  • My 66' has a 352 in it and it gets about 8 mpg. lol but its a real dependable truck.

  • @zzpatrick1 i agree lol i got the 352 cleveland with a double barrel carb... gets very crappy mileage to be a DD... but this truck is very dependable.... been in my family since 74 and is still runnin like a champ and knows how to get the job done

  • your very lucky man im fixing up my 90 f150 so i can buy an old pickup like yours and restore it =)

  • engine looks great and the straight 6 is a great motor.

  • @TheSpartan2235 they,re great motors, my 90 f150 had the straight 6 with the 5 speed and it was at 450,000 and ran great.

  • what do you get for gas milage for the f100? its a 352 correct?

  • @13dawsonc2 No, My truck came with a 240 inline 6 cyl. According to others with my similar setup I should be in the 15 - 17 mpg range. Pretty sure a 352 would be around 10 - 12 mpg.

  • your right...10 to 12. i love these old trucks. i have a 65 with a 352, it was a 3 on the tree, but now it has a C6 auto. u guys take it easy. happy hot roddin & rat roddin.

  • @megawes5 I have a 66 f100 with a 352, same color as this. I get 16 mpg on the freeway. You have to get the point gap and dwell exactly right. That is critical with old Fords.

  • @watutman Oh, and I forgot to mention, always get a hotter range of spark plug than the "books" tell you. I get the best results from AC brand, and a hotter range.

  • love those headers!! Sounds like a V8!

  • Sweet video. I used the Offenhauser on my 1972 and also put a Holly 4 barrel on it. It was amazing the pick up it added to my little I6.

  • @toddthorne I wish I knew what it felt like. I haven't driven this truck in over 5 years. It sits in storage awaiting a paint job.

  • Nice work on the truck..I've got a '65 that I am "refreshing"..I am not rebuilding it...just gonna make it road worthy..If you'r interested, come check it out..(again, not as nice of a job as you're doing, but still...)

  • Sweat

  • @rockoninhell Yes, It took a lot of sweat and yes it is sweet!! ;)

  • I got one and it's a project like yours. what color are you going to paint it?

  • @rockoninhell I'm going to paint it the original city truck orange or close to it. The plan is to make it a prerunner. AutoFab dot com has a sweet 17" front end wheel travel kit for it.

  • could you tell me what that is you are using for the intake and where you got it

  • @billybb17 It's an Offenhauser manifold. I think I bought it from Jeg's.

  • aahh mira vos. y de cuantas pulgadas son los motores aya?? aca en argentina las f100 que venian con 6cil era de 221 pulgadas como la mia

  • @f100juan It's a 240 cubic inch

  • jaja que raro ver un 6cil en yankilandia y mas en una f100

  • sos de argentina? la verdad es que es muy comun ver los 6 en las F100 aqui.

  • It doesn't look like you took the cab off were you able to get the frame done under it as nice as you would have liked? What extent of rebuild on that six cylinder?

  • @billybb17 Of course it doesn't look like I took the cab off, because I didn't, like I already said. ;P I would like to, but money and a place to work on this truck isn't around anymore (it's been since '05 since breaking this engine in.)

I had Forged pistons installed with a true 9:5.1 compression ratio. The head was ported and polished and a mild cam was installed. A Hedman Header, Offenhauser manifold, Holley 390 carb, TCI Street fighter trans, Mild stall TQ, with a 3.73 posi trac out back.

  • @billybb17 I tried to update the photos over on flicker. Check out the link to them in the description.

  • What is that great song and who's singing it? Did you take the cab off and if so is it difficult to do?

  • Nope, never did take the cab off. The front clip was easy to take off. The cab looks about the same. Heck! That's why I love this truck. Everything about it is so damn easy to work on.

The Song is Dave Dudley singing "One More Mile"... cause that's what this truck will always do!!

  • I've developed a passion for thesef100's and now have a 65 totally stock 6 cyl 3 on the tree. Can't wait to start in on it maybe after I drive it awhile

  • @billybb17 great job billy. i have a question, i have a 1980 f-100 with the inline 6 and i tried to do away with the oil filer cap with the blowby hose and just use a sealed cap, but the blowby was so much it seemed to be realy causing pressure so much the dipstick would start comming out of the tube? how did u get around this? my air cleaner was the realy small 3 inch crome round one being im keeping the factory carter carb on it?

