Yesterday I bioshocked my bioshock whilst my friend Bioshock showed up to bioshock the bioshock and bioshocked me all about his bioshock to bioshock.
Then I had a bioshock with sliced bioshock and went to bioshock, where I read a few chapters out of my bioshock biography until I finally fell bioshock.
I went into the abandoned Melody Fair theater which is now demolished for a Wal-Mart and i sang this song for no one in particular but I will never forget it. Great song
and you know what i think of when i hear this song i see the vast ocean crashing waves and beaches with me living in a land locked state this song makes me long for the ocean
screw avril lavigne, miley cyrus, rebecca black, big time rush, rihanna, kesha, lady gaga, jonas brothers, the fag who sings the worst song ever made: baby oh, i won't speak his name in such a video, and all that modern crap the world keeps listening today. they contaminate and defile the art of music. this is pure music. this man and few others can make me proud of my country!!! i just wish they were still alive, but i thing God needed in order to make Paradise more beautiful.

I knew this song before BioShock, but this song is the kind of thing that made the game awesome. So whenever I hear this, my mind goes straight to BioShock. YOU MAD?
@TOMilf Actually, my mother and I were just discussing big band jazz and we happened to come across the subject of Bobby Darin. I then realized that I really needed to listen to Beyond the Sea again. So I suppose that, in a way, my mom did tell me to search this song. How kind of you to notice.

me maa brought me here and god/allah/jesus?/H.Krishna/the universe?/PIE brought here here. lets all take a moment to thank merry mathmaticians and their merry obsession with pie.
Who cares if you know the song before bioshock? Or knew it from Goodfellas? Shouldn't you just celebrate the fact that these forms of entertainment have brought people to classic music like this?
Y'all are right alot of ppl never even heard of this song before bioshock, but i think they pick this song because it fit the time period and to bring this great song from way back when, and let the newer generations hear and like it.
It's kind of a win/lose when video game developers decide to put oldies in a game. It gives the genre a lot more attention, but the ignorance of the gamers kills the thunder.
@MaikJames First of all, the video game soundtrack included this song because it was placed in the 50's era, so no doubt they would have OLDIES from that period in a game set in that time period. AAAnnnnd.. so what if the game gave this song some more attention, all the better in my opinion, I actually got into big band, stretching from 20's till the 60's, and I never would have if it wasn't for a masterpiece game called Bioshock - plain and simple. Thumbs up if you agree.
I absolutely love this arrangement, the band is fabulous and the drummer is a monster, you didn't hear these kind of 'licks' very much in the olden days of recording, especially radio. Do any of the more knowledgeable posters know who the drummer on this session was ? I'd love to know. cheers.....Jeff
I was at Wendy’s once and this song came over the radio, and a little girl in the next booth said “Mommy! This is the Nemo song!” Hilarious :) Thank you, Pixar, for introducing the classics to a new generation!
In prison, dinner was always a big thing. We had a pasta course, then we had a meat or a fish. Paulie was doing a year for contempt and had a wonderful system for garlic. He used a razor and sliced it so thin it would liquefy in the pan with a little oil. It's a very good system. Vinnie was in charge of the tomato sauce.
@BorredChimera Technically it is from the big band swing genre. The music was written in the 1940s; Darin's version has rewritten lyrics (the original were in French). But given that this was recorded and released in the rock & roll era, I'm not sure how it should be classified. Perhaps the generic "pop" designation is most appropriate.
I remember in Cocoa Beach (hint hint astronauts) and I was sitting on our hotel porch, and this song was playing. I thought, gee, I wonder how many astronauts listened to this in Cocoa Beach fifty years ago?
Well, the main difference between the original "La Mer" sung by Trenet is that the french gentleman wrote an ODE to the sea ! And not another stupid love song like this one ...
I wonder who gets the money payments for the gross commercials attached to this video? Probably BDs estate. Either way, it's really despicable exploitation of an American treasure.
Before August 2007, I never suspected that a video game could have such a prolonged effect on someone and broaden their views on the choices they make.
