  • I saw that you had mentioned he had been diagnosed with infantile spasms. They look just like what my daughter use to do with the head bopping over and over. They were IS also. Vigabatrin stopped them. She was diagnosed with TSC.

  • hi I wanted to ask if I can use your video for an IEP Meeting that my son will have. I have a son who has the same symptoms... I wanted to ask for your permission to use this video. Is it okay?

  • @hashim745 - You are welcome to use the video, hopefully it will be helpful. Just an FYI that his diagnosis was Infantile Spasms from the age of 4 months. The video above was after we had his seizures somewhat under control, but they appeared to come back. Good luck in the IEP.

  • those this affect to older people or just children?

  • @elamorro it affects both. Ant kind of seizure can effect any age.

  • It looks like cataplexy, a sudden loss of muscle tone associated with emotion. I've seen it before (I used to work in neurophysiology in Birmingham Children's Hospital UK & I've since studied neurological & other medical conditions as part of my health & social care degree & in my own time). It's not unknown for cataplexy to be associated with epilepsy (but less common the other way round). I'd recommend getting an EEG done, but it's difficult to diagnose cataplexy as you have to EEG an attack.

  • why would u ask Youtube?....every1 is giving you different answerzs.."it looks like" ...take him to more than one doctor....Hope it isn't anything serious...bless

  • These look like infantile spasms or west syndrome, they are just very mild. It all depends on when this started and whether they are repetitive or not. Usually there is a developmental delay associated with infantile spasms. I am no doctor, but they are mild seizures for sure. He needs an EEG and an MRI for diagnosis. The EEG should show hypsarrhythmia if it is infantile spasms. The MRI could show up completely normal with infantile spasms or there could be visual abnormalities.

  • Speech delays also sign of severe autism and mental retardation.

  • yes those are the head dropping ones poor baby hope he gets well

  • He may have a jerking problem. I really don't know.

  • hope they are not seizures, and hope diagnosis is a favorable one. Beautiful baby haha, so cute. Best wishes!

  • it does look like drop seizures. my niece has them, and these look just like those. I would definitely get it checked out.

  • it does look like drop seizures. my niece has them, and these look just like those. I would definitely get it checked out.

  • Was this ever diagnosed? Did you catch one on an EEG?

  • No. Sometimes kids jerk like that. Some don't.

  • not seizures probably but a sugar processing problem -causing instant sleep usually by activity, youtube.com/watch?v=-zVCYdrw-1o&feature=related, narcoleptsy

  • looks like tic`s to me, they normally grow out, if they are tic`s

  • he looks like hes drunk.

  • @jamie151994

    you type like a drunk

  • @ISSTPskater - <=This dude is a racist punk with a SMALL white dick that can't do anything for girls....

You thought it could never happen? You thought you could test the almighty king? MegaBustaman OWNS you now. You can't go anywhere without my leash. Your other like-buddy is already learning to obey the king master. You have no idea everything that I can do to you. Disobey and disrespect your new king master and you'll see what the almighty king powers will be doing to you.

  • He is adorable - i would diffently have him tested - not only does the head drop but did you notice is arm - he acts similar to my seizures - also have him tested for food allergies and other allergies - you will be surprized at the results.

    All the best

  • it doens't look like a seizure to me as seizures usually last longer. A pediatrician will have an answer for you for sure.

  • @bonjovirocks09 Not true, some seizures are like "drops" and last only a few seconds, these look like those, they are called atonic seizures or drop seizures. The other type of seizures that only last a very small amount of time are called myoclonic jerks. The seizures you are thinking about are tonic and clonic tonic seizure that typically last longer than a "jerk" or "drop".

  • STOP THE VACCINES!

  • I suggest you to go ask a pediatrician, if u can bring the video its the best... my son have Absent seizures, the teacher noticed but she though it was lost of concentration and my husband didnt beleive me. I took 2 videos different time to the pediatrician and she sent me to a neurologist he had an EEG and he found the absent seizure.

  • looks like tourettes to me

  • maybe head drop seizures

  • Atonic maybe?

  • If you are concerned take your child to his pediatrician who will know if your boy needs to be checked by a specialist.

  • Some kind of twitch? maybe tourettes?

  • By the way. He's adorable!

  • It seems to me like it's a temporary tpe of Cataplexy.

You will notice that everytime his head drops, movement in his Peripheral muscles seize as well.

Cataplexy is accompanied with Narcolepsy (Sudden Sleep Syndrome) .

It's not a seizure however. Seizures are more like twitches. This seems to be a sort of muscle failure.

I hope I got it right.

    I'm not sure.

