  • @Ericruno

actually, the rear hatch is 39.5

  • @topgearfan1997 I think it was 46" from ground to top of handlebars but even after compressing the front end i dont think it will make that. it might, but thats a lot of pressure on the front end

  • im looking for a bike and im thinking of a crf230f and im 5'5 and im not sure if i can touch the ground. and i dont want a crf150f cause i dont want to grow out of it to soon tell me if i can fit on a crf230f thanks.

  • @WhiteRealoadz Have to go sit on it then i guess. But the 150 is not that much shorter so if you can go for the 230

  • I am thinkin about get this but i was wondering I am like 6'1 and I dont want to it if it is to small

  • @n00dles3264 my friend is 6'1 and looks cramped. he says he feels too big but its all preference and the bike can definately haul you no prob

  • @Ericruno alright thank you , I am going to go look at one soon and see how it is

  • should i get a cr125 or crf230f

  • @Redbullhondamx cr if you do more track. crf230 if your gonna do more trails

  • hey man i really couldnt thank you enough for this vid, i am a first time rider, never owned a bike in my life. but anyway this really cleared things up for me regarding how to treat your bike and what kind of bike this is cheers again

  • how much would a fairly new version of this bike be able to be sold for? i'm selling my truck for 3300, and this guy wants to give me 2000 cash and trade this bike for my truck... what do you think? i'd be selling the bike if i get it so i wanna know what my profit could be... his is a 2008 crf

  • @rollwithak They should give a blue book value for that but if your looking to get 3300 and hes gonna give you 2000 plus the bike i say your coming out on top as long as the bike is in great shape and doesnt need work. the bike is probably worth 1800 or more in my opinion

  • if your 5,5 and up a 125 is good

    any shorter this bikes fine

  • how tall you need to be hat you can ride this bike? i dont know the inch thingys im from fin:D but yea

  • @hondarider430 cheak out my vids of me and my mate on our 230s

  • @hondarider430 i had a crf100f and switched to this bike am 14 now im 164 cm tall and weigh 60kg great bike to switch to its heavy and lot bigger than the 100.

  • ok, so im 6feet and 230lbs would this bike be to small for me ,im looking at one now 05 crf 230 for bout $2k, and havnt looked at it in person yet but seen lot of pics and i dont want to wast time looking at it and stuff if im to tall fer it??

  • I'm thinking of buying this as my first bike. I wanna be extremely serious about riding and racing. You also mentioned this was a 'slow' bike. Slow as in top speed or acceleration?

  • im about 5"6 125 pounds, would it be a good starter bike for me?

  • @goofydragonify My opinion is it might be too big, but if your still growing then i would not waste money on a smaller bike

  • @goofydragonify its not to big i have a cr 125 and im 5'3 and the 125 is bigger then the 230

  • Hey, guys, I was wondering what you guys think about this. I wanna switch from my Crf100f to this bike or possibly a TTr230. I'm 13, around 110 pounds. Not sure how tall but I can sit on my Crf100f completely flat-footed. I don't want to sound cocky but I am responsible, I wouldn't do anything to endanger myself on a motorcycle. Please answer.

  • @hondarider430 The yamaha 230 and honda 230 are almost the same bike. It comes down to if you want a honda or yamaha. If will probably feel big compared to your crf100, but its probally the next step up in bikes. The honda crf150 you will outgrow pretty fast, but i would still check it out.

  • how much did you sall it for ? and was that a good price for you ?

  • @missy72711 sold it for $1300 which i was fine with because i blew out my front suspension before i sold it

  • Extremely good review! Very honest with everything that was said! 100% thumbs up

  • Good review!

  • @PKallDay41 yea Uh I have CRF 230 ! 09 u gotta be strong they r heavy as fuck sometimes! Lol

  • I have been riding for about 3 years now but i am not realy good i want a new bike and im looking at a crf 230 or 150 im 5'4 and 105 pounds

  • My KX125 will outrun this bike in a drag, this is FACT because I just drag raced my friend (who is lighter than me) earlier today and I pulled past him. This is a great bike though, super easy to ride, sit back and twist the throttle.

  • Nice video. Just wondering woild this bike be good for me? I am 5ft 7in and 120lbs and I am moving out of my ttr 125.

