Religion has, for better or worse, shaped the modern world. Regardless of whether or not you agree with any "one" of the many religious views and opinions, our planets history has an intrinsic basis in religion. Every religion has been of immeasurable importance to the modern world. The only question now is why we still so fervently cling to it now that it has served its usefulness. There was importance of such belief systems for the development of our species, but no longer.
ALTHOUGH I'M A CONSERVATIVE CHRISTIAN (Baptist), I no longer believe that the Bible teaches eternal torment or suffering. The Bible teaches eternal punishment, but it's not eternal torment. In my popular Internet article, TRADITIONAL DOCTRINE OF HELL EVOLVED FROM GREEK ROOTS, I explain how and why teaching of eternal torment entered early into Christianity and how Scriptures have been misinterpreted and taken out of context to support that teaching. ~Babu G. Ranganathan (B.A. theology/biology)
SCIENCE SHOWS THAT THE UNIVERSE could not have sustained itself eternally because of entropy (even in an open system). Einstein confirmed that space, matter, and time had a beginning! That beginning had to be supernatural because natural laws have no ability to bring the universe into existence from nothing. The supernatural cannot be proved by science but science points to a supernatural intelligence for the origin and order of the universe ~ HOW FORENSIC SCIENCE REFUTES ATHEISM (Article)
EINSTEIN CONFIRMED that space and time are just as physical as matter. That's why space and time can be altered by gravity, and space produces particles. Einstein's equations show that the universe couldn’t be eternal. It had a beginning. Einstein believed, because of science, in the existence of God behind the origin and order of the universe. He didn't believe in a personal God like Christians do, but he did believe science pointed to the existence of an all powerful and intelligent Creator
THE SCIENTIFIC CASE AGAINST ATHEISM: Please read this Internet article of mine published in Russia's English Pravda. It will be a real eye-opener for all who think belief in a Creator is merely subjective blind faith. Also read my article, LIFE ON MARS NO SURPRISE (In the Earth's past there was powerful volcanic activity which spewed life-containing dirt and rocks (meteors) into outer space. Mars may literally have millions tons of Earth soil)
NATURAL LIMITS TO EVOLUTION: Only evolution within "kinds" is genetically possible (i.e. varieties of dogs, cats, etc.), but not evolution across "kinds" (i.e. from worm to human). How were species living and reproducing if their vital structures, organs, reproductive systems hadn't evolved yet? Read my Pravda Internet article: WAR AMONG EVOLUTIONISTS! I discuss: Punctuated Equilibrium, "Junk DNA," genetics, mutations, natural selection, fossils, genetic/biological similarities between species
DAWKINS, HITCHENS, AND HAWKING REFUSE TO DEBATE with creationists who are SCIENTISTS, such as the scientists at The Institute for Creation Research. Dawkins and his friends only debate non-scientist creationists. Read articles by scientists supporting creation at The Institute for Creation Research site. Read analysis from creation scientists about the latest news concerning fossils, astronomy, etc. that you won't read in the main stream media. Visit the Institute for Creation Research site.
WHAT IS SCIENCE? Science simply is knowledge based on observation. No one observed the universe coming by chance or by design, by creation or by macro-evolution. These are positions of faith. The issue is which faith the scientific evidence best supports. Natural laws can explain how an airplane or living cell works, but it's irrational to believe that undirected natural laws can bring about an airplane or a living cell. Read my Internet article: HOW FORENSIC SCIENCE REFUTES ATHEISM
NATURAL SELECTION DOESN'T PRODUCE ANYTHING. It can only "select" from what is produced that has survival value. If a variation occurs that helps a species survive, that survival is called being "selected." That's all its is. There's no conscious selection by nature. It's a passive process. Natural selection is a figure of speech. The term itself is a tautology. Natural selection only operates once there is life and reproduction, not before. Read my article: HOW FORENSIC SCIENCE REFUTES ATHEISM.
NATURAL SELECTION IS NO BLIND WATCHMAKER because it can only "select," not produce or arrange. If a variation survives, that's called being "selected." Natural selection operates only once there is life and reproduction, not before, so it couldn't have been involved in life's origins. A partially-evolved cell (an oxymoron) would quickly disintegrate. It couldn't wait ("survive") millions of years for chance to complete it and then make it alive! Read: HOW FORENSIC SCIENCE REFUTES ATHEISM
IMAGINE A FISH WITH PART FINS, part feet with the fins evolving (transitioning) into feet. What survival benefit would there be? The fish couldn't use its fins or its feet, and there are no fossils showing such a creature ever existed. They only exist on automobile bumper stickers! There are no true transitional forms, either living or fossilized. Evolutionists realize this fact! Read my Internet article: WAR AMONG EVOLUTIONISTS!
