  • I highly recommend her Foundations of Belly Dance Video. I like her fusion of tribal and standard belly dance moves. Personally, pure Egyptian/Turkish belly dance is too faux-sexy for me, and pure tribal is too "Klingon Women." But her style is fluid and modern without all that "ticking". Her steps can easily work their way into any style you do. The video is well made and she teaches the steps very well and she is a pleasure to watch.

  • wtf VODOO!?

  • this thing is crazy

    snake dance

  • Beautiful customs, and such fluid motion excellent

  • god these girls need to learn how to move a little more...there so stiff

  • this is amazing. she is honestly my mentor. I have a video odd my very first performance on here. it was choreographed as a duet, but my partner quit on me last minute, so some of the moves (like the kicks, and chorus) look a little one-sided and empty. sorry for that, but any and all comments/feedback/critique/suggestions are very appreciated! I dance with a very tribal style, this is just a pop dance for my partner. more, and better to come. just search Erica Mars. im the first vid.

  • @Qualle4Life and what would the husbands give in return? if a woman's going to put that much effort into staying in shape and entertaining him then what does he do for her? :D just asking questions...

  • Is that Zafina from Tekken?

  • this is awesome

  • omg....this is awesome...

  • WICKED!!

  • I love Seras dancing. Her choreographies are always fresh and interesting.

  • ugh! :)

  • those pigtails look dangerous

  • saaaweeet!

  • just ordered this and a couple other tribal fusion dvds & can't wait for them to get here! it's gonna be a long week XD

    war lediglich eine richtigstellung.

    Thank you for the post!

    Ana

  • Does anyone know where I can get pants like those? :(

  • she is very Good wow , how much is the dvd?

  • she dance like snake

    I also have this CD

I am Arabic & I learned how to move my body because of her

but she dont dance like ARABIC bellydance, she but her own style

  • oh i have this dvd...really useful...sera is so great!all the movements r clean!that's my goal...

  • sharks sharks many sharks

    realy;)

  • Do these videos also teach arm / hand movements? This looks like you'd need professional dance lessons as a foundation before adding this style on... unless they also teach you how to spin like that?

  • This reminds me strangely of Star Wars. Maybe I'm just that much of a geek.

  • @Essentialism155 Hey, you're right! Her hair does kinda remind me of Leia when she was captured by Jaba the Hutt. (forgive the spelling if it's wrong; i didn't google it first) But aside from that; she's a great dancer!

  • @39Bosski leias hair wasnt like THAT. pfff, what you mean to say is that she looks like the twi'lek that was dancing before jabba threw her in with the rancor.

anyway, i gotta show my wife this shit. its dope

  • @opticannon Ooops! You're right! ;) I stand corrected. (now I gotta go watch the movie)

  • @39Bosski no, i was wrong the outfit that she has on is definately leias. its the hair and dancing that was the twileks. my mistake

  • Amazing! She's got an different style

  • I first learned of this when friend of mine received the instructional DVD as a gift, and now I can't wait to order a copy for myself. Belly dancing is a great way to lose weight for people with breathing problems, like me, who can't do traditional exercise. Just doing the warm-up routine makes you feel like your shedding pounds.

  • truely amazing!

  • very good work she is so much good tribal

  • That is really cool. I like how she moves the energy.

  • Enjoyable 1 but Philippines has 28000 coasts. whats east coast then!

  • Woho

  • gooooooood dance

  • she looking hot

  • wow she is good!!!!

  • so great! if i got the body for that, i would buy the dvd :D

  • you could still buy it!

  • It's for every body (pardon the pun)!

  • There is an 85 year old woman in my bellydance class...I'm sure you would be fine

  • any type of body is good for that ^^

  • if you start doing it, the body will happen ^_^

  • i want to know who the cute girl with the dreads is...more more more. :]

  • I love all these tracks -- can the author of the video tell us what they are!!!!

  • All music in this video was custom-created for this instructional DVD - album "Balance" by the Freak Factory

  • Sweet!! Thanks for the quick reply!!

    Awesome vid/DVD too btw!! ;)

  • like arab dancing

  • Wow wonderfull ! She's got talent !