  • @awesomeguy1298 Its fine

  • @awesomeguy1298 I am a new rider and looking for my first bike i have rode a crf150f and thougth it wouldn't last me as long as a 230. i'm 5'7" 185lbs is this a good choice, I want a bike that I won't outgrow for about 4 yrs or so.

  • @rocknrolldude567 You wont outgrow it sizewise but down the road you may want a bit more power.

  • @Ericruno Yes, i under stand, i just want something to learn on untill i can get a bigger bike. thanks.

  • Thanks for an honest review

  • In my opinion I'd rather have a crf250r or 250x. Just my preference though, I like more power. Nice bike though

  • So some of yall know if the battery goes dead you can easily push start it. Just pull in the clutch in 1st or 2nd gear and start pushing it and let out on the clutch

  • do you still have this bike?

  • @Tool20001 sold it for my motorcycle...but i miss it ever once in a while

  • @ericruno hey nice bike n video, im 5'9 and 155 pounds i was thinking about gettin one of these bad boys what do you think. thanks

  • @Tool20001 should be just fine

  • im am 5,6 or 5,7 and i ride a honda 400 ex atv would this be a good bike for me?

  • @TheMx207rider it wont have the power your 400ex had, but it should be good...or get a 250x

  • hey they have a kit you can buy to put on a kick start if you ever need one.

they are a bitch to put on tho.

    but its worth it.

i have the 2007 crf 230 and ours look almost exactly the same

  • would someone that is 5"6 fit good on a crf230?

  • @MXRiderr3. You might be too short but i would still give it a shot. No point in wasting money in a smaller bike you will get bored on

  • XR350R all the way!!!

  • i got a 03 xr 50 to go 40mph lol on the street

  • My 250 sx would smoke all these bikes lol

  • It weighs 240 pounds? my 1975 kawasaki kM100 is 305 pounds... and its tiny!

  • Nice video! Happy riding! :)

  • good point about american selling their cars to get bikes :P I'm going to get this bike this week, it looks like a lot of fun, I have two questions: would you say it's ok for 2-3 feet jumps? and is it a 5 speed or 6 speed transmission?

    thanks

  • @halosavage If your not too heavy and the jumps have a soft landing then it should be fine. Its a six speed which is not to common in a trail bike like this

  • ok thanks, I'm very exited about getting this bike!

  • @halosavage i have this bike u can hit aany jump u wont pal if ur good wenough tho dnt try anything u cant do

  • 2 strokes SUCK!!!! Honda Every Day All Day

  • @RockinTrigger Honda makes 2 strokes.... ever hear of the CR series????

  • @stevensj13 ya i know that but at least they last longer than all the other 2 strokes

  • @RockinTrigger funny... my 1997 XR80 is nothing but problems.... my 1975 Kawasaki KM100 still hauls ass 34 years old and its 2 stroke

  • I love my 230 except the time the battery died a mile in the trails lol and I had to push it back

  • hi i have a drz 125 and want a bigger bike should i get this i ride tracks and triails im 105 ponds and 5"3 would u reccomend it to me ??? does it have a lot of power?/ thanks

  • @MegaDirtymax It is much more powerful than your 125. I think you are too short, but your the one riding it so you have to find out for yourself

  • im 14 and i dont know HOW THE FUCK THESE hoes be makin money to get this shit. im a beginner and i need a good bike for good jumps, and non motocross riding

  • love your video but a few things I own an 07 CRF250X and the 250's are much faster lot more power my uncle has a ttr230 and a ttr250 I do smoke both of his bikes and they both have 6 speeds and my X has 5. one other note about quads being easier the faster your ride the easier the bikes are to ride. My pops owns an 09 TRX420Rancher and I've taken it out after only riding my bike for months and tried to open it up and the dang thing nearly killed me. at 600 lbs when you jump it hang on.

  • is it a big diffrence with the 250

  • @PENtpbplaya12 In actual size they are pretty similar. In power the 250 will be noticable quicker but thats also because its a 5 speed rather than 6. If you ride trails then i really dont think it matter which of these two bikes

  • Im 5'7 14 years old and I am looking for my first bike... Do you think I would be ok to go with the crf230? Or just start with a 250r?

  • @Evan5445 250 is gonna have a bit more power...but seeing its your bike you will get used to whatever you ride

  • how old are you and how much do you weigh? ( kilograms )

  • hay i 6'0 would i be to big for this bike??? im looking at the new ones because this is going to be my first bike!!

