  • Ps you didnt know what varnish is? just google it.Now days the villian wouldnt have a east European accent but maybe an islamic one. A villian one day might be your ally the next!

  • back in school we had alphabet plays and I was picked to do the villain in the panama hat.It was cool to dress up and terrorise the kiddies up the front. The kids who did the letter S practiced with a snake but on the night one of them bought a six foot python and it not only horrified the kids up the front but also the teacher who let out a big scream. The snake was cool. Ah memories of school

  • The Villian has the tiniest feet!

  • Outstanding Post !!! I haven't seen this one in 30+ yrs !! The villain sounds like Lord Humongous in The Road Warrior to me.. LOL "just walk away, just walk away..."

  • And the cop/security guard sounds like Dudley Do-Right.

And at 0:26...what is up with the Villain's pants? :X

  • @leper73 I never found out what is varnish?

  • @lion371 Just saw this, sorry for the delay! Varnish is a clear covering you paint on, say, a wooden floor to protect it from the elements and bring out the shine. Violins use varnish (sounds like a Sesame Street sketch, lol!). A couple of other examples you may have heard of: Shellac and Polyurethane.

  • AHAHAHAHAHAHA! I cant stop watching this XD Brings back memories :)

  • Those poor violets... They won't survive long in the varnish and vinegar!!

  • XD I remember this! I am the villian in the panama hat! mwa ha ha ha ha!

  • Ah, this takes me back. Thanks for posting it, TinyDancer500!

  • my god, somebody stop him!

  • @JPSK

"...Oh no, you don't, villain! You're under arrest!" always liked that part.

  • I AM THE VILLAIN IN THE PANAMA HAT.

You know what V is also for?

    V is for Vendetta. :3

  • alot like monty pithon

  • The villan sound a lot like legendary actor Sidney Greenstreet.

  • I'm sure he was the influence for the Villan.

  • A great voice impression of the legendary actor.

  • @frankd1965 he was meant osound like Sidney Greenstreet.

  • @67nairb he sure sounded like the legendary screen actor. I watch The Maltese Falcon. He was great as Casper Guzman.

  • @frankd1965 My mother has the MALTESE FALCON on dvd.

  • @67nairb Right on. "Beware of the Fat Man"

  • V is for vigilante for super heroes like batman & superman for dc & Iron man & captain america for marvel that's what this short cartoon reminded me of

  • Oh no you don't villian. You're under arrest.

  • I got a panama hat recently and stumbled across this video when looking for info. What a great little cartoon! I love the voices and the music!

"I am the villain in the panama hat". I love it!

  • The villan sound just like Sidney Greenstreet.

  • It's funny how many of the most memorable classic "letter" cartoons on Sesame Street involved the letter "V".

  • Did Sesame Street do a "brought to you by the letters P & U? That would be funny!

  • I cant believe I forgot about this! It was one of my absolute favorites! No one could really explain what a 'vat' was, or show me an example of one. Frustrating! Also, this has re-animated my desire to get a panama hat. Anybody from Ecuador wanna send me one? They are made in Ecuador, not Panama!

  • Spooky Dragnet-like music accompanies this clip containing a clever assortment of 'v'-words. All in all, a very vivid, vocal, and valid memory!

  • I love how this is one of the top Google responses for panama hat, ha ha.

  • You just know I had to test this out and you're right! :-) Number four on the Google list of refs to panama hat is this Sesame Street cartoon, that's hilarious.

  • Wow, good times :) I remember this video :)

  • yeah man great times on old school SS you will never see things like this today on that show much. Only once in a blue moon.

  • How did the detective get in the guy's coat?

  • He has his ways ;)

  • the panama hat cost is arounded $50.00 just can find it in panama city.

  • my uncle got one that cost around $180

  • Why didn't the villan have mouth or nose? He may have killed the violets too.

  • whats the price of the panama hat

  • you can get one for 20 or 30 USD

  • Is that Brian Meehl playing the Villian in the Panama Hat?

  • A personal favorite of mine..

  • vinegar? and varnish? a recipe for disaster!

  • This skit was the first time I ever heard the word "varnish".

  • Really? Me, too! LOL Ah, the things we learn from old-school Sesame Street.

  • Sounds good to me! :)

  • rock on! This was good times :)

  • OMG I love this hahahahaha :D

  • Can anyone remember a quite scary sesame street clip with a cat or something?

  • Interesting Syndey Greenstreetesque villain. >:-)

  • my friend has the voice for doing that villain, the way he articulates...

  • This was one of my favorites. I loved the wordplay and the sound of the verses!
