  • lovely and calming after a stressful day ^^

  • opinion.

  • Ahhh, Edie Sedgwick, this song is yours.

  • Nico is my lover and my friend.

  • class

  • Masterpiece, that was a real woman singing that.

  • brings me to tears

  • "you're number thirty seven, have a look" O_O

  • I'm scared of clons D:

  • What a clon!

  • this song is good to shower to

  • Velvet Underground helped invent hipsters. THANKS A LOT.

  • seriously fucking awesome, never get tired of it

  • Who would have thought that after this record Nico would produce her own records that were way more experimental and dare I say better (?) than the Velvet's?

  • about edie sedgwick

  • Now, all I need is an instrumental version. Or a bunch of musicians... whatever.

  • katerinahra why this song is your favourite;;;;

  • FUCK BRITNEY SPEARS!

  • @monsterwladi britney spears sucks black dick everyday

  • nico... was a bastard,...andy was a bastard,,,,,,,,,,they all were bastards.....feeding on the week and riping their souls out..........they were the kind of people that if they were politicians. they would start a war for fun...........but then again i do like the music

  • @younoitbeforeitsdone I whole heartedly agree with the last bit but where did the first outburst come from? I had heard Warhol was living by injecting himself with essence of his own ego for years and that was why he was so skinny, he was exsisting off his own self worth (which had for him in the end... lesson there?) :O)

Lots of people took took from Cale by laughing at his hairstyle so maybe it was 'eye for an eye' for him! (was that funny?-I'll get my coat)

  • 30 cons grrrr

  • @joaopmpgnr I totally agree with you! People should make their own opinion about music. That´s what I did

  • omg what a voice

  • the best voice of all time...!!!

    :D

  • YOU GUYS ARE MISUNDERSTOOD. The era of Velvet Underground had much better music, but we still have great bands like

Tool, Avenged Sevenfold, Muse, Porcupine Tree, Radiohead, Vampire Weekend, Weezer, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage against the Machine, Arcade Fire, Arctic Monkeys, Of Montreal, White Stripes, Raconteurs, Dead Weather, Greenhornes, The Kills, and more

This era of music is shit, but you just gotta trawl through all the shit to get to the gold, and the gold is always worth it :)

  • @tatertots725 but though there was a lot of good music during that time period, people mostly only pay attention to the good music. there was still a lot of bad music, the good music was just, like, really good. i agree with your last point, though, completely.

  • @issayyousay thanks man I agree with you. BTW what present day bands do you like?

  • Comment removed

  • @tatertots725 some crash kings, portugal the man. but dont listen to me listen to the velvet underground.

  • lol coldplay, muse and maybe the artic monkeys

  • Comment removed

  • This is awful. Duran Duran's was beyond better. Fucking hipsters

  • @MorganaTransatlantic This is the original. Why call us "hipsters" just because we like the real thing? Everybody likes different kinds of music, and you just need to chill the heck out, friend.

  • @MorganaTransatlantic wtf are you? some judgemental fuck trolling VU vids? VU and fans of VU fucking hated hipsters, stupid flower power cunts.

  • The Velvet Underground kicks Asss, Lou Reed is a coooooool Mother***** : D

  • You are all absolute noobs at music.

  • kings of leon are amazing.

  • anyone who says "I have good taste in music" usually has bad taste in music and is a dickhead

  • @21YEAH21 I have good taste in music, that's why I'm here :)

  • @gmancrap did you seriously just say led zeppelin sucks? hahahah anything you say from this point on in your life is irrelevant.

  • @rollrollergirl youtube.com/watch?v=Hrp2N_i7Axk

  • @fedthebest1 the arctic monkeys are actually pretty good, man. You should have a listen of their latest record, i think you'd be surprised.

  • This music is the only thing that keeps me going, if it wasn't for The Velvet Underground, David Bowie, The Smiths and The Beatles I would be dead.

Zarija Clabatti

  • Yeah i heard there song , im not suure guys!!!........

  • Nico's voice is so unique, beautiful and euphoric. I can't imagine any one else matching or surpassing the song's quality

  • C'est beau !

  • Makes Beyonce's tits and ass shaking effort seem a bit lame.

  • The backing vocals make this track.

  • The music reminds me of Charlie Brown.. poor Chuck never did ask out the cute red haired girl..