APES ARE QUITE COMFORTABLE IN HOW THEY WALK, just as humans are quite comfortable in how they walk. Even a slight change in the position of a muscle or bone, for either, would be excruciatingly painful and would not be an advantage for survival. There's no hard evidence that humans evolved from ape-like creatures anymore than there's hard evidence that apes evolved from four-legged-pawed dog-like creatures. Read Internet article: MISSING LINKS THAT NEVER WERE.
GENETIC INFORMATION CANNOT HAPPEN BY CHANCE, so it's more logical to believe that genetic similarities between all forms of life are due to a common Designer who designed similar functions for similar purposes. It doesn't mean all forms of life are biologically related! Also, "Junk DNA" isn't junk. These non-coding segments of DNA have recently been found to be vital in regulating gene expression. Read my popular Internet article: HOW FORENSIC SCIENCE REFUTES ATHEISM
ALL REAL EVOLUTION ( i.e. varieties of dogs, cats, etc.) in nature is the expression, over time, of already existing genes. Evolution is possible only if there’s information (genes) directing it. Only variations of already existing genes are possible, which means only limited evolution and adaptations are possible. Nature has no ability to invent new genes via random mutations caused by random environmental forces. That’s evolutionary faith, not science. Read my article, WAR AMONG EVOLUTIONISTS!
DO EYES CARRY SCARS OF EVOLUTION? Read this fantastic Internet article by biologist and creationist Brian Thomas. Thomas refutes every argument of a "flawed" design for the eye, and explains how and why the so-called flaw is actually the best thing for the eye. Read the article! It's amazing what facts evolutionists will ignore. Numerous times evolutionists have been proven wrong about their interpretation of a structure as being flawed or useless
what has religion done? well religion is not 1 person, but those who follow it. True you have nuts like those at WBC, but there are THOUSANDS of charities that are christian organizations,i guess all the people the helped don't matter? Do i believe in god, yes, evolution, of course, they don't contradict, because a day on Earth is 24 hours, the bible states the universe was created in 7 days, whats 7 days to god? true that dosen't prove god exists, but its just one theory i have.
@maximunoutlaw32 You're absolutely right, but you don't need religion to have a great charity. The thing is that these people who fund, volunteer, and run the charities are good people. They were motivated to do good things because they are good people. Perhaps some were also motivated by their religion, but all in all the desire to do good is an individual thing. I'm an atheist, and I do good things. You're a theist, and I bet you do good things too. The belief in a god is separate from that.
@KenMacMillan I'm not a spiritual man in any way, but I don't think it would be wrong to say science is sacred. Its results are falsifiable, but it as a process is what keeps the human race running. To question the process of science by proxy, by questioning things which science has shown to be not only accurate but observable; not only truth but reality (be it evolution, the big band, or climate change), people unwittingly damage our society and species. This is not religion, this is fact.
@Zephanus I'm an atheist but some people take it to far. Most christians in western society fully accept scientific knowledge without any problem, even here in America. Christian creationists are not only a minority among christians, but they're a minority among creationists. Instead of simply attacking creationism which is easy since christian theologians have taught against it for 1500 years, people want to destroy religion itself. This is dangerous because...
No civilization has ever existed without a unifying religion. Most people need some sort of guidance & in my opinion that's what religion is, a life guidance system. Scientists could write a more accurate system but to the best of my knowledge nobody has done it yet. If it didn't support individualism & small limited government I wouldn't follow it anyway.
What Galileo the theologian did was support the Copernican system which had already been around 73 years and was used regularly for astrology. The problem is that he had personal issues with a man named Tommaso Caccini who preached a sermon against heliocentrism which ended Galileo in court. The inquisitors saw that it was a petty issue & dismissed the case with one exception, they didn't consider themselves qualified to make a determination on heliocentrism so they outsourced it to...
@KenMacMillan consultants who said heliocentrism was ridiculous & heretical. In the end, Galileo got a slap on the wrist & had to promise not to write about heliocentrism anymore. 15 years later, Galileo's friend had become Pope & gave him permission to write about heliocentrism as long as he did it hypothetically & included the argument that since god is omnipotent the determination can never be certain. Galileo agreed but when he wrote the book he put that argument in the mouth of an...
