  • really informative and interesting

  • love the video man

  • you have some great stuff here

  • I lived with these people for 9 months back in the early 60's when taking a head was still practiced. These people are among the nicest I ever met. What I see in video's like this makes me sad. There are necessary reasons for them to make money from tourists, the main one being the exploitation starting at the formation of Malaysia of their habitat.

  • these people are nice and generous to visitors..headhunter is history by the way..

  • they cut white man head during the imperialism era!

  • sago grubs, not worms

  • a LOT of protein maaaaaaan

  • @TheDougaLau please note that the piece makes clear this was a long-ago occurrence.

  • Headhunting was like a tradition to some races in Borneo for a very long time. Not only Iban in Sarawak but also the Dusun and Murut in Sabah (North Borneo). One of the oldest man in my village (North Borneo) told us that headhunting was totally stopped between 1970-1980. So don't be scared to visit Borneo. Headhunters does not exist anymore. Some of the heads collection from legendary headhunters can be seen in KK museum. I believe museum in Kuching also got.

My grandfather told me that the headhunter was before the British guy name James Brooke came. Now the Borneo new generation from my parent generation they mix and the teenagers is very strong christian faith.

  • @thesimpsonizer Borneo is just the name of the island. The island is split between 3 different nations; Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei

  • That presenter lady has an awful haircut, she need to sort that out.

  • "Bad luck is gonna follow you forever"?. Not funny, and not a smart thing to say.

  • I used to work with many Ibans in the Indonesian part of Borneo. They are nice people, I like them. Hello Iban.

  • @aguswidjaja ,Hello...oooooo...haaahhhh!!!

  • @DayakPower Where are you living? Is it Malaysian or Indonesian part of Borneo? I used to work in Handil in Total's oil field. I also worked with many Ibans in offshore Indonesia. Ibans are hardworking people.

  • @aguswidjaja ,kecamatan badau,kabupaten kapuas ulu.

  • @DayakPower Apakah Badau itu di sebuah pulau kecil terletak antara Sumatera dan Kalimantan?

  • Bukan, kecamatan Badau, kabupaten Kapuas Ulu.terletak di ulu sungei Kapuas dr Kote Pontianak.3 hari naik bis kota,br bise sampai, bang!jauh koq.

  • @DayakPower Mudah mudahan suatu hari saya mendapat kesempatan utk ke sana. Anda tahu koordinate anda?

  • im from the north borneo (sabah)...

my clan also was a head hunter long time ago...Dusun clan...hello to sarawak...

  • yea nowsaday Iban is rich and educated,no more apai nyamun

  • Guys, I'm the Iban tribes from Borneo. No more head hunting as it was banned in the 80's. Now a lot of us works offshore. Yet the heads@skull are still hangs at longhouse's hall.

  • Wrong, headhunting was not banned in the 80"s but in the early 1900 by the Colonial government.

  • @macjuna007

That the written fact. But yet the activity still remains. My dad used to guard during night time in the 80's at my place.

  • I'm not trying to brag here but I happened to come from a generation that have proved what real headhunting is in those era. My family still have skull hanging in my sister ruai and my mom still kept the ilang that was used to cut the head. Both the skull & the ilang aged over hundred yrs old. In the our side of the family line , headhunting is called "ngayau" . Real headhunting is not done with firearm, shoot then cut off the head. It's a face to face fight with ilang. Do'nt know of the 80"s

  • Do they still practice headhunting?

  • No, But they did say that if there was a fight in the jungle, and someone from another trbe was killed, they wouldn't just leave the head there.

  • no more headhunting.....

  • @thesimpsonizer Im the Iban tribe....but,we not in the mood for head hunting right now..hahaha,kidding..but do come to Rainforest Music World Festival~

  • @thesimpsonizer thats strange, because my tribe it is custom to bury the dead, even if it is the enemy. and its also bad to leave the head out, because the spirits will wonder around the jungle.

  • yes ,they practice against the invasion of people from java(stupid politic from indonesia)i think they should kill all misionaries ,who try steel her culture to civilise them

  • @destroyxeverything No we don't.

  • @destroyxeverything Nope, they don't. Thank God because the missionaries willingly to sacrifice their time to tell the gospel to them.

  • @MrSniper5133 0sacrifice?ha!

  • Iban... Dayak... Orang Ulu... representing this group of native peoples. Their ancestors are head hunter but now, they are practicing civilized life and most of them have moved to the big town and city...

  • X_X As a sword collector it hurt my eyes seeing that lady touch the blade with her fingertips, that's a no-no, you never do that to another person's blade, it will leave fingerprints and might rust it.

  • I grew up in town society. But whenever I did get a chance to go back Kampung it was fun. Friends from bording school would invite me back to their Kampung on occasions to sleep over. We'd meet up with other mates who had also returned for the weekend and have a good laugh over drinks, guitar passed around playing a few songs each. Their parents would have delicious meals prepared for a guest. Id bring gift like food that they can cook that night and i get to eat it.

  • Often neighbouring Kampung's would have some sort of festival "concert" happening. We'd pack into group and head out to enjoy the gathering. We'd dance alot and drink. They loved dancing. Brawls do tend to happen, but water under bridge or alcohol under bridge. Friends will pull the fight apart. Agik idup agik ngelaban, in other words get over it or get a life

  • Swimming and jumping off waterfalls was great adventure for me. My friends with machetes each of their own. I remember one time we were out looking for big bamboo to bring back to cook chicken meat in it. Suddently the guys started shouting, second after that we were running after a wild boar Babi hutan, Never caught it though. I myself would not have known how they would have pinned it down, just went chasing. After the chase to find the guys had spears and traps fully made During the chase

  • Dayaks are humorous people esspecially the Ibans, my mothers half side. Dayaks are labelled hard working efficient tradesmen around the world from offshore riggers to construction. Many are educated. Were spread around the world in small numbers now, tradition is hard to practise. It Was a small culture advancing and developing into the modern world too fast. You may want to do research into Dayak stories before WWII or during that time for the info I think you are interested in