  • RIP EDIE

  • Nico is beautiful

  • what a perfect album !!!!!!!!

  • long live the mother fuckin velvets! they ran on pure emotion, not money and radio play

  • @smokencoke1 Don't forget the amphetamines. I'm pretty sure they ran on those too.

  • I found this through MGMT, I feel old now, not in a bad way, but timeless. This is great, I feel like crying for never discovering this sooner in my 21 years of life!

  • kids my age dont appriciate artists such as velvet underground, led zepplin, the doors, nirvana, david bowie, pink floyd and other great artists and what they have done to make music what it is today..but shit...im sure kurt cobain, jim morrison and other artists long gone would be very dissapointed to the crap people play out on the radios.such a shame.im 15 and i am one of the lucky ones to discover and enjoy this song.so beautiful.this will never get old...total dissapointment 4 justin beiber fans!

  • @musiclovejoy123 please people could you be a little original and not write about that kid in every music video comments?

  • Check out the Aloe Blacc Version. Music lives through the hearts and souls of those willing to listen. Spread it. embed it. no one's right. no one's wrong. it's all your song. your song

  • i love this song,and adore edie.

  • it sounds longer than it actually is, i like it

  • one of my favorites from this album and there she goes :)

  • comments on youtube are completely useless, accept if you want war. thumbs up if you agree, copypaste this to another youtube film to make this end.

    peace on youtube!

  • Modest Mouse are a good modern band, we can all agree on that right?

  • the velvet underground is one of the greatest bands of all time but there is still cool stuff being made today... dont' hate

  • fuck people who say they were born in the wrong era. and yeah i was born in 90. i love everythin musical produced from the 20's till just fucking this morning. If you don't like one particular band/artist or single piece of music, that's your own problem. If you live in today's world, and you can't appreciate something that was recorded over 50 years ago on a whim or something digitally produced today, you are an idiot. music is music and it evolves and changes, just like everything else. fuckme

  • i like aloe blaccs version, but this ones great too

  • I agree. There is still a LOT of good music out there. It's just not mainstream now.

  • i'm in love with this one, her rythm, the whole meaning:)

  • end it with the boring argument about 'we're living in a bad era' i mean every single damn video has 'bieber's shit' on the comments or 'how come there was this music back then and now lady gaga's in the charts'- its getting a BIT boring :P

  • Tracy Thorn sings this on a solo album and keeps it true to the original - brilliant song

  • and why this fantastic song is so short :( ....i could listen this song for 6,7,..... minutes !

  • Comment removed

  • wow, just starting listening to the velvet underground this afternoon and they're lovely :)

  • what a clun?

  • @lifer7429 Actually, it's pronounced CLON.

  • people who don't punch their ponies make me sick.

  • Wish I was born early forties. I could of lived through rock, hard rock, metal, alternative and grunge ect. I think God is playing tricks with me :(

  • @MatthewAlfrey All you get from that is old age and the been there done that attiude. Enjoy what's been left before you and take it to the next level... And... Don't forget to brush and floss.

  • Isn't it a little pathetic that on so many videos have little pissing contests all over them in the comments? Is that really how you spend all your time? There's the stupid ones who just think it's fun to comment, and there are the just as stupid but trying to seem extremely intelligent by having terrible grammar and writing ability. The first group is more innocent, just plain dumb, The latter however, well they kind of just act like little shits and piss every one off. So chill, thanks.

  • So good, this song never gets old.

  • This song...makes me want to eat a bullet </3

  • @looolz26 eat one then

  • I love her accent. Even though she says 'clown' it sounds like 'Clon' haha. I love it :)

  • hahahahaha i love this song

  • I split upt with a great girl who then decided to copulate with my flatmates. This song saved my life.

  • great songs. alternative beginning.

    virgin suicides movie.

  • this is one of VU's BEST SONGS!!!

    =)

  • it seems like John Lennon's "Imagine"...

  • Fucking amazing. Such a soothing voice. That voice just filled with emotion and experiences that most of us will only dream about in our lifetime. Anyone who doesn't like Nico, Lou, or The VU, doesn't have a soul.

  • Wow! Does this bring back memories!! Go Nico!! Yay, Velvet Underground! Wow! so back in the day!