  • its a bit like a shutdown like us aspies get i just stare then it is ok but not sure what happened...jeff

  • tourettes?

  • Complex partial perhaps...check with a neurologist.

  • It looks like a head-drop seizure

  • Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome?

  • adsence seizueres it looks like look it up!

  • yeah, thats an Atonic seizure. I really feel for you and him, as I have a really bad form of neurotic twitching that is possibly Tourettes Syndrome. The seizures shouldn't hurt him, and from personal experience, i know that the most damage you could suffer is aching neck muscles, or if it becomes full Atonic, damage from falling down. They aren't painful thankfully, and DO NOT put him on meds!!! when he is older, teach him to try to consciously control them, rather than medicating him.

  • Those do not really look like a seizure i showed this to my father who is a neurologist and he said that infect those look like a rare case of a seizure

  • my 3 year old drops his head like that and falls to the side while sitting up. he has had an EEG and we were told they are Atonic Seizures

  • i agree with dr cgs, these do look like atonic seizures. would',nt be a bad idea to get an EEG as these could get worse as time goes on,

  • those are siezures

  • I think this this could very well be an exaple of an Atonic Seizure (Head drop seizures). I would suggest taking him to see an epilepsy specialist to get and EEG but that depends on how many seizures he is having a day.

  • well i have seen kids do dat often i dont think it is.....

  • this is nacolepcy

  • @krystal2012ful Good suggestion, but in narcolepsy, you actually fall asleep for typically over an hour. This is an example of Atonic twitching or Atonic seizures. I actually have this, so i know what it is like (thank god it isn't painful).

  • @AmericanSoapBox: You think you know everything already. Thats called "stupidity", and usually the word Syndrome is not attached to it.

BTW, it IS a seizure FYI, and stop posting smartass comments on serious topics.

  • It looks like possible cataplexy.

  • they do look like head-drop seizures

you might want to take him to a neuralogist

Seizures come in all kinds, most are not limited to just one type

I should know, I have grand mal seizures mostly

  • Atonic Seizure (called "drop attacks") possibly

  • @skatelusen well im soo sorry!

    gosh Sooo Crazzyyy!!!!

  • @Domokun050

    Ok.

  • @skatelusen thats really mean you u could of hurt some 1 feelings!

gosh he a nice little boy!!

  • OMG! This is what happened to my 11 month old daughter yesterday, the only difference is that hr eyes started to wander in different directions. I took her to the doctor but they could not tell me for certain what happened. If you still come on here please contact me through here and let me know if found anything out!! PLEASE, I am freaking out!!

  • These are atonic seizures.

  • definitely drop seizures.

  • yes it is i had that same problem around the age of 4 or 3 it is an infantile seziure

  • It might be seizures , but it could be signs of something else , I'd get him checked out to be safe. If I had kids , I'd get them checked out if they did anything weird like that.

  • To me it looks like he has head drop seizures maybe go get him checked out at a local hospital and have an EEG.

  • My lil bri used to do that but doesn't any more and he never had any background for them but they could just be head drop seizures

  • it does look like seizures. my son has epilepsy and has these trype of mild drop seizures. the main thing is he doesnt seem to be distressed and they dont seem to be lasting very long. request an EEG xx

  • My guess would be mild mild narcolepsy, or tourettes. Are his eyes open whilst his head falls? If so then you can probably rule out narcolepsy.

  • cute kid

lol who knows if their seizures, see a doctor tho they seem frequent

  • The yelps are more likely a form of tourettes.

  • Those ARE seizures. They are either atonic or possibly myoclonic. Looks a little old for true infantile spasms but that's certainly a possibility. I hope you saw a pediatric neurologist long time ago.

  • he is a cute little guy, he has really pretty eyes, if it is a seizure or anything for that matter i hope he heals from it

  • Looks like a drop attack.. also known as a drop seizure.. My daughter has these though hers effects her entire body.. Though just the head dropping is more common... And the length of his.. (a few seconds) is common as well.. ( my daughter has a rare case that has been timed by the Dr. up to 20 min) Let us know what you find in Neuro!

  • i dont think you should be asking youtube ... family doctor?

  • hello? this was from almost 4 years ago. Do you think they've diagnosed this by now?

  • i would go see your peds doc cuz that seems like simple seizure to me. does it happen alot??

  • Drop seizures

  • can somebody just answer this persons question!! christ talk about going of the point

  • I think these are seizures. Perhaps he needs a video EEG which can be arranged through a pediatric neurologist.

  • i don't know..

    but he is adorable..