  • can anyone tell me whats the name of the track beggining starting at 0:48 until 1:06?

    Thank You!

  • I'm gonna practice that later on today

  • wow, very fluid moves! Looks like a real snake!

  • GREAT BELLY DANCERS...!

  • that costume is fantastic

  • I've been studying Belly Dancing for almost a year. I've heard of Tribal but, never actually seen it being performed... This looks so interesting. I'm sad to admit that with the slow progression of the classes and not learning anything but snake arms every time... It's good to see some variations of arm movements.

I wish we would explore more range of movement in class with the moves we are being taught. I'm going to check into buying this video. It looks really good.

  • I have this video and its very good...You get sooo much strength from it, you never have to lift weights with this video, your body is your weight and resistance.

  • God bless women ¡ ,... and their hips ¡¡¡ .Movement is ...LIFE¡¡

  • Really good video

  • Costume very modern interesting choice of music...

  • bit of advice, u guys are a bit too close making it confusing to focus on the nuance of the moves.

  • foreverbogan: I'd have to slightly agree with you on that. I believe Bellydancing is amazing because if it's fluidity, feminine, snake-like, mystical qualities. The addition of the rave style liquid moves and close to break dance style waves and little pop and locks is taking away from what makes bellydancing sultry and sexy. I've noticed that myself. I don't think this is a bad style but I think they must be careful how much they add or change.

  • well put.

  • That's because its not middle eastern dance Bellydance that you're thinking of. This is called American Tribal Fusion.

  • Don't get me wrong, These women are beautiful and they move beautifully, I should have saved my comment for the actual vid I saw on another channel where they weren't doing this, it looked more like someone with a physical disability than dancing... really. I think they need these girls training. I had made the comment after jumping from vid to vid.

  • Chris Angel eat your heart out, I swore for a moment these girls were floating starting at about 0:24 Am I the only one? :)

  • no your right but it's coz of the camera xD

  • awesome moves!!!

  • its a good vid

  • hi, im tammy the wild one, a tribal belly dancer. iv took your workshop at tribal fest 9 its aewsome. i bought this video its really cool, thats sera.

  • it looks like she body poping!

its good but a bit wiered!

    but it is amazing!

  • Yeah I could have had it without the last part.............

  • hmmm... interesting

  • music film

  • Hi Belly Super Dancer,

You are the best dancer I ever Seen! Come to Singapore to teach We need you!

  • I am SO gonna buy that!

  • SOOO HOT!!!!

  • but that's not tribala from 2:05 up to the end...that's some kind of fusion, perhaps?

  • its hip hop tribal fusion from 2:05 and up..its interesting to say the least.

  • wow...

  • That was just like Maui hippie ragers!!!! Much love from the 808!! that last part made me so dizzy~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  • Wow! There timing and sync with eachother is impecable.

  • whats the name of the song when she does the solo performance?

  • fantastic!

  • mmmhhh ^-^

  • What a great video! I am totally going to check out the website! Love how it looks more like a workout and with a little added choreography. This would totally help with trying to figure out how to do snake arms more gracefully. Thanks!

  • wow! Love iiiiit!

  • they must have to practice a lot to get all of that stomach strength they must be good at crunches

  • don't know if it's about that... I've been doing it since i was a kid.

  • don't lose hope girl you can do it! trust your self! do some research for the basic steps!

  • OMG!!!!!!!!!

    i love bellydance

i want to be a bellydancer so bad:))

    love it

    ♥bri

  • I have dozens of bellydance instructional dvds

Sera's East Coast Tibal dvd is the best of instruction. She is a very good teacher, her instruction was so easy to understand. Some bellydance moves, I was not understanding, until she explained it, it was ... oh now that is clicking.

She is by far the best teacher I have found on instructional dvd's

  • GREAT,TERRIFIC ***** 5 stern

  • I just may have to get this dvd! I love that girl's mohawk/pony tail! I love Warcraft! lol. Really tho, it's cool.

  • This is mean!! What a cool, contemporary version of Belly Dancing!

  • mmh,.. looks amazing ^^

  • здорово!

  • this is a crazy video, but hey I like it! :)

  • looks like a great video!

  • what's the name of the dancer?? she's amazing!!