idiot, completely ridiculing his friend the Pope who incidentally was in a power struggle which could cost him his life. He ended up back in court & it turns out that he never told the Pope that he wasn't allowed to write about heliocentrism. The court wanted to give him another slap on the wrist but the humiliated Pope decided to make an example out of him & he ended up on house arrest for the rest of his life. There's a lot more to that story but I've used up enough space on the clip, lol.
@KenMacMillan Scandinavian countries do just fine. They are MOSTLY atheist. There may be a historical precedent for a need of a unifying philosophy yes, but why doesn't rational thinking and in-depth investigation count for that? Fact is, it does, we don't need a delusion for unity, and we don't need to write a philosophy beyond "think about things and don't take any information for granted." Anyways I'm fine with religious people if they can accept fact, though I disagree with them drastically.
@KenMacMillan "No civilization has ever existed without a unifying religion."
A truth with some modification? Many polytheistic civilizations have existed. It's common to unify them all in a pantheon, but moral principles need not be unified by religion in such a society. I agree that you do need, if not "guidance" then at least uniformity of worldview of some sort. If you don't, the civilization will fragment due to internal disagreements. Science and humanism can provide this though.
@KenMacMillan And by "humanism" I only mean the general idea that society agrees that human welfare on a broad scale is the overarching goal, and that debate in society can figure out what this entail using logic, reason and empirical evidence in addition to regular democratic tools like playing victims, lying etc =).
@neoarcadezr Im not about to argue when they landed... I could never stoop to such trollish levels, but honestly whether they land yesterday or in 1800's it really does NOT effect my or YOUR own life.
"if you think humans reached the moon in 1969 ..you ..are ..a FOOL!!!" tell that to buzz aldrin to his face lol, sucker punch commin up for the conspiracy nutcases
Denying the Creator is Denying yourself. Everything in existence is God even yourself, you have the capacity to change everything around you. We are bounded by Universal Laws of Karma, Law of Attraction, Law of Earth, Law of Space, Law of Gravity and so on. We created this whole physical journey for an adventure.... So have fun in your journey here on earth, Do what you want but remember dear God that you have to abide the Law of Karma, Do Good you will be blessed with Good.
Ugh, that Texas preacher is a troll incarnate. Watch that whole video of his without facepalming and you'll have succeeded where I have failed...
Just another example of the mental gymnastics that this mindset requires.
Reverend Michelin Man here seems to think that Carbon 14 is an elaborate hoax to discredit the Bible. Yes, fluffy, and so is every single star in the sky that emits light that travels at speed c. It HAS to be a conspiracy!
"Provided religion, and the religious, don't trespass into the arena of science." ??
What do you mean by that? Because of our relationship with the Lord (that you and others think we are deluded by) we cannot get into science? Unreal! Supercilious - you are!!! Just because someone hasn't experienced God yet, or refuses to - does not mean He doesn't exist. God exists, Science exists. Difference is some people accredit the wonders of science to God.
Oh come on dprjones, you could have also mentioned the Commdore 64 and the Commodore Amiga!! ;) Kudos to you though for givng a mention to the ZX Spectrum :) Greetz from Australia.
@Zoiros85 You are more than welcome! As hard as it is for my sons to imagine, I was once 25. I am more than twice that now. It can be one of the best times in life, but you don't always realize it at the time. Have fun and make the most of it!
Does anyone actually realize that religion is control trough fear and God is Love? Don't equate religion with God, or whatever you want to call her/him.
Also, science is not contradictory to the concept of God, only to made up bull shit called religion.
@sdrawkcabgnipytmi I don't think 'God is an emotion'. Look, like atheists I think of myself as a rational man, if sciences proves something, it's real. What I mean by the phrase God is Love is the following: God is everything that is, aka everything and nothing. The characteristics of this thing can be describe as Love.
You know what I find irritating? That atheists and agnostics who are supposed to be free thinking individuals have such a limited possible vision of God?
@VincentTheBoss Why do you limit yourself to the Christian vision of the truth which is for a large part a fairytale? This way you make the debate very easy for yourselves and rather boring for us atheists, agnostics and 'believers' who have long progressed beyond the realm of 'debates' between atheists and crazy shitfucks who live in the bible belt and hate gays.