  • yeah its a seizure ive seen those plenty of times

  • maby turrets

  • Your son acts exactly the way my baby does, my little guy is 2

  • Infantile Spasms and TSC

  • yeaaah. let's trust "paganwitch666" she certainly knows! Where is the stimulus for infantile spasm? And why on earth would you assume TSC from this alone??

  • for starters its just a name, and im assuming this because i have seen other children do the same thing that were diagnosed with TSC but im not a doctor nor did i say i was plus atleast im being helpful unlike you

  • Unwarranted assumed diagnosis without any basis is most certainly NOT helpful. You should have said that "I have seen kids with TSC do this" rather than implying with certainty a specific diagnosis.

I would disagree that I am being unhelpful. I am calling into question posts like these.

  • lol isnt that the whole point to find out some ideas all of these are assumed diagnosis how is peoples ideas not helpful??? and i cant write what i want how i want you can interperate it how ever you want but i never wrote that this was a certainty diagnosis and go ahead waste time being so called helpful by slamming people for ideas

  • mislead people how by writing a suggestion and what i wrote has everything to do with what i wanted to say also i never wrote it was a certainty you assumed it as stated it is a suggestion if people wanted medical advise instead of suggestions they will confirm it with a doctor if i was to be certain about something i would of wrote im certain it is this, if i was to suggest i would of wrote it how i did so get over it and presume and come to conclusions all you want

  • Are you serious? Who declairs it whenever they are certain of something? Usually we declair when we are uncertain by saying "I think" or, in this case "I have seen similar circumstances" but nobody goes around saying "I'm certain" we generally assume that a person is informed when they make a statement.

Now your just spinning around trying to justify your mistake rather than just owning up to the fact you gave medical advice without acknowledging your limited experience.

  • @paganwitch666 In English???

  • @paganwitch666 are you writing in english? or did you have a seizure while responding? There's a whole basket of crazies in your response.

  • it may be a head drop seizure like many of the others are saying but it also can be a condition called cataplexy.

  • ok. but what is the emotion? Seems to me he is just sitting there and "talking"

  • I don't know what the emotion is....but that doesn't mean there's no emotion. He clearly isn't flat. But again those 2 are just suggestions.

  • i think that is called a "head drop seizure"

  • He looks like a normal kid to me. He's cute.

  • That actually looks more like a tick than a seizure--if he has a prior history of seizures, I might get it looked at, but children and adults who have history of seizures can also have other disorders like ticks and IRM (involuntary repetitve motion).

  • or the kid could have terets

  • i have epilepsy and its a rare form i haven't had a seizure in years but i used to do strange things and my eyes were not affected

it could be that because he is older the seizures don't effect his eyes anymore when he has them

  • what type?

    my mom has cavernous angoma

  • Blitz-Nick-Salaam (BNS) Seizure.

  • yes i think their called "dropping head" seizers

  • AWW! that's a really cute baby. :)

  • my baby started doing that at 5 mos old. the doctors diagnosis him with tuberous sclerosis. he has epilepsy, i think you should take him to the ped.

  • Omg im 15 and i was diagnosed withTubereous sclerosis and so was my older sister and she has seizures my is a lil different tho i have heart problems and i see a heart doctor every 6 mos.

  • he is so adorable.

  • This are calles "shalom crisis", they are seen in infantil spasm. Usually produced by atonic episode of the head.

It does not seem like Tourette syndrome.

  • idk babies are weird like that somethimes

  • Please take him to the Ped right away. These look like classic Infantile Spasms and they can damage him. He is a doll :)

  • yeah. this looks like tourettes. when people seize, they typically stop breathing and they either get very still or start jerking. sometimes a combination of the two.

  • that is a stereotype there are like 40 different types of seizures

  • they look liek tourette syndrom get i have absense seizures but theyre diff from that please consult a neurologist

  • my son had infantile spasms. I nearly cried when watching your video. They looked exactly like that. Please see the best neurologist you can ASAP.

  • Those are Infantile brain Spasms. You shoud consult a Neurologist.

  • He's so cute. He might have narcolepsy.

  • It could be TS (tourette syndrome). TS is defined as:

repetative, sterotyped, involuntary movements and/or vocalizations called tics.

almost always noticed in early childhood and males are effected by it 3-4 times as much as females.

    could be cataplexy as well.

  • My daughter does this about everyday! She also shakes her head! I hope shes ok

  • This fits the description of cataplexy.

  • What's so funny?

  • He is so beautiful, wishing you the best of luck :]

  • I have Narcolepsy.Cataplexy is usually seen in folks With N,but not always...Cataplexy-emotions trigger temp muscle control..Mostly when you laugh...maybe its just a tic..

  • Narcolepsy?