  • @restlessrambo You may want a honda crf250...i think they are a little bigger

  • I am 5ft 8" would i be able to fit comfortable on this bike?

  • @jagmaster281 I personally dont think the difference between the two is that drastic

  • ill just make a kick start

  • I bought one identical last year for $400 but not as mint as yours. It's missing plastic bolt and filthy lol

  • I bought an identical bike last year from my brother for $400. Great bike but like you said, it's a great trail bike.

Yours is just pristine compared to mine though, mines filthy and missing bolts and I just got it running today by cleaning the carb 3 times lol.

If you need a site for maintenence and what-not this is the place:

  • And boy do i hate i guess you could call it "automatic" atvs. all it is is a belt and two pulleys. Its called CVT trans, and i hate it. if the belt wears down you have to buy a new one all the time. It slipps trying to go up hills its just terrible. i hope dirtbikes don't go CVT.

  • "you are a jackass" that made my day.

  • Very nice video!!!! I'll defiantly be checking out your others. I race 250F's and I want a good, reliable, cheap bike to ride around my trails. I'm tired of not being able to idle because my 250 will overheat, and having to ride the clutch the whole time. How much is an older 230 in good condition worth? And also, how much stock torque do they have? On my older trails bikes I would bog out going up hills and thats a huge deal-breaker. Any help is much appreciated!

  • @ProjectEvilNoob First off thank you. the 230 first came out in 2003 so you can most likely find a 2003 or 2004 for under $1500. Its got a 6 speed tranny so first gear is very low. People call it the stump puller gear because its got so much low end power. I climbed really steep hills in first and never bog. It will bog in second gear though if it is a big hill. Let me know if you have any other worries

  • Guys im 5'9 150 pounds and i ride trail like down at my farm and stuff like climbing hills but i do hit some jumps and go to the sand dunes so would this bike be good for me?

  • im about 5'6-5'7 and about 130-140lbs. would this be a good bike for me i am currently riding a yamaha 125 and its great but im wanting a bike of my own. also i use a mini van to.

  • @scoutdadog1 should be fine

  • 65mph? or kmh

  • @pimpinpenz 65 mph on flat ground

  • @pimpinpenz nice ive been riding 2 strokes and im getting sick of rebuilding and i wanna get a trail bike now since i dont find my self at the tracks too much any more so would this be a good bike for me? im 5 foot 10 235lbs

  • @pimpinpenz I think you would be better off with a 250 or 450cc 4 stroke. I have a friend whose 6 foot 4 and 240 pounds and i could tell the bike was getting a workout when he rode it

  • @Ericruno yeah i think i might look around for an old 1988 xl350r

  • im not planning on taking it off any huge jumps but what about just smaller jumps? will the suspension get damaged in any way?.... and is this bike better then a TTR 230?

  • @popopop824 Suspension is soft but it will handle some jumps and abuse. I did however blow out my front end from some rough riding but no big deal. Very similar to the TTR but i prefer honda anyway. My friend has a TTR and says my bike felt like it could take more of a beating

  • cool

  • theres a 230r right and is the 230r made for motorcross

  • Just a quick comment. You say early on that it's not a jumping bike; well i am on a low budget so a bought one of these instead of an MX bike but i've used it as such. I've done some pretty decent jumps on it and my friend who owned it before me absolutely thrashed it, still going strong. These bikes are totally indestructible :D, also a kick start is a nice feature but not essential cause even if u flatten the battery you can always jump start it

  • sweet

  • im thinkin of gettin this kinda bike. but jw if the electric start dies can you still catch it in gear if you have the key in it?

  • nice vid. i did the power up kit on it. it is a lot faster and a lot more power

  • did they ever make a crf230f with a kick start?

  • @Dirtbikes52 Dont believe so...they made a 250cc bike with a kick though

  • Nice video dude! Do you know how much Km/L does it make average?

  • @euheide I think its about 240 km on one tank

  • @Ericruno Thanks very much! :) That's a good fuel economy! Cheers!

  • Haha what if Ur on a hill and Ur batt dies what u ganna do then? Hahah

  • @efedude77 bump start it

  • @efedude77 Why would you be on a hill with the bike off? Worst scenario is you go down the hill to pop start it

  • hey im 14 and 5'10" and i was wondering if this bike would be good for me i have had a bike before but it was a 150 Japanese brand.