We all now that chritianity is largely bullshit, now, the next time you debate, debate a believer who thinks beyond dogma.
"God is everything that is, aka everything and nothing. The characteristics of this thing can be describe as Love."
That statement makes no sense to me. As a literal statement it's a direct logical contradiction and I'm afraid that I don't get the metaphor if that's what it is.
I have no vision of God. God is invisible, there is no evidence to indicate such a being exists. The only exception would be if you define God as something which has been shown to exist (for example "God is the universe"), but such a definition seems entirely meaningless.
@sdrawkcabgnipytmi I agree that there is no proof for the existence of God, I never claimed that. I also agree that if you equate God with Universe the term becomes meaningless. I don't.
When I said your vision of God I did not mean your personal beliefs but rather that when you discuss the existence of God with a 'believer' you pick the ones like traditional christians. It is easy to argue with them.
Pick one who doesn't claim evolution is a myth and who believes God hates gays.
The reason I don't pick these people is because they are not vocal enough to be noticed by me. Nor am I aware that they are actively spreading absurd lies to support their distorted views of reality which they wish to force on everyone else.
"God is everything that is, aka everything and nothing. The characteristics of this thing can be describe as Love."
The characteristics of everything and nothing most certainly cannot be described as love. That statement is nonsensical.
@sdrawkcabgnipytmi They are not vocal because they don't believe in enforcing anything is necessary.
In essence everything IS Love, it's hard to see that because of all the shit humans create on this planet. However it doesn't have to be that way. We have the power to change everything.
But still debate them, this way there is really intellectual exchange.
Ever heard of Cornel West. Now that is somebody with interesting views who can debate.
I must be the same age as dprjones. I kind of wish he mentioned how we used to have to do school papers, i.e going to the library, requesting books, searching the microfiche etc... Anyway I can't help thinking our very existence is a miracle. The incalcuable number of random events that had to occur over and ocean of time just for me to be here typing on my computer are unfathomable. Still doesn't make me believe in a god. But I think it makes me more tollerent than other athiest of those who do
What has religion achieved in terms of innovation or advancements in the last 40 years? I tried. I honestly tried for 5 min. to come up with a single, positive innovation, advancement or achievement in any field (science, arts, ethics, politics etc.). I cannot think of a single positive innovation.
Even negative innovations are few. Suicide terrorism? It's not entirely new. But the 'suicide-bomb-vest' worn by jihadis is new so I guess this one contribution to fashion exhausts the list.
$345 in 1971? What is that adjusted for inflation...maybe $1800?? Dayamn! And I thought my first 50mhz computer back in '94 as a 13 year old was expensive ($1200?)
@PicklePumpers, well your supposed capacity for reason just drowned in a cup of piss. Choice isn't FREEwill. Go and at least read a dictionary if you want to be cocky at talk logic with me your arrogance has just made you look a prize prick. When you have actually comprehended and fully understood what the false concept of human Freewill consists of via some deep study, and what it's ultimate implications are, then get back to me and I'll continue to reason with you further. Bet you won't:-))).
"Yeah....I'm not impressed with your science, as I talk through a microphone to be recorded on a video camera to talk about the PHOTOCOPY that I have of a document made on a printing press that I can now broadcast to people around the world in an instant over the Internet....not to mention the engineering marvels that keep the clothes from falling off my fat ass...despite the scientific knowledge of what a healthy diet is"
@KingHeathen Don't you listen? Satan invented all the technology. It's not in the bible! After all, the universe is divided into good and evil. So if it's not in the bible, it's not god, hence evil and "satanic". The printing press is therefore a satanic plot to pollute the minds of his true believers, by printing un-truths like um... er.. the bible. So... technologhy is evil. The bible is printed with technology. The bible is ... EVIL??!!! (BOOOOMMM) - one fundamentalist head just exploded.
I'd like to see how fat that preacher would be if he still had to hunt his own food. Dude should thank science every time he stuffs his chubby face with store-bought food.
@VesusSheist What?! The good lord provides those tripple cheese burgers and buckets of fried chicken he crams down his face. Science has nothing to do with it. Except for pasturuzation, sterilization, vaccines, selective breeding, genetics, mordern agricultural methods, modern modes of transportation, etc... Except for all that stuff, the lord provides. (P.S. I wonder if he would like to return to the medicine, sanitaion, communication etc.. methods that are as old as his bible).
