. She was overscored though sometimes as well, as great as she was.

@55jrmoney Oh yes they do lol! Haha, if you want to go for it! Derek wins everytime he gets in the finals because when he's there he always has the best partner. Brooke was obviously the best, Nicole and Evan were pretty close, and Jennifer and Kyle were also very close. Don't forget he's been cheated a couple of times though. Jennie Garth should've gotten to the finals, Lil'Kim should've made it a week more, and Joanna should've been in the finals, but higher fanbase pushed all 3 out.

@55jrmoney Really can't do anything about that. Common misconceptioin: People think you can always tell who's good and who's not. That's far from the truth. I thought Brooke and Joanna both would suck, but Derek's teaching made them both great. Majority of the time, it's the pro that controls how good their celeb partner is. A student can't grow without a good teacher. I'm sure they've tried to give Derek tough partners, but so far, he's done well with all of them lol.

Mark couldn't do much you're right, and he is a good teacher, but Bristol wasn't a COMPLETE trainwreck, she did get overscored several times, but for someone with NO performance skills at all, she wasn't bad. Derek could've maybe gotten something out of her, her Cha cha and Paso Doble both showed pretty good dancing and potential.

@66SonicFan1 Haha, in some parts it's actually kinda good he was on a season like this. If it was season 8, he wouldn't have been has high on the leader board, therefore increasing his chance of elimination. Also, there were plenty of people who weren't near as good as Kyle even in the beginning, so it gave him lots of chances to improve. He was also a very liked celeb due to his bubliness, which was nice compared to constant drama from other couple's.

If this is what you need to get into the finals for dancing with the stars, even my 13yr old sister can win it.....

lacey is clever. she used the same choreography for kyle's first cha cha, then again for their group cha cha (team kristi), and then again for this instant cha cha. go back rewatch all three of lacey and kyle's cha cha's and you'll see she used the same exact choreography and moves for all of them.

Jenn was practically a pro b/c she is a trained dancer. She cried her way to the finals. Kyle was the most improved dancer especially since he had NO dancing experience in the first place. They say Bristol improved through out the show but i couldnt see it. Florence should have stayed longer than her. Brandy should have been in the final 2 along with kyle and jenn.....this was sooooo RIGGED

@cuteboi891 Can't stress this enough. She was not a pro dancer! If I was a doctor in a movie, does that mean I'm a professional doctor? No, of course not. Jennifer did hard work and fought her way to the finals, yes, she could've tried to be a little more closed to the cameras, but in no way was she crying all the time. The packages are one minute of about 5 days of rehearsal. I do agree however, that Kyle was very fun to watch, and improved a lot, I would've been ok with him winning.

The only reason I talked to that person was because they said Jennifer just cried her way to the finals. People all over say DD helped her, I know that, I don't even talk to any really. Kyle & Lacy were consistently the most entertaining couple. They were a perfect match for this show. They could have won if Jennifer wasn't great. Bristol did get consistently better.

I really liked everybody. But jennifer put out so much more effort. Kyle was fun to watch though. Dont hate on jennifer just because she has more dance exp, she also had tp put way more effort because of the pain she was put through. Kyle has definatley shown a ton of improvement but jennifer is a bit better,

I think Kyle and Jennifer were both underscored for this. Jennifer was my first pick to win so I'm happy she did! However, I wouldn't have been upset at all if Kyle did, I really liked him as well. Bristol did very well considering she's a complete non performer. This was her best dance, she actually danced really well in this (even though the costume wasn't so flattering on her). I think it's totally wrong to attack any of those 3, they all did their best.

really interested in exactly why some prefer bristol and kyle over jennifer. she continuously did moves neither would ever dream of attempting, she was able to work without forcing her partner to compromise his own skills, and she did it all with finesse, grace, and emotional investment. she deserved to win 100%.

That being said, I would never have expected either to beat Jennifer for the reasons you listed. I was moved when she cried over Patrick Swayze and she did over come so much!