  • maybe cataplexy...read about it

  • It actually looks like a Doose syndrome or West syndrome... look for a neurologist, It´s well worth doing it

  • My son has landau kleffener syndrome, many of his seizures where almost unseen. any drop of attention needs to be addressed. Alex had the grand mals and the tiny little dropsies that even the medical staff didnt notice, except for the eegs. looks like seizures to me, from personal experience.

  • was thinkin exactly as you...boosub,

my mates niece has it and it wasnt till she got her top to toe'd by a neurologist she got a defo explanation an diagnoses can be just as bad as a seizure though the lil girl i know drops anywhere an everywhere without control especialy if she gets excited.. shocked or laughs.

  • if it worries you enough to notice an question its cause then get him a once over for some peace of mind it never hurts... an if he does have a condition WHICH he may not

SO PLEASE DONT GO DRIVING YOURSELF INSANE WITH WORRY..!!

But if for any reason he has an illness, then atleast you will know and be filled in with how to manage in any given situation.. the help offered and contacts with ppl in a likewise or any illness who meet an share their new found wisdom..ignorance is a flaw we all share

  • if that is a seizure, that is a rare form...

  • It may be a seizure, it may be a disorder such as narcolepsy or cataplexy. In any case, have him checked by a professional and show them this video. The internet is not the best place to get a diagnosis.

  • no a seizure is like were you completly black out and start to twitch all over the place i kno that because my brother had one

    ps: most babies do that

  • ive had lots of vacant seizures by that i mean i get into a trance like state an do a whole lot of nothing but glare. cuz my mind is as blank asa newborn babys. i rearly realise or even know after the fact its happend. my only clue is feeling sleepy suddenly which is why im not aloud to drive 4a year if i dnt have anymore i wil be able to drive again.i have been told i do not have epilepsy tho.i also for the 1st time ever had 3 full on violent fits on the 4th jan spent las wk in hosp. not gud!!

  • i think it is because i have seen other videos on youtube were the child is doing exactly as your boy is doing. There called head drop seizures or summin

  • im sorry tsc not tbs....

  • This looks like an IS, TBS, have him double checked please..

  • My daughter is doing the exact same thing. She is almost 11 months and I just started seeing this about two weeks ago. We've beent o the pediatrician, and are waiting on an appt for an eeg. She has no other spasms, no other body parts seize. Her head just drops.

  • no, a lot of babies can be like that

  • It looks like a normal Motor and Verbal Tic to me. He will grow out of it.

It never hurts to show this to your doctor though.

  • it almost looks like half a drop seizure

  • i do what he does....

    in search box type illumistream

    (look at the epilepsy/siezer videos

  • It looks like a type of epilepsy to me. It's most deffinately NOT infantile spasm / West syndrome - Lennox Gastaut. It looks like atonic seizure. Like all others... get your son to a neurologist. He'll do some tests (blood, MRI, (sleep)EEG) and you'll probably will now what's going on in a short while. But you probbly already have.

I hope everything is alright now

  • It looks like Infantile Spasms (a type of seizure) to me. My daughter had these, her head would drop, but also would drop her arms (like a momentary loss of muscle tone). I'd definitely see a children's neurologist, and show them this video. God bless your little boy.

  • harriswhistles...What this Boy is doing cant be Infintile Spasms, because im 15, & i do it too looks like a type of epilespy, or Brain Epilepsy?

  • Just because one type of epilepsy produces seizures that look like this doesn't mean that other types of seizure disorders can't produce similarly appearing seizures. My daughter's infantile spasms (IS) looked like this, w/ brief head drop, quick recovery, and she would have up to 30 of them within a few minutes time. RE: this boy, I can't tell how old he is nor how old he was when the seizures started. IS usually begins between 5 mos. to 1.5 years and can last till age 4 or so.

  • oh, ok....

  • No you would know if that was a seizure

sounds like ulysse2121 is correct with this one!

  • show this to your doctor just in case. seizures take many different forms. if it is a seizure, there is hope, my brother has epilepsy and lives a perfectly normal life and has a great job at Bellin Hospital

  • If his body goes limp at the same time his head nods, I'd say it's an Atonic(drop attack)seizure. It's a sudden loss of muscle tone. Pay close attention to whether or not he drops things when he nods. Be careful though, if these are drop attacks, he could get injured very badly, especially to his face. Get him to a Dr. ASAP before they become worse. Good luck.

  • yes this does look like some type of seizure. Particularly like the type that might be seen with infantile spasms. My daughter does the same thing, although a diagnosis has yet to be made. This child should definitely be seen by a pediatric neurologist. Good luck.

  • u can ask me about it i have it so i can tell u about it i dont kno about sezuires it looks like a "tic" to me

  • he has tourette syndrome look it up..