  • Thumbs up for all the young kids who said fuck you to our shit era of music!

  • @PHILIBOYLONDON its good to be remembered

  • @PHILIBOYLONDON We're not living in a shitty era guy. Of course, Bieber's pissing us off, but we do not have to forget bands like Coldplay, Arctic Monkeys, Muse, Linkin Park, Kings Of Leon, Arcade Fire, Interpol, etc. Moreover, our era is fantastic cos we are able to witness the brilliance of bands/artists of each and every generation. If I was born in 1920, I would definitely not have been able to enjoy Led Zeppelin, Clash, Simon & Garfunkel, Springsteen, Oasis or Nirvana as a teenager! ;-)

  • @fedthebest1 no friend, you could....now you have favourite singers and bands ... and you would have your favourites too if you born in 1920....and you know now that singers and bands that enumerate are only small lights in the widespread dark ....and that's why i agree with @PHILIBOYLONDON :)

  • @fedthebest1 If you were born in the 1920's you'd have been a teenager by the end of the thirties... Besides, I can't name even ONE band of the ones you listed that worths more than ANY 1960's band, they might be good but any even underrated sixties band like The Action, The Creation, The Spencer Davis Group, Graham Bond Organisation, 13th Floor Elevators, The Seeds, etc etc kick their 21st century asses in two blinks of an eye!

  • @fedthebest1 Yes there are good bands now, but the constant flow of briliiant bands through the 60s and 70s has slowly dried out. If there are good bands now then they're in the minority. Popular music now is generally horseshit and you know it. Apart from the Artic monkeys every band you mentioned has either sold out or arent really that popular, cant remember the last time I heard Arcade fire on the radio. Dont even get me started on KOLs 4th and 5th albums! The industry ruins bands like them.

  • @fedthebest1 thank you, i've been defending this era's alt and some pop music. THANKS!!!!!!!

  • @fedthebest1 Arctic monkeys album: Suck it and see was awful, and that's coming from an arctic monkeys fan otherwise they're amazing. Muse only has one good song. Linkin park is kind of pathetic. kings of leon is like linkin park. Arcade fire is amazing. You're missing the strokes, the dead weather, the kills and the white stripes(I know they broke up but they count!) and the bottom row is all amazing (simon & garfunkel is okay)

  • @Defusify we have the same taste in music you a good point there the strokes, the kills, the white stripes have brought music thats not shitty but blissful

  • @fedthebest1 Literally every modern band you listed is fucking terrible.

  • @DanteShithead hahahhah SO TRUE

  • @fedthebest1 coldplay? kings of leon? arctic monkeys?SRSLY? this idiots R one of the reason why we DO live in a shitty era

  • @fedthebest1 too bad all the bands you said from coldplay to interpol are shitty too (save for arcade fire)

  • @AlecKronicle Well, my comment is rather successful, and if you think that the bands I mentioned are that bad, there must be sthg wrong... Why do you say Coldplay, LP, Interpol and the other bands are bad?!

  • @AlecKronicle Moreover, in today's music, you just can't expect great bands to be as fantastic as The Rolling Stones, Led Zep, The Beatles, Pink Floyd or The Beacn Boys... I really think that's impossible. So, Coldplay, Linkin Park and all the rest do deserve some respect.

  • @fedthebest1 Not even, man. Artists of today who "deserve some respect" are people like Thom York, Trent Reznor, Thomas Giles, Maynard Keenan, Elliott Smith (RIP), Ben Folds, Tom Waits, etc. Muse is also phenomenal but I honestly would dip into Deathcore before commending Coldplay or Linkin Park and give due credit to like Whitechapel or All Shall Perish. Linkin Park should have thrown the towel in years ago. At this point they're beating the hell out of a dead Sarah Jessica Parker.

  • @ruinwonder Why do you say only those artists deserve respect just because those are the ones you like and you find good? I like a lot of them too, but I disagree that those are the only ones who deserve respect. You are saying coldplay didn't go through all the hard work and passion for their music as the ones you mention did? They did, ~you~ just don't like their sound as much. Which doesn't mean they deserve less respect. Neither does it mean other bands today deserve less.