@VesusSheist you know the preacher class doesn't do their own hunting they've always sat on their fat asses and let the real men of the tribe bring food back.
I agree entirely with what your saying and you make lots of good points, but you make out people who believe in god to be incorrect and almost inferior, but then say at the same time that they cannot be dissproved. Don't you think that some people who believe in a god because it comforts them to think that there might be something else, and that we are not all alone in our universe rather than it being what they actually believe to be true in the bible. However this is a great video and merry C
@theawakener7 So we do agree, then, at least to a degree. The 1911 KJV is trash, King James and his lackeys had an agenda to push, but I haven't heard of Scarlet's or Rotherham's Emphasized. I don't really have time to learn Hebrew and Aramaic so reading the original text isn't really an option for me, so good translations are important, but not easy to find. I have a copy of the Torah that a rabbi recommended, but that doesn't really help for NT or certain books in the OT that aren't Torah.
@Djarms67 Well, to be fair, the people pushed for the technological advances, the companies were thinking about how they could make money out of it. I spose you could argue the demand of money pushed them to keep advancing, but then, as with all things capital, the incesntive is profit, which can actually hinder the process.
iPad could've been made many years ago, but they were too busy reselling the iPod with different gimmicks, finding out ideas to advertise and buying out other companies.
A rather kind message for the season, with quite a bit of deserved criticism of our religious institutions! May you and yours enjoy this festive season.
To all believers: Science and the scientific method, work. With it, we have advanced our knowledge of the world around us and improved our situation as a species.
@theawakener7 If the "good news" is the secret sadism fetish that most Christians have about people burning in hell and all that, I have no use for it.
I had an Odyssey! Gigantic potentiometer controls and the "cartridges" were just wiring templates that connected the "dot generator" modules inside in different ways. No IC chips at all if I recall... all discreet components. Holy crap that thing was a miracle.
Also had an Odyssey 2, which is slightly less impressive in retrospect. :)
@theawakener7 I'm telling you that I don't know what your idea of "good news" is, and it varies from denomination to denomination anyway. Maybe yours is a tad more appealing, but it's not very honest of me to disregard anyone's ideas just because I disagree with most people on the subject. Hell, if you're as critical of mainstream big money Christianity as I am I suspect we already agree anyway.
@theawakener7 You're speculating... I was raised Roman Catholic. The reason I don't believe in god is because the evidence suggests that their is no god. If you have some proof that everybody is missing please share instead of dismissing people as too close minded. In my opinion that is the real cop-out. Suggesting you have real hard proof but refusing to share it is way too convienent.
@fiddl3r It's easier to close your eyes, ears and mind and continue to believe in something than to accept the evidence to the contrary. It is you who is like Han solo.. stuck in your block of ignorance. Again... if you have proof, please share. You could be a very rich person!
Obviously I'm of the same generation as you. When I think of the advances in technology and science that I have witnessed, it's astounding. That mobile phone would shrink significantly in just five years, for example. Great video!
I can't believe that fat git is proud that his old book remains with the same flaws throughout time. It's true though: the Bible doesn't change, it remains full of shite.
Science is not a thing, you cannot touch it, it has no personality, it cannot say anything. science improves our lives, yes, employs people, yes, a lot truth, yes, a lot of error, yes, it brought healing, yes, and death, yes (modern warfare). The only beef I have is when people say stupid things like, Science proves there is not God. Just because we know how rainbows are formed doesn't disprove that God put it there. Happy Holidays.
@theawakener7 Great GOOD NEWS.. so God is going to cure amputees... no? God will give us the answer to cold fusion.... no? Er, God will give us everlastic life right? Right, well fuck off, I don't want it.
Somehow I just knew dawkins would say something about god. It''s good to know that in 23 years somethings don't change. Odd thing to draw comfort from but eh.
The nonviolent resistance of the early church inspired the tactics that allowed the civil rights movement to be successful. There's also the general acceptance of the right hand path of philosophy as being "good" in western culture. The anti-scientific corporatist beliefs of Ayn Rand followers are far more destructive to science and politics than the beliefs of even the most insane creationist.