  • Does anyone else think at the end she looks like she came out of a world of warcraft game?

  • hahaha you're right she does

  • This is one of my favorite tribal videos. I highly recommend it for instructional purposes.

  • so coolllllllllll

  • I have this very video, its incredibly helpful and goes at a nice pace.

  • hey I knew the first song!! awesome dj!!! david starfire!!

  • Nice vid, came up on the "recommended for you" list so I thought I'd check it out, the beginning has Sashi written all over it (and she teaches too).

To most of you posters, I like all forms of belly dancing, but tribal gets the most attention from me because it's modern and different and Rachel Brice shed alot of light into that. But my god, lots of retarded posts in here, why can't we all just get along? :P

  • que vaina tan extraña unas goticas bailando danza arabe?

  • SEXXXY!

  • for mojgan17. there are no egyptian or turkish people in this group, probably because they didn't seek the group out. and the group was probably in no hurry to seek out token dancers. this is america and we blend and make other styles and cultures our own. not copies our own. blended culture. seek the group out and dance.and contribute. if you are good enough, they will blend in your style. its an honor that someone feels you are good enough to emulate.

  • good

  • So good!!! :)

I have made a bellydancing video. i havent taken lessons or anything. i was just wanting to have a laugh and give it a go.

please comment and plz subscribe if you like its

    very much appreciated xx

  • i love the song at the end any body know the name of it

  • im pretty sure it's

Spiro & Haj Feat. Blacklight - Homemade

  • Awesome costumes and dances! Where do I buy that outfit....please -- tell me I'm not just raving about it... I want one!

  • To add, Meche8099:

I do not agree with most allegations of "racism" towards Arabs, for instance, when it comes to how men are oftentimes harrassing Western or Latn women and thinking they d be "easy".

This is a widespread behaviour that I as a mixed person with black wavy hair, bronze ski and light blue eyes have often experienced by Arab youth in European cities. got blue eyes, must be Western - sl**. If a large amount of Arabs behave that way - it s not racism to me, they re choosing that way!

  • i did not mean to offend you in any way, and i do agree with you 100% about the "racism". by the way, i loved ur home page!!!

  • hi meche!! sorry I could not reply earlier.. I wanted to write you a personal msg but somehow my inbox here was done, bad response from server.

I did not feel offended at all!!! i was grateful for your views shared, because it is rare to see someone who knows both sides. necessarily anyone who s predominantly living in "one world" will have a more narrow point of view than someone who knows both and can find the "middle way" :)

what did you mean with homepage, my favourites on youtube? besos :)

  • so no one should aruge about what is right or wrong, if one wants to inform others about how the REAL CULTURE and its true back grounds, then by all means allow them too. don't fight about it, help her out so that she won't misinform others. that way both of you are doing ur part to get the real message across.... good luck ladies....

  • many cultures have had some drastic twist put on them through time. including my own. i am mexican-american, and the foods, drinks, clothing,DANCING,etc. is not the same thing u will find if one would go to the small village where the rest of my family is from.

  • wow! some peps get really mad about some of the craziest things. I am American as well and I am married to a non-american. I can understand how some may think we have our nose stuck in the air, but at the same time, one must realize how racist such comments make you sound...even if ur not; and i do not feel that u are.

  • meche8099 thanks for your suggestions and hints..

They are insightful and helpful, as they seem to be coming from a person who knows bout both sides.

On the "racist" I tend to not agree, because to me racism is related to qualities or "defects" of ppl based on their blood, the "racial features" they are born with. A behaviour is a choice of every human being, so I do not like to subsume it under "racism" which is much more wicked as it limits ppl to what they cannot alter, colour and stuff.

  • lol... is this debate still raging?? :)

  • .... So get that chip off your shoulder dinavienna.. as it was the ordinary women performing this dance that I was referring to, the women who, like myself.. have had children.. eat normally, and dont perfect and hone their bodies, yet perform the dance, in my opinion, (which, by the way i am entitled to.. just as well.. ).. if u feel i am being prejudiced towards Arabian women.. tough shit.... and by the way.. there are greek and turkish belly dancers also... not just Egyptian...