  • @thjp1217 Yes. Or try the newer 250x.

  • Nice bike man. those are reliable as hell.im 14 and i recently sold my 230 and got a 250x they have unbeilavably more power than the 230 but i have been riden for 10 years.

  • Nice bike man. those are reliable as hell.im 14 and i just sold my 230 and got a 250x they have unbeilavably more power than the 230 but i have been riden for 10 years.

  • how tall are you?

  • @acemontages Im 5'10

  • @Ericruno Isn't true that this bike has very little play in the shocks?

  • @CEOTerminator They are soft as hell. But if you were to put some better springs in the front they would be good for any riding style

  • dude this bike was soo good to u! anyways, i wanted to mention ur in your xavier clothes. hahaha u took this vid after scho0ol??

  • @JPO1292 Ya. Some kid told me i wear gay shirts lol. I deleted his comment though

  • @Ericruno yea screw that fag. he prob doesnt own a shirt.

  • Electric start only?

    that's gay.

what if the battery decides to die out while your 20 miles deep in the woods?

  • @pspfanboy100 You rub your feel together to create a static spark to jump start the battery......but in reality you would be in deep crap

  • @Ericruno lmao

  • this bike can hit jumps. ive seen videos of pro mx racers jumping motocross jumps on a kawasaki 140.

  • im 13 and i have a crf 100... ive messed around with the idle speed and havent messed it up yet... soo just go for it if you need to

  • What would happen if I were to jump it

  • @fishinking100 Then you would be in the air. But if you mean about the suspension it would be weird because its so soft. People do it though no problem. I would suggest having a pitched landing rather than a flat landing.

  • im 13 but im not a beginner, and my dad was thinking about getting one of these so me and him could ride enduros. It looks like a cool bike, im looking forward to riding it :)

  • Hey dude, I started riding when I was 6, by 14 years I was on a KDX200 2-Smoker... Switched to road bikes, YZF-R6.. sold that.. now my wife wants to get into motorcycling. This has got to be the best bike for both her and I :) I want it for trail riding, she wants it for learning. So it should be mint, a but gutless for what I am used to but I am confident its acually the best trail bike money can by these days. The electric start is a bonus I reckon :) Roll start for backup :)

  • @AgentMi6 Its definately gutless for speed, but it has decent low end torque. First gear is almost too short. Im riding street now anyway (Suzuki sv650) but i sure had a great time on this bike. You may want to look into the honda 250x for a little more power

  • @Ericruno Hey thanks for your reply :)

The sv650 is a good bike also :). I will get a 250x a little later once the Mrs is hooked or will upgrade, But its her start into motorcyling. I would rather her learn on the dirt before going nuts on the road, it gave me the biggest headstart in road riding.

  • nice looks like you never ride it. looks relly clean

  • Great vid more people need to take care of there bikes. I take great care of mine and never had any problems. & by they way if you know what your doing with a 2-stroke there not that much trouble. I have a 1988 CR125R looks brand new and has only had one engine rebuild and that was by choice.

  • BTW the 230 has a monoshock so you can adjust the suspension to make it softer or firmer i stand 6' 2" 200 pounds and i got no problem

  • very clean mate,

    hows your riding going,

    she still going strong ??

  • @TheVanillaface19 Well i ended up selling it for a motorcycle. I miss my crf, but all the places here are illegal to ride at, so im happy with my choice to buy a motorcycle

  • @Ericruno yeah here a good bike

  • i want this bike so badly but the electric starter kinda takes the fun out of it for me like i love to kick start it! but thats just me and thanks for the Review i appreciate it :)

  • Well i'm not laughing at the electric start but the advantage to a kickstart is if your in the middle of the desert and your battery dies your screwed but eletric starts are cool too.

  • @MrTwostrokenut I agree. I loved the e-start but im not a fan of pop starting if the battery dies

  • Its a HONDA its gonna last....i have a 02 xr100r that has been TOTALED 3 times and still runs(and saying totaled would be and under statement)

  • thats a sweet bike a 230's probably gonna be my next bike how long have u been riding? i just got back into it and yeah its a crapload of fun, but im 6 foot, would this be a good next bike for me? ive only been riding for about a year soo im not super experienced

  • @2ndpadrummer at 6 foot you will be a bit big for it, but that means you can whip it around like a pro. Its got the power of a tank (not a rocket, but goes anywhere). This was my first bike. I had only ridden 2 times before i got this. The VERY FIRST time i rode this bike was on a technical trail so i learned very quick what and what not to do.