  • @13Bee1 Are you honestly saying the people I mentioned haven't gone through the hard work and desperate, passionate feeling behind their music? Dude, Smith is DEAD. And all of his music was painfully beautiful. I don't like Coldplay's sound and Linkin Park is just rehashed bullshit. Everything the do sounds the same. They're the next Metallica... Only less talented.

  • @ruinwonder I said I disagree those are the only ones that deserve respect, not that they didn't. Of course they do, I even said I like a lot of them, BUT your logic is that the bands you don't like or that you believe are shit don't deserve respect, which is completely silly. Just because you don't like their sound, doesn't make their hard work and passion for their music any less respectable. I don't like Linkin Park at all, I agree with you, but it doesn't mean they're not musicians.

  • @ruinwonder speaking of metallica. lou reed is teaming up with them to do some songs i heard

  • @ruinwonder

tbh bro, you're talking to another generation commenting on a Velvet Underground video.

i loved BtBaM during A Silent Circus.

i love Tool and APC as well

i used to go to Whitechapel and ASP shows back in 05' when they were starting out, so i know what you're saying.

    but.

    this is The Velvet Underground.

    you're talking modern music to a 60's audience =/

  • Comment removed

  • @fedthebest1 Blah, how can you listen to all that crap!

  • @fedthebest1 almost all the bands you mentioned suck.

  • @fedthebest1 Most of those new abnds you mentioned are jsut as bad as Bieber.

  • @br0nc096 Very much agreed on that, my friend. Some good modern bands are Radiohead, The Black Keys, The White Stripes, and the Walkmen.

  • @MEYERS3000 You have much better taste.

  • @fedthebest1

    You forgot Gorillaz ^^

  • @JumpinDemon Yeah! They are fantastic too ;-) Feel Good Inc :D

  • @fedthebest1 I fully agree with your point. Been a teen when Led Zep started publishing records I naturally prefer the music of this time. I know there are excellent bands and musicians all the time and forutunatelly I am still able to appreciate some of them. I tend to dislike the most current musical taste of today but, well, world is big and there's always a place for everybody. Enjoy your present. I hope that you can be glad of your past and that futur will be bright for you.

  • @nadamasencore Thx for your point too ;) Besides, my comment's so successful!

  • @fedthebest1 Please... almost all bands you have mentioned are shit compared to this. And we're not able to witness every generation's music because of simple reason - we're not going to live forever and it is very probable that after our deaths people will invent some great music too. So my point is... that I disagree with almost everything you wrote :}

  • @dambi91 it's a strange mix, yes, but you can't deny that artists like arcade fire and radiohead are still making quality music

  • @000DarkNite000 Yeah you're right I can't deny. However you also can't deny that quality music today is total underground. There will always be great music but nowadays I feel isn't as great time for music as 70's. It seems for me that industry has been stupified by big music groups and of course internet has made good music available for everyone so it's not profitable to make quality records anymore. That's why it is important for us fans to buy records of great modern artists.

  • @000DarkNite000 sorry about chaos in my reply. I rushed it and English isn't my native lang

  • @fedthebest1 I wouldn't put Linkin Park in the same category as Arctic Monkey, Arcade Fire, and Interpol.

  • Comment removed

  • @fedthebest1 Apart from the Arcade Fire, they are all bands I would not save.

  • @fedthebest1 All those bands except Muse and maybe Coldplay are absolutely awful. Artic Monkey I don't know enough of but the rest Linkin Park? Kings of Leon? Are you kidding me? Bubblegum poprock radio bands whose only puprose is to make cheesy top 10 hits.

  • @420Guitar420 Arcade Fire is really really good!

  • @420Guitar420

coldplay are'nt that good maybe 3 good songs rest sound like crap or the same as others.

Muse White Stripes they make real music!

  • @420Guitar420 I appreciate the sentiment, but how can you possibly say that the Arcade Fire is absolutely awful? If you realised how intricate their lyrics and instrumentation are I'm sure you'd change your mind.

  • @420Guitar420 loool

  • @fedthebest1 Wow, you referred all the rock mainstream shait of this era, only forgot Portishead and Avenged and I would vomit.

There are good bands this era, but they are mostly unknown and nothing compared to Velvet or whatever. Like The Racounters. But this is a shitty era no matter what, because all we see is young lust virgins becoming famous due to "friends in the biz" or marketing schemes.