Excellent vid to summerise science advancement over the yrs. Makes me feels good reminding me i'm not living in a stagnated world like that fat dumbo.
Those stupid science books! What has their constant changing ever done for us? Other than give us the technology to build a microphone from which I can shout spew a bunch of bullshit which will be recorded by a camera (also science) so that I can get my retarded shit sold around the country (even world!) having to with how awesome the bible is for never changing!
Even as a christian i have a lot of respect for you bro. I agree with you that religion should'nt trespass into the area of science or try and influence education. The freedom of religion is a human right and when religous people mess with education they are violating that human right.
@Doomcharger And those video cameras that allow me to record this. And that photocopier that allowed the 300+ year old bible to be copied! How dare science spread it's own findings and not only the words of Jesus!
WOW! I lived through all of those inventions and advancements! As far as religions advancing, don't forget their out and out political campaign against gays and a women right to reproductive choice! They were busy little beavers!
i mean, yeah its a good video, but havn't you done a video on this topic like once a week for the past year or so? doesn't it get a little old? yeah we get it, religion is bad...
I'm a christian, and i think this video is fantastic :')
Fatso over there just happens to show most of us how nostalgic the church and most religions are. I don't really see how science really disproves anything. Best representation of a god to me would dr manhattan from watchmen, a scientist AND a god :P
I'm gonna write a book called the SCHMIBLE... I will create as a character in the that book... someone called JEBUS, JOBES, BARY and BOB.... BOB created everything. The END.
Haha you atheist seek approvel from the believer of God and we do not hate you like you hate us. We are taught to love and those Christians do not love are not really christians. But is your choice not to believe in God but as a warning you will go to hell. If you do not believe in God i do not even know what you are living your life for. Is it for sex, food or money? you will die one day and what then? There is no moral without God only evil. Survival of the fittest.
@mafiagman I don't even know where to start with you, dude. First, did you finish the fourth-grade? I mean, even with spell check, you're still making grammatical errors? Seriously, dude. Don't you know you capitalize Christian? Don't you see how absurd it is to send someone to eternal, infinite torment just because they don't believe something? Don't you see how idiotic that is? I love the way you end your post. "Survival of the fittest." Uh, yeah. Do you even know what you're saying?
@fkerpants What a child you are hahaha. And a nerd i might say but is ok. This is UTUBE and not science fair but i guess you would not be in any science fair cause you are in your mother's basement. I can't waste my time on spell checking just for you. And yes if you really think about the survival of the fittest i could come and kill you and take your money and that would make my life alot better. But as a CHRISTIAN it stop me from doing that.
@Doomcharger So who are these so called scientist atheist ever did for us lol other than the evolution theory which is totally useless. People like Issac Newton who change this world not evolutionist.
@mafiagman Useless? Really? How about being able to predict resistance in disease or the impact of the climate on a species over the next hundred generations? And as for those "Scientist Atheists", look around you. The computer, the internet, the wall outlet, the TV, and EVERY OTHER object in your home is a product of science or a consequence there of.
Does it bother you that we find your threat of hell amusing ?
There is no moral without God ? ... if you want morality stay clear of God he's a murderer who also ordered murderer, rape, slavery, sexism, racism, infanticide and he was nice enough to committ global genocide too - its a good job he's fiction.
@NefariousVirtuoso88 It is not a threat from me or anything lol. If you see it as a threat well i am sad for you. It is a warning from God so yes if you jump off a building would you die? I have to warn you yes you would die. Is that a threat? There is no moral without God. Who said murder is wrong? Who said rape is wrong? God said it. And why you say God is a murderer ? your hate toward God is blinding you, it is men who kill not God. If there is no God and we all gonna be like the Communist.
I say murder and rape is wrong and so does our society. I have about as hate for the Tooth Fairy as God. I suggest you read the Bible your God is a murderer greater than all serial killers put together could ever dream of being.
" If there is no God and we all gonna be like the Communist "
The fat preacher doesn't support science, yet he speaks in the microphone and makes him self louder through speakers...... fuckin pisses me off

