I'm so glad I never played magic during the "Tarmogoyf" Standard heavy era.. Honestly, "I'm running a mono-red deck, like RDW, but with a Tarmogoyf." It just sounds like it was such a boring format at the time.. I'm actually glad he got wrecked. haha
Why didn't adam sac his two mogg fanatics in game 2???
I know it would have only brought the other guy to 1 life, but when he went to plunge for 10 adam could have shot the fanatics to make life hard for brian.
the hand disruption dosent matter to much, unless they have way to much of it. 4 of my 14 matches in the vancouver GP had alot of hand control. i only lost 1 match due to duress, duress, thoughtsieze, extripate, extripate.
Desire should have lost to a rock deck, anything with hand disruption just crushes it if it is used correctly. However, a really good player should be able to go off through it.
Whew. Mind's Desire is a devastating combo deck. I had an amusing anti-combo deck that I brought in whenever anyone even thought about bringing in broken decks to my casual table. 1st turn geothermal crevice, 2nd turn plains, Rule of law. Have fun going off now, storm combo. ;)
I think it is funny how everyone is so pumped about dredge and it will probably never win a major event. Most combo decks don't make it because of control LOL.
now, you really should give the guy some credit, that video was like a year ago, you can learn a lot in that time. And I have to say as one of the people who has problems playing type 2, or any other constructed format I was happy to see someone who had to say "Because it was the first deck I had the cards for" winning
How did he play Mind's Desire in the second game he only had 4 mana? Then gets 7 storm he only played 5 spells Channel the Suns, Rite of Flame, Burning Wish, Chromatic Star, Chrome Mox
Great coverage, been missing this. I do prefer the card labels on the video with the actual sound, but thats probably WAYYYY more labor intensive, and with 3 videos this week, I have no grounds for complaint.
This has just about convinced me not to play straight Aggro for this PTQ season, and I am considering giving TEPS a try.
I really liked this video. More matches should be shown like that. What I especially like about this, is that you can pause it, look up a card on the Gatherer, and then actually know what just happend.
That's true man,but I dont think calling it "luckY' is a good way to put it. Pretty much is all ratio. And I guess he had a good one. Thats why he could beat him on turn 2
Well in the first place the video is great, good job Evan.
Now I would like to add a comment...I felt a little difficulty to follow the cards as you were speaking, since I hadn't much contact with english (few times outside my english classes)...i had to pause and comeback some few times for complete understanding.
But I believe that in the next covereages you can fix this lil' thing for us (at least the ones who doesn't speak english as well as english speakers country).
I like the voice-overs better (they're easier to follow), but I would still prefer to have the list of cards in the opener (as hearing 14 cards is too much that fast, so being able to pause and look for a bit would help). Same goes for any situation where a many cards are listed in sequence (such as Desire). Still a very nice style of video, and one I hope to see in the future (unless of course it takes a ton more work, because you already put so much into the videos, and we love you for it).
I think both styles of your match videos are good but I like this style the best. It is easier to keep up with what is being played with the text videos but Hearing you speak is much more entertaining then reading text. I hope to see more videos like this one in the future.
I like the new style, although for longer games I prefer the on-screen text as it is a bit easier to follow along and since I can pause and read the card titles on screen instead of having to listen for them and things like that; however, for shorter games such as these the narration allows for more brevity.
So um... He got raped. There is no other way to say that.

@narutozrasengan And I know this is Extended, but still, Tarmogoyf sounds like such a format warping card that the Standard must've been monotonous.

Why didn't Brian play the Barbarian Ring, and then imprint something with Chrome Mox to Burning Wish for a Mind's Desire?

I think Cabal Therapy is better than Thoughtseize/Duress against Desire... After a Duress/Thoughtseize that is.

My response (post-board):
1st Turn Crevice
2nd Turn land
Krosan Grip.
Rule of Law is an adorable way to beat storm, I must admit

No offence to Brian, but he's a bad player. Back in one of your other videos when he was running Dragonstorm. Some of his plays made me cringe.

Adam's playing a Mono-Red deck like RDW but with Tarmogoyf in it. Umm, Tarmogoyf is a GREEN card so you're not playing Mono-Red.