  • beautiful!! You do great work

  • Thanks!

  • hey I am restoring a old 75 f100. got any good suggestions. where did you get the engine from?

  • nice old truck i got a 66 f100 whit a F.E 352 big block i got a pic of mine on my channal

  • hey man its a 66 for sure im wantin a good one that mid restored u still got it and do any trade or u want money i got a 51 ford runs body got a couple dents and rust spots but nt really my year more of a 66 guy lol message me ur location and number sometime im interested

  • do you still have this truck? jen

  • Yes I do, it's in storage and looks better in this video than it does now. Getting it ready for paint. Just need Mo' Money.

  • Nice ride man, just bought one myself, what did you use to paint the frame with? POR-15?

    Nick

  • kool truck dude ..love those 66's..i have seen this vid and i keep an eye out to see if there is any new vids for the truck..

i could see disc brake's on her and power steering ......any new vid's comming our way?..wood like to see an update on the truck ...very kool truck

  • when you sanded for the 80 grit did you go down to the metal?

  • Pretty much.

  • did you sand blast much

  • Just on the right side of the firewall. It was difficult to sand in there so I broke out the sand blaster. I also used one of those rust sanding attachments for your drill.

  • Nice job man. Was it simple to pull apart? I have the exact same model waiting to be restored, but I haven't managed to find any manual on restoring that exact model...

  • Yes this truck was very easy to pull apart. Everything in this video I did by myself without the help of anyone.

  • Sweet Truck I Got 1 Like I But It Has A 460 In t For A Motor

  • hey sorry i gt 1 a 2 days ago but why should i buy a 300?

  • The 300 is just worth your while from what I hear. There's a bigger stroke on that engine. Not sure what else. Check out the Slick 60's forums. Should be some folks there with some good info for ya!

  • from what i've heard, that is the only difference.

  • hey i can buy 1 of these a v6 .how much hp do they have?

  • If you get one make sure it's a 300. I'd like to do that next time round. I don't even know what this engine feels like yet. :(

  • i have one of those and they run great. cool video.

  • nice truck yea im going to rebuild my 1990 f150 its not that old yet but i was to make it nice it has the straight 6 and everything still stock in it

  • Note to teamixr: It's possible the original owner wanted some of the standard cab fetures. Back then you could order individual features instead of "packages" unlike today. Now it's "all this or nothing".

  • Very cool. I had a '63 about 15 years ago with the 223 6. Couldn't find any speed parts for it.

Is that a 240 or 300 that you have?

  • It's a 240 with 9.5:1 Compression, mild cam, offy intake, 390 Holley, Hedman header. It's all ported out and right now it has dual cheapy summit tubros which sounds like crap! So might try a single 3" with a Flowmaster. The video is it's break-in in '05 open header.

  • that header looks wicked. do you remember how much it was?

  • It's a Hedman Header that I had chromed. I got it from Jegs for around $170. Had it chromed for the same.

  • thanks. i may buy one.

  • Oh I could cry watching this... I used to have a '66 ¾ton that I would've loved to restore, but I didn't have a shop or enough know-how to do it. Now my dad has it, and my uncle wants to rebuild it, but I doubt it'll happen.

It needs a few things, like a new tailgate and floorboards. I should probably make sure those get ordered, but I don't know...

  • nice job! Glad to see somebody restored the old straight six instead of swapping out for a V8.

  • That was my plan at first but it seemed so much easier to just rebuild the 6 and I'm glad I did!

  • Awesome job on that!

  • Thanks! It's not done yet though. I plan to have some more amazing updates at the end of July.

  • hey awsome job with your truck,my dad just gave me his 66 f100 with the 352 and the 3 on the tree!i will be restoring this to 100% stock and be locking for it a route 66 this year,it needs alot of work but i will be posting progress.thanks for sharing the video...

  • something else, this truck also came with an odd 50/50 feature,it has half custom cab half standard cab features and whats wierd is that this truck is fatory it has never been touched, just curious if you may know why this is thanks again...

  • ive got a 66 f250 police interceptor screams

  • Nice job! I have a '66 stepside with 30K miles in really good shape with the 352.If I had time I would like to go to the extent you have.