  • @Ericruno yeaa ive heard its gotten good reviews for being a powerful bike i currently have an 03 xr 100 that i definatly need to trade in soon, but thanks for your advice!

  • I'm just getting off 2 strokes and starting to trail ride instead of race. I had a cr250 before would a 230 be a good trail bike for me? I'm 5'8.

  • @brtnub12 its a perfect size for you but it wont be as fast as a CR. If you want more power Id look at a honda 250x if you have the money.

  • How much did you get it for?

  • @cometpowell paid 1800 bucks in february 2009

  • @Ericruno well thats a great deal. youre are lucky!

  • im gonna lay this out

#1 quads are easier to ride (i own several quads and dirt bikes)

#2 bikes are easier for trails

    #3 i wish the 230 had a kick start =(

  • 70 or 80 miles in a couple of months? i do that in a day

  • @urbanboardsboi i bought i in frickin february. I live in connecticut. Kinda hard to ride in snow on rough powerlines.

  • ive been ridin for about 13 years this is the best one ive bught this is alot more fun then atvs and all

    where u from ericruno

  • @MrSpeedyrc From CT......and yes, bikes are way more fun that atvs

  • @Ericruno I wouldn't say that, but i love em both

  • hey is just got a new 2009 crf 230f and it is my first dirtbike and i noticed the tube tht is connected to the carburater and its not connected to anything else, i was worried about tht bcuz i thought i might have broke it while falling; is tht normal post back plzz

  • @shavlan havent had my bike since february but i think what ur talking about is normal. Its either a venting tube or overflow tube

  • Comment removed

  • damn i wish it came with a kick start!!!!

  • hey man i have a 1979 suzuki 2 stroke ts 250 er endero and it still runs great i have not had to rebuild it once

  • i got that bike 2009 i love it :)

  • no backup kickstart, well im definately not getting this

  • 3 of my friends have a 230 and i do as well 2 of my friends have a ttr 230 one of my friends just bought a ttr 230 for 600 dollars nothing wrong with it but the crf 230 is faster and i think better built thats my opinion //////////and noo the new 230 do not have kick start i just bought a brand new 2009 crf230 they have the same motors just different graghics/////////////and to every one reading this comment a crf230 is a perfect thing to get there easy to work on on maintain

  • Sucks that you gotta keep correcting yourself so people don't bi+ch and moan. This is a really dumb question, but I think that and the CRF230L both have the same engine, but the 230L can top out around 85 with most people. It has dirt tires and all to....Is that a 6 speed?

  • @geedunk13 this bike is actually a six speed. Sometimes street legal bikes are geared more for top speed rather than bottom end power.

  • theres only a few very very very small differences in the new and old bikes. Usually its just small cometic differences such as the hand gaurds. If you looking to buy one all you have to look for is the shape its in. all years are pretty much the same with this bike.

  • ive got a 2007 and your right they still dont have a kickstart, ive owned a 2008 TRX 400ex sport quad, and a 2007 RM-Z 450 dirtbikeas well as a YZ 250,the quads are just to rough and big,the 450 and 250 are great and i loved the power BUT... to just go out and have fun NOTHING comes even close to this thing,it has plenty of power to pull me up anything(im 6'2 190lbs) GREAT bike!!! my fav out of nething ive owned, and maitnance is EASY!

  • what is the fuel capacity?

  • @babcimax bout 2 gallons with a half gallon reserve

  • This is the main thing you need to know about it.

It is a nice, light, peppy trail bike. It handles well and has decent speed. One problem is that there is no kick start. Another problem is the front forks are too light. This is not only a problem for jumps, but when you are going up a rocky hill on a trail or something, the front end gets tossed around and it is hard to control it. The CRF230 is good for begginers or light trail riding.

  • could I do small jumps on this if I made a landing, also could I get upggraded suspension

  • Nice video, nice bike. Haha at the "you are a jackass". The 230 has plenty, plenty of potential. I have been racing motocross on my 230 in open class and it is a blast, especially when passing guys on 450s :D.

  • dude you can take big jumps and ride motorcross with this bike but its just as good than the racer modells

  • How much did you get it for?

  • @Jessist19 bought it for 1800 bucks over a year ago. You can get one for 1300 or less now