IMAGINE A FISH WITH PART FINS, part feet with the fins evolving (transitioning) into feet. What survival benefit would there be? GENETIC INFORMATION CANNOT HAPPEN BY CHANCE, so it's more logical to believe that genetic similarities between all forms of life are due to a common Designer who designed similar functions for similar purposes. Read my article, WAR AMONG EVOLUTIONISTS!

what has religion done? well religion is not 1 person, but those who follow it. True you have nuts like those at WBC, but there are THOUSANDS of charities that are christian organizations,i guess all the people the helped don't matter? Do i believe in god, yes, evolution, of course, they don't contradict, because a day on Earth is 24 hours, the bible states the universe was created in 7 days, whats 7 days to god? true that dosen't prove god exists, but its just one theory i have.
maximunoutlaw32 11 months ago

Zephanus 1 year ago

Galileo agreed but when he wrote the book he put that argument in the mouth of an...

Zephanus 1 year ago 2
@KenMacMillan "No civilization has ever existed without a unifying religion."
A truth with some modification? Many polytheistic civilizations have existed. It's common to unify them all in a pantheon, but moral principles need not be unified by religion in such a society. I agree that you do need, if not "guidance" then at least uniformity of worldview of some sort. If you don't, the civilization will fragment due to internal disagreements. Science and humanism can provide this though.
Gnomefro 1 year ago
@KenMacMillan And by "humanism" I only mean the general idea that society agrees that human welfare on a broad scale is the overarching goal, and that debate in society can figure out what this entail using logic, reason and empirical evidence in addition to regular democratic tools like playing victims, lying etc =).

Does anyone actually realize that religion is control trough fear and God is Love? Don't equate religion with God, or whatever you want to call her/him.
Also, science is not contradictory to the concept of God, only to made up bull shit called religion.
VincentTheBoss 1 year ago
@VincentTheBoss
"and God is Love"
So God is an emotion? God is not a conscious being. There's no reason to prey to God.
Alright, but why call it God. We already have a perfectly good word for love.
sdrawkcabgnipytmi 1 year ago
@sdrawkcabgnipytmi I don't think 'God is an emotion'. Look, like atheists I think of myself as a rational man, if sciences proves something, it's real. What I mean by the phrase God is Love is the following: God is everything that is, aka everything and nothing. The characteristics of this thing can be describe as Love.
You know what I find irritating? That atheists and agnostics who are supposed to be free thinking individuals have such a limited possible vision of God?
VincentTheBoss 1 year ago
@VincentTheBoss Why do you limit yourself to the Christian vision of the truth which is for a large part a fairytale? This way you make the debate very easy for yourselves and rather boring for us atheists, agnostics and 'believers' who have long progressed beyond the realm of 'debates' between atheists and crazy shitfucks who live in the bible belt and hate gays.
We all now that chritianity is largely bullshit, now, the next time you debate, debate a believer who thinks beyond dogma.
VincentTheBoss 1 year ago
@VincentTheBoss
"God is everything that is, aka everything and nothing. The characteristics of this thing can be describe as Love."
That statement makes no sense to me. As a literal statement it's a direct logical contradiction and I'm afraid that I don't get the metaphor if that's what it is.
sdrawkcabgnipytmi 1 year ago
@VincentTheBoss
"...have such a limited possible vision of God"
I have no vision of God. God is invisible, there is no evidence to indicate such a being exists. The only exception would be if you define God as something which has been shown to exist (for example "God is the universe"), but such a definition seems entirely meaningless.
sdrawkcabgnipytmi 1 year ago
@sdrawkcabgnipytmi I agree that there is no proof for the existence of God, I never claimed that. I also agree that if you equate God with Universe the term becomes meaningless. I don't.
When I said your vision of God I did not mean your personal beliefs but rather that when you discuss the existence of God with a 'believer' you pick the ones like traditional christians. It is easy to argue with them.
Pick one who doesn't claim evolution is a myth and who believes God hates gays.
VincentTheBoss 1 year ago
@VincentTheBoss If you're up to it.
VincentTheBoss 1 year ago
@VincentTheBoss
That statement is nonsensical.
sdrawkcabgnipytmi 1 year ago
@sdrawkcabgnipytmi They are not vocal because they don't believe in enforcing anything is necessary.
In essence everything IS Love, it's hard to see that because of all the shit humans create on this planet. However it doesn't have to be that way. We have the power to change everything.
But still debate them, this way there is really intellectual exchange.
Ever heard of Cornel West. Now that is somebody with interesting views who can debate.