  • no thats not a seizure

  • Ahhh!! Bless him! Poor lil thing!! he's so kyoooot though!!

  • These are called "nodding attacks". They can occur in West syndrome aka infantile spasms. It is important that you bring your child in for an EEG. You should contact a neuropediatrician and not just any doctor who might not be familiar with this condition. I hope you and your child all the best for the future.

  • These are drop seizures. Son had them as a teen. Out for only seconds. My son's case about 10.

  • I don't know anything about seizures, but the dropping head motion looks to me more like a "tic" than a seizure. My friend J.D. has these sorts of tics. Except his head usually twitches sideways rather than downwards.

  • These look like Drop seizures to me. My son sometimes has them. He also has Lennox-Gestault and has seizures all the time.

  • These look like akinetic seizures my daughter had these starting at the age of 9 months. She also has other seizure types. If you have not already taken your baby to a neurologist please do. Her final diagnosis was Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome. I pray for you and your family that this is not the case. Good luck to you.

  • YES THOSE ARE SEIZURES!!!!

Please please please take your precious son to a neurologist, and get a good Children's one. Go to a Children's specialist that is recommended. This is NOT something to mess around with. Please get your son an MRI asap.

  • THAT'S NOT A SEIZURE!!

  • It seems like he's having infantile spasms more than a seizure. my son has epilepsy and west syndrome, and the too different seizures are differnt. where his epileptic ones are typical seizures, the spasms he has to do with the west syndrome make his head drop and quite often squeal at the same time or afterwards.

  • I don't know much about seizures but it does seem like them. Side note though, he's adorable.

  • look like really quick atonic seizures to me... should take your kid to a neurologist and have an EEG done on him... that would r/o any abnormal brain activity... poor little one!... by the way he is sooo beautiful... have him checked please! maybe you can update us!

  • Based on this short video observation I do believe that these are seizures. There are many types of seizures and this one would be considered an Absnece or Petite Mal seizure. Most common in children, they are characterized by a blank stare, beginning and ending abruptly, and only lasting a few seconds. The child is unaware of surroundings and then quickly returns to full awareness. I recommend a medical evaluation by a specialist.

  • It could be a hyperclonic jerk, you get tose often when your asleep and half away and a jolt goes hrough your body or its a nervous tick or possibly Turettes and if they are seizures thee Petite Mals and I doubt that -Paul

  • yes that might be a seizure, but it also could be many other things like narcolepsy, I would make sure to have the child be seen by a pediatric neurologist. My daughter has seizures and if they are left untreated, they can cause damage. Each one untreated can effect the brain.

  • were is the seizures???seriously i dont see it..is it when he tilts his head down?

  • Yes, it's when the head drops. That is a type of seizure but it's different than what lots of people think of when they hear the word seizure.

  • yes, they are seizures, infantile spasm equivalents, see a pediatric neurologist

  • Do you respond with a verbal response or other reaction whenever this happens? Will it happen if his attention is trained on something above eye-level? When did you first notice it? What's the frequency of the occurences?

  • Thank you for posting this video. My son, who is 14 months, has been doing this, hard rapid blinking and nodding his head for a little while. My family told me it was nothing and said it is just what litle ones do, but seeing this video made me call my pediatrician to see what he thought. He scheduled us for an EEG yesterday because he said all of that sounds like seizure symptoms in children. I am now awaiting the results.

  • Have you checked out Atonic seizures? there is another posting on here about an 11 yr old girl having very very similar seizures..."Head Drop Seizures" it is called. You might find some answers by contacting whoever posted that one.

  • they dont look much like a seizure, but seizures are different for every person so it couldn't hurt to get him checked out if you're concerned

  • They kinda look like drop seizures? I seen it on a talk show a few years ago. Looks like the exact same thing the kids did on that talk show. But its just a guess

  • That is a seizure. rust me that is NOT fussing

  • I have epilepsy,and doesn't seem to be a seizure.

I've complex partial seizures. And most of people doesn't link my seizures to epilepsy. They all think epilepsy as the grand mal seizures.

I allways have some away to hide that I've epilepsy.

  • My son had that same posture when he seizures. He had spastic Quadriplegia cerebral palsy.

  • Having had 8 years experience of my sons seizures and in the last week our 10 month baby statrting with seizures, many meetings with richard appleton - google him - he is recognised as one of the leading experts in peadiatric neurology this does not look like seizure activity. Does he loose any colour in his face, does he look confused, is he tired afterwards? Diagnosis should be made by EEG and this video, although EEG can not be definative. He looks gorgeous and i hope its just a game to him!