  • I therefore feel this cliché is a) not based on real body shapes in the Mideast b) just another orientalism, which I personally do not like.

Btw, you might be againt perfecting and honing one s body - I am "pro" it and wished Mideastern girls were "entitled" to do more toning - it s considered harmful (to lose virginity) and indecent among many families in the Mideast, when in fact musclin one s body as a young girl brought me pride and awareness of my STRENGTH which Mideastern girls would need!

  • "get that chip off your shoulder dinavienna"

I do not understand this expression..

of course rounder women are "entitled" to do the dance, and feel good with it, actually that s the best about it!

I am sorry if I offend you, but the cliché often stuck with rounder Western women who - as you say - have had kids and might not be in "perfect" shape (whatever that s supposed to be) - that Arab women are voluptuous often *gets* to me. The average Arab girl to me is rather skinny (like Asians).

  • The expression means.. stop being so touchy!! I wasnt at all saying that Asian or Arabian women are fat! hell if i did my friends would kill me!! (most of whom are actually egyptian, greek and Asian lol)

Just for the record.. im actually a skinny woman myself, despite having had 3 children.. but I do have a little "belly" as do most women.. and all I was saying was here it is.. yet another video where the dancers are stick thin, stomachs as flat as boards.. where are the real women?? :)

  • :))) I see.. I did not mean it to be touchy, came across wrongly I guess/fear?! :)

I can see what you mean, after having kids I ll probably be rounder myself, and you are right unrealistic body images are unhealthy for the "normal" women out there. Not everyone stays 20 for the rest of their lives ;)

I can see what you mean now.. btw I think Sera is a mother already :) on the one hand I like encouragement and the promotion of work on one s body, on the other hand it surely puts pressure!

  • ps I m glad you did not mean to say Arab women are fat - you may laugh, but the cliché is going around the world!! I think it s mostly because at least in Europe for a very long time round housewives have been doing bellydance to be attractive for their husbands, taught by orientalists very unauthentic videos by other European housewives. 1st reaction to bellydance: Where s your fat to bellydance with? I hate this question coz it s so inaccurate :) see what I mean?

  • i totally agree with you! there is one woman who does belly dance but i cant remember her name. I am what you consider a "real woman" lol but i dont sell dvds. I really enjoyed this one woman who belly danced because she wasnt super thin. I think in order for you to be the master of "jiggle and wiggle" you have to have some form of a pooch! lol

  • awsome

  • I pretty much like the futuristic performance - I respect this a lot more, actually, than many American cabaret performances who claim to be "authentic" when they re not - and often spread downright nonsense on the artform of oriental dance too (including Suhaila Salimpour having invented it or similar things).

  • well did you know Suhalia Salimpour invented tribal dance? I bet not. This is just a branch off of her work. It was thanks to her and her original students (Bal-Anat) that this dance came into play. I respect all forms of belly dancing because in the end they all came from the same origin. It's just each dancer has a different purpose for dancing. You kinda have to remember that my friend! :D

  • all "look" and feel like bellydancing to an Arab eye it has much of the soul of Arab women's dancing, actually more than much of the Cabaret performances (incl S.S. and many of her students): Companionship between women, fun among women, dancing in a circle (or line like in American tribal style). Manytimes girls from the Orients dance in circles at clubbings, letting one in and follow her, then she calls the next one in.. very much like ATS actually!

I do not see ANYof this soul in S.S./Am. cab

  • Well thanks for the infos in any case - I have right away clarify I have not grown up or lived longer in the US; so I rely on internet and online articles with the info I have and am aware of. What my impression is:

S.S. has developed the muscle and drill theory behind what most tribal dancers nowadays do.

So if you see tribal from the technical stance - probably yes, but unconsciously created.

I do not see Am. tr style as a technicality, but a philosphophy behind it.

Even though it does not at

  • omg.... dude thats wut i was saying. she had founded it, it branched off from her students who taught it, and then it just got more and more popular adding different techniques. Thats with any dance or music though! There's no philosphy behyind AM tribal. It was designed for people who didnt want to have the tradition that regular belly dancing has. Read some more dude, you're starting to get it.

  • I do not agree.