  • @joaopmpgnr We live in probably the most exciting time for music thanks to the internet. One only has to do a little homework to discover an infinite amount of good music at their fingertips. Radio stations have always played to the lowest common denominator. If you truely love music, no matter the genre it's out there waiting.

    You just haven't bothered.

  • @osing4me Yes, people need to research for themselves and not "eat" everything that plays on the radio or MTV.

    There are great bands nowadays.

  • @fedthebest1 LINKIN PARK WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU

  • @TheBlomberFactory Lol c'mon bro. Everyone liked them at one point in time

  • @TheBlomberFactory Nthg... matter of taste.

  • @fedthebest1 not that i want to be the one to tell you this but music DOES have a theory that makes it good. There is such thing as bad taste and it comes from not knowing about music. I wouldn't call Linkin Park a good band but I mean who doesn't have their guilty pleasure bands i know i do haha

  • @TheBlomberFactory yeah, I like to think he was trolling with that one cos it was insightful otherwise.

  • @TheBlomberFactory Keep quiet! ;) You can replace this band by Kasabian or Radiohead if you want...

  • @fedthebest1 E gads... well ok radiohead has a couple good albums but thom york is so boring and so uninteresting to listen to to me.. oh well hes loaded from it

  • @fedthebest1 I mean you got a point man at least we were not born in the 1920!

  • @fedthebest1 duuuude how can you put Kasabian and Linking Park on the same level as the band which did as much, maybe more, for the modern alternative scene as the Pixies or Nirvana? I mean they have some tunes but it's all quite derivative.

  • @fedthebest1 Linkin park lol gtfo!

  • You are so ignorant. Open your eyes. Springsteen and Led Zeppelin suck by the way. I would hate to be grown on that crap.

  • @Gmancrap

    whoa whoa.

    Zeppelin? crap? no.

this song is amazing and i don't agree with any of the others here citing Coldplay or Kings of Leon as great bands.

but Led Zeppelin is not crap, not in any way.

    you must be trolling.

  • I'm sorry you are still stuck in the delusional belief that everyone must like the same bands as you do.

  • @Gmancrap

    haha,

    nice trolling Gman

    but try another vid.

  • Not trolling and thanks for the offer. However, I'll do what I want. Thanks for the offer.

  • @Gmancrap Led Zeppelin is one of my favorite bands of all time, if not THE favorite. You seriously must be trolling right now.

  • Led Zeppelin sucks. Sorry to inform you.

  • @Gmancrap No it doesn't. JUST THAT IT'S FUCKING MAINSTREAM DOESN'T MEAN IT'S BAD! I like indie music, and some main stream music too. It's all the same shit man, good music is good music, and that's that. End of story. I like modest mouse, velvet underground, and pavement, but then I also like led zeppelin, pink floyd, Doors, radiohead, and yes, even coldplay(early albums before they went mainstream mostly). Some of the hipsters in these vids are so closed minded sometimes.

  • @Gmancrap Led Zeppelin does not fucking suck...what the hell is wrong with you

  • Nothing, I just have a good taste in music unlike you.

  • @Gmancrap Thats the Way, Battle of Evermore, Tangerine, When the Levee Breaks, Stairway to fucking Heaven...all those are amazing artistic musical creations made by Led Zeppelin. I love both Zep and the VU equally theyre both awesome, but saying Zeppelin is bad taste of music is totally uncalled for man.

  • @Gmancrap ...In your opinion.

  • Yes.

  • @Gmancrap Zeppelin are gods

  • It don't even acknowledge Dead Heads. Conversation over.

    Next.

  • @Gmancrap Dude it's just an opinion. I'm not trying to upset anyone

  • @fedthebest1 Coldplay, Arctic Monkeys, Muse, Linkin Park, Kings of Leon, Arcade Fire and Interpol all fucking suck though so your point is kind of lost

  • @amutinyinheaven You must pretty much despise modern rock...those bands range quite a bit in style.

  • @amutinyinheaven New Arctic Monkeys (produced by Josh Homme) are pretty good. I never used to like them either, but they sound much heavier and darker now.

  • @amutinyinheaven

    hmm.

Interpol was great there for awhile... Antics was a great album was it not?

any album after that i'm on board with your rebuddle.