What has religion achieved in terms of innovation or advancements in the last 40 years? I tried. I honestly tried for 5 min. to come up with a single, positive innovation, advancement or achievement in any field (science, arts, ethics, politics etc.). I cannot think of a single positive innovation.

When you asked 'what has religion done in the last 40 years' I was expecting scenes of war and terrorists and 9/11 and oppression.

"My bible isn't changin'!" Great. Well, I'm happy with changing science with mobile phones, computers and medicine. But that's just me y'know.

@benthediceman1 Damn that science for creating the microphone which allows me to rant!
Doomcharger 1 year ago
@Doomcharger And those video cameras that allow me to record this. And that photocopier that allowed the 300+ year old bible to be copied! How dare science spread it's own findings and not only the words of Jesus!

Great video. I enjoyed it and will be showing it to other people.

WOW! I lived through all of those inventions and advancements! As far as religions advancing, don't forget their out and out political campaign against gays and a women right to reproductive choice! They were busy little beavers!

Yes, that is true, despite the encouragement of the Pope. So much so that the book was dedicated to him.
There is no conflict between those two facts.
Nobody knows why he delegated the writing or why he waited so long, though there are many hypothesises.
What we do know is that his pupil did a very poor job on finish writing it so that the final product was considered a joke by Gallileos peers.

I'm a christian, and i think this video is fantastic :')
Fatso over there just happens to show most of us how nostalgic the church and most religions are. I don't really see how science really disproves anything. Best representation of a god to me would dr manhattan from watchmen, a scientist AND a god :P

Survival of the fittest.
mafiagman 1 year ago
@mafiagman I don't even know where to start with you, dude. First, did you finish the fourth-grade? I mean, even with spell check, you're still making grammatical errors? Seriously, dude. Don't you know you capitalize Christian? Don't you see how absurd it is to send someone to eternal, infinite torment just because they don't believe something? Don't you see how idiotic that is? I love the way you end your post. "Survival of the fittest." Uh, yeah. Do you even know what you're saying?
fkerpants 1 year ago
@fkerpants What a child you are hahaha. And a nerd i might say but is ok. This is UTUBE and not science fair but i guess you would not be in any science fair cause you are in your mother's basement. I can't waste my time on spell checking just for you. And yes if you really think about the survival of the fittest i could come and kill you and take your money and that would make my life alot better. But as a CHRISTIAN it stop me from doing that.
mafiagman 1 year ago
@mafiagman And when the scientists die off the rest of us will revert to a primitive state in about a century or so.
Doomcharger 1 year ago
@Doomcharger So who are these so called scientist atheist ever did for us lol other than the evolution theory which is totally useless. People like Issac Newton who change this world not evolutionist.
mafiagman 1 year ago
@mafiagman Useless? Really? How about being able to predict resistance in disease or the impact of the climate on a species over the next hundred generations? And as for those "Scientist Atheists", look around you. The computer, the internet, the wall outlet, the TV, and EVERY OTHER object in your home is a product of science or a consequence there of.

@mafiagman
NefariousVirtuoso88 1 year ago
@NefariousVirtuoso88 It is not a threat from me or anything lol. If you see it as a threat well i am sad for you. It is a warning from God so yes if you jump off a building would you die? I have to warn you yes you would die. Is that a threat? There is no moral without God. Who said murder is wrong? Who said rape is wrong? God said it. And why you say God is a murderer ? your hate toward God is blinding you, it is men who kill not God. If there is no God and we all gonna be like the Communist.
mafiagman 1 year ago

@mafiagman
I say murder and rape is wrong and so does our society. I have about as hate for the Tooth Fairy as God. I suggest you read the Bible your God is a murderer greater than all serial killers put together could ever dream of being.
" If there is no God and we all gonna be like the Communist "
- .... this is utter insanity.