And I do not have to read more, as I am seeing a philosophy and tradition behind ATS that is actually closer to my cultural heritage. I watch the group interaction in ATS and the denial of following norms of sexiness and seduction, which American cabaret has degraded bellydance to (as well as Arabian dancers in many cases, too). And Kajira Djoumahna and Carolena Nericcio are hardly Suhaila's students to take that philosophy from her - besides she never shows that spirit, so...

  • you still dont get what I am saying. I KNOW EVERYTHING YOURE ALREADY SAYING!!! Why are you telling me? YES ATF and AT was created just for people without the tradition! People dance for many different ways and reasons. Nobody can tell you that it's considered "forms of sexiness and seduction" UNLESS YOU LET THEM! all dances should be respected. You dance for your reasons and many others dance for theirs Im SO glad Im writing a paper to inform people of this stereotypical crap

  • I am not pleased to hear you will be writing a paper "to inform people" because I do not see much grounds on which you will be able to educate on this matter.

I am saying ATS is much closer to the tradition and feel of Mideasterners in its emphasis on companionship among women than American cabaret sexed-up glamour and seductiveness often is.

All I see is you spreading stereotypes, to be honest like the most pathetic one of Jamila and S. Salimpour basically having "invented" bellydance.

  • you are just so not open minded about anything. what stereoypes am i spreading??? seriously??? i didnt say anyt stereotype so shut your fucking motuh because YOU ARE THE STEREOTYPE! IS IT BECAUSE THE COLOR OF MY SKIN THAT I CANNOT DANCE? IS IT BECAUSE THE COLOR OF MY SKIN I CANNOT TEACH OR INFORM? omfg i agreed with you on the cabaret! cabaret is nothing but flashy smashy and doesnt even compare to regular eastern belly dance! You are puttin words in my mouth! STFU

  • oh my, I am not discussing on any such level.

My initial notion you are not in the position of writing articles, and thus educating anyone else on topics like different cultures (inherently comprising different viewpoints) proves correct.

I am not a racist (mixed myself), and the only thing I reproach to Americans (which you are a perfect ex for) is having one s nose extremely high up at first ("I ll show you what the absolute truth is"),then getting nothing short than insulting (sh## the f##..)

  • I dont take insults lightly so i have my nose stuck up in the air is that right? that i have a chip on my shoulder? like the other person you were arguing with right? wow, you have low standards I think i am the right candidate now to tell everyone that stereotyping is wrong if i get it from YOU! sounds to me like you are the racist type to be pointing your fingers at only americans right? just because my land was stolen from me from the british makes me a stuck up american?

  • the "nose in the air" behaviour was prior to anything which could from my understanding be understood as an insult - the belittling sayings as "learn some more, you re slowly beginning to get it" might sound like nothing bad to Americans - because I ve experienced this often on youtube - but are extremely badly received by nationals from other countries. Watch the ending of "Independence Day" with a non-American and you ll see.

If u re interested in discussion, we should move this to private..

  • i didnt say slowly starting to get it. im done arguing with you seeing as it pointless. you insult people and then rub them off because they're an "american". you do it with more than just one person you were arguing with someone earlier saying the same things. Independence day? are you SERIOUS??? that sci-fi piece of crap? youre such a hypocrite when all i was saying was i was agreeing with you, and all you wanted to do was shun everyone away because were "americans". go figure!

  • yours.

    That is what I got.

My point about Independence Day (no one said it s not a shit movie) was Americans (and this is visible in highschool education) are brought up being told they re the best in the world, they ll show the world how things are done. And this manifests in such shit movie's dialogues. I think Americans are seldom told these things because the ones critical of the US bring nothing but pure hatred ("imperialism") towards them, ridiculizing the actual wrong mentality underlyin

  • guitarrockinchick - these are the comments of yours I found belittling and ultimately disrespectful - and from my experience (sorry to say) behaviour widespread in the US:

well did you know Suhalia Salimpour invented tribal dance? I bet not.

you still dont get what I am saying.

Im SO glad Im writing a paper to inform people

Read some more dude, you're starting to get it.

