Compared with some of the other forces in the Big 12 - Nebraska, Mizzou, OU, and UT in football; KU in basketball - the Wildcats seem like - ironically - the ultimate underdogs. Yet they've still managed to triumph, and that's probably part of why I'm so fond of them.
I'm a Gator, and I cheer for my Gators first, but I'd still love to see K-State win their first national title someday - even in something more "under the radar" like rowing or golf.

K-State had nothing but now at least has a chance to be respectably competitive--at least as long as Bill is still on the scene.

@kstatefreak42 This is from a Nebraska fan and I respect Bill Snyder. The first time he came to KSU, he took over one of the worst programs in college football and made them a legit program. He will do it again but it might take a few years. You need to knock it off with the hick insults, there are hicks in every state. Having Nebraska and Kansas State both being good makes the Big12 North get some much needed respect from the Big 12 South.

Bill Snyder inherited the equivalent of a water pistol against the nuclear arsenals of the likes of Oklahoma and Nebraska in the Big 8 and was still able to single-handedly turn the Wildcats into a force in the new Big Twelve North. Dr. Tom was a better X's-and-O's coach but Snyder was a better program builder. What he did in Manhattan was, in reality, a miracle.

I might be a little prejudice, but what Snyder has done at Kansas State is the best coaching job, in the history of athletics, at any level. Maybe, what the coach did for the 1980 U.S. hockey team is commendable, but Snyder has done it over a long time.

@kstatefreak42 This is from a Nebraska fan and I respect Bill Snyder. The first time he came to KSU, he took over one of the worst programs in college football and made them a legit program. He will do it again but it might take a few years. You need to knock it off with the hick insults, there are hicks in every state. Having Nebraska and Kansas State both being good makes the Big12 North get some much needed respect from the Big 12 South.

Bill Snyder inherited the equivalent of a water pistol against the nuclear arsenals of the likes of Oklahoma and Nebraska in the Big 8 and was still able to single-handedly turn the Wildcats into a force in the new Big Twelve North. Dr. Tom was a better X's-and-O's coach but Snyder was a better program builder. What he did in Manhattan was, in reality, a miracle.

I might be a little prejudice, but what Snyder has done at Kansas State is the best coaching job, in the history of athletics, at any level. Maybe, what the coach did for the 1980 U.S. hockey team is commendable, but Snyder has done it over a long time.

@PVcat1 Not with a fan base as large as some of the other old Big 8 schools boasted, but yeah. The Buffs were more than coming into their own in the 80's, becoming a juggernaut towards the end of the century. This just meant yet another obstacle for the KSU transition from farce to force.

I have seen KSU beat by FORT HAYS!!!! they are not even division two. also if your refering to KSU being good how was that ass kicking put on by the huskers? Kansas is a basketball school because of the tradition of such. I would even go to say that KSU might even be a Basketball school given its recent success and its past success. anyone can say that since last time I checked we were only picked 5th in the north at the begginning of the season...we have the least talent in the big 12 besides baylor...bill snyder took what prince gave him which was almost nothing and made this team into something. As a KSU grad and fan, I'm glad to see Snyder back but I doubt we will ever get to the level that we were at in the late 90s. Also glad to see KU doing well because its makes for fun games and puts the state of Kansas on the map. So don't be hating one each other!