Note at that time of the discussion I was very patient and not getting personal at all. Explainin MY viewpoint, respecting

  • when i said i was glad about writing a paper to inform people i was talking about informing people of stereotypes. I myself am native american and everyone assumes im "indian". i do not come from india so why name me this? It goes the same with belly dance. nobody should make you feel the way you dont want them to. dont let them use your voice. this is what i was telling you the entire time and then you push me further away by putting words in my mouth, u argue with everyone i can tell.

  • and guitarrockinchick:

chances are high you ll be coming across me saying "white girls cant dance" or similar things are untrue and racist when checking US bellydancers entries (inter alia stuff byWDNY, Sandra or Michelle Joyce from California and many others), just to say how ridiculous it is attacking ME for saying nonArab or white girls were not to do bellydancing or couldnt.

I take it you have a lot of rage towards whomever judging from your post - and assume it is not me you intend to hit.

  • YOU ARE A RACIST! BECAUSE I COME FROM AMERICA IM JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE RIGHT? THATS WHAT YOU ARE THINKING AND DONT YOU LIE! you cant even open your mind enough to see that i was agreeing with you! you put words in my mouth and spread false accusations! i never said she invented belly dance YOU DID. i said that when she brought AT here in america along with her mother that they basically invented the ATF belly dance! They set up the grid work that became american tribal fusion. READ A BOOK!

  • I dont really care what its named.. the only thing that isnt realistic... or sorry "traditional" is the fact that they havent actually got any belly to dance with.. they have washboard stomachs.. lol..Native belly dancers have a lot more meat on their midriff... other than that.. good video!

  • phoenixakasha80, "Native belly dancers have a lot more meat on their midriff"?

Strange, the great great stars of Egyptian dance Taheyya Karioca, Samia Gamal - they were famous in the 50ies when the US/Hollywood icons were pretty voluptuous - yet they were extremely slim, like top models of HeidiKlum s shape (so not anorexic I want to say).

Nagwa Fouad as a younger actress was very thin, most Lebanese starlets today are very slim - are those not "Native"?!It s just another prejudice,"round" Arabs

  • The often overlooked fact that most dancing in the Middle East occurs in a social context rather than the more visible and glamorous context of professional nightclub performance, has led to a misunderstanding of the dance's true nature and has given rise to many conflicting theories about its origins. Because this dance is a fusion of many different styles it undoubtedly has a variety of origins, many of which stem from ethnic folk dancing....

  • Yeesh, people. Does the title say "Traditional Belly Dance"? It doesn't for me. It says "East Coast Tribal Bellydance." I'm sorry if this is not what East Coast Tribal Bellydance looks like in it's native India...oh wait, right! There is no East Coast Tribal Bellydance native to India! This is FUSION dance, and not meant to be traditional! Hope this clears things up for all of you who seem to have forgotten that dance is an art form, not a science, religion, or political platform.

  • it's a bit too precise and clean, have some variation girls!

  • If there were only one note in music, then no one would like it. Same with dance.

  • It may not be traditional, but it is a very unique idea. Belly dance is FULL of unique ideas. Sadie and Rachel Brice have totally unique styles and they are both amazing, as is Sera. Tribal Fusion can be just about anything. Try watching some videos on Tribal Revolution 2008 or Ethereal Tribal. Both are very interesting, not traditional, but very awesome. Besides, times change and so does dance. I don't see many people doing disco anymore.

  • So, anyways, don't diss on people's style. Sera is being herself. Asking her to do any other dance would be like asking her to turn her back on herself. Besides, I bet most of the people who are talking bad about this video are really jealous.

  • i like it

  • Well, there's no denying they are a 'bunch of white chicks',however, the execution of belly dance moves requires a tremendous amount of control. The isolation and precision required is quite difficult. I find that belly dance in all its forms is an expression of the individual performing. Whether or not one likes this style of dance is a moot point in regard to the fact that it takes a great deal of dedication and passion to master. Wouldn't it be a dull world if we all liked the same thing?

  • har. ioport, apparently you don't either. Just because they're white...I'm not a mister nor am I white. All I'm saying is that whether or not you appreciate the style, they've worked hard.

Are you a dancer? I would love to see your dancing. Perhaps you could teach these girls something about rhythm and style, as it appears that you are an authority on bellydance.
