Felicidades Tony...un buen programa, con buena fotografía y buen corazón para la gente de Cuba. Hay detalles finos que cuidar de información, pero en general buen trabajo.
Ahora más personas conocerán y comprenderán a Cuba.
Baseball is also the national sport of Puerto Rico, Venezuela, and specially Dominican Republic, so let's not lie about "being unique because they play baseball and not soccer" because that's what most Caribbean countries do.
just because you say it that is not what is happening in Cuba
he does not abhore cominism as much when he promotes tourism to the comunist governed island that is gonna increase Castro fortune and its way to pay for good press and extra repressive sequirity ,not to mention more propaganda and Mr Bourdin how come you trust Cuban goverment data about housing ,medical ,education?
americans have alot to learn from cuba.even if you are against communisms you can"t deny the positives ,health care for all ,education ,no racism .castro gave a better life to his people at the time and pride and managed to resist american imperialism thats why americans still hate him.
Cuba is one of the few places on earth that does not have a Rothschild controlled Central Bank. It must be nice to not have Jews taking 25% of your pay to run their bullshit money scams.
the comments dont talk about food, but uneducated political ramblings from people who have never been there, or have never actually talked to cuban people. going there for my second time with my family because it is a beautiful country with beautiful people that have a different political outlook on life (which they are allowed to have even though you may not understand it or disagree with it)
I can go to this country because my country instead of bullying and shunning, isnt a 5 year old child
@ZobaK1 First of all, it's *dictatorship and second of all, there is way more to Cuba than politics. There is a beautiful island and culture there, but people as ignorant as you, are blind to its beauty.
@LindaLovesYouu Island is really beautiful I agree, its fucking Carribean island, but while you are sleeping in your fancy hotel and spending your dollars, there is secret police agent on every corner, people are starving (and diyng) in jails with many political prisoners, everyone is supicious, what if neigbour is listening, its dangerous to speak free about the regime etc., etc... so, sorry to beeing so ignorant dear Linda!
Cubans live in FEAR of the heavy hand that rules them. Many have not left, cause they don't have the means. You actually have to buy your freedom(carta blanco) from the repressive Castro Government. Recently Fidels son was caught selling visas to those who could afford. Nobody is lilly white. Viva Las Damas De Blaco, people now starting to protest in public.
I can't believe what I saw when watching this so called cooking show on Cuba. Half the time this guy is complaining about communism. Does he even understand the history of Cuba? How the spanish colonized Cuba in search of riches, basically nearly wiping out the whole indian population for capitalism and money. Then came the black slaves. Then came the Americans and the stealing of Guantanomo Bay and the Bay of Pigs. This man is either ignorant or a fool.
@203207ab Did you not listen to the beginning? He knows the history damn well about Cuba, but he doesn't want to make this possible only opportunity to visit Cuba to dwell on their terrible past. He wants to show that while Cubans have and still will come over to the US for better opportunities, they are still very fond and full of love for their homeland. That is what Bourdain is doing, showing why Cubans love their land.
@thierryman I agree partly with your statement, although everyone seems to come to the U.S. for better opportunities. Cuba is 90 miles away from Florida by boat and Mexico is even closer. I just think he should have mentioned the reasons behind these long standing conflicts. Cubans in Cuba are also very prideful of how they stood up to the U.S. even though they might not hate us. Also, what opportunities? There haven't been very many good job opportunities in many years for millions living here!
I was blessed to visit Cuba, legally, about 4 years. It changed me forever. What a beatuful country full of beautiful people. May they someday be free to have self-determination. They are right to be proud of their island country. It is the jewel of the carribean.
Amazing. Anthony Bourdain is the man, I'm currently reading his book, Kitchen Confidential, and it's as honest as no other being has ever been brave enough. Amazing!
Gracias, Tony Bourdain, i couldn't imagine that one day you would visit my beautiful island, yeah, i know that know we are not in our best shape cause of the communist dictatorship that we have suffered, but thank u very much for showing the world the beauty of my country, GRACIAS ,HERMANO!!!
Bourdain is terrific. No BS about him. I missed the CUBA series on TV and I'm glad you were kind enough to make it accessible on U-Tube. Cubans living in the USA should be proud of their ex. homeland. If they really do research, they'll find Castro did the right thing at the time. Batista was a crook and was screwing the cuban people. But never mind politics, I love this country.
thank you mr. bourdain for doing the best you dared... that's all we can ask for... as you said the show was not satisfying to me but then there's only so much you can fit into a show... some of your comments were "uugh" but the show and you were "woohoo"... viva tony! viva CUBA LIBRE!
thanks for uploading the video.. It was great watching something positive from my beautiful island... thanks Anthony u really did a great show... Now to those people who fullfilled their heart with hatred towards their own country.. Shame on you. The cuban Patriot Juan G. Gomez wrote once "Those who love the fatherland, even in the worst periods, are those who truly love her".. Cuba isnt even bad....so what if you cant leave, who the fuck would want to. fidel Castro isnt even bad, its all western propaganda. At least he actually fought for his country and isnt just a talking shit like politicians here in states who send men to die for greed. Castro was in the trenches.
Some Cubans are just bitching because they see whores on American TV and want to be like them , but arent allowed. Trust me Cuba is nicer than US and people are nicer!
@agenthelios1 cuba/castro aren't bad? so what if you can't leave? who would want to? western propaganda? first, cuba is destroyed, castro is a DICKtator, i wonder how you would feel if you couldn't leave from your country to visit this "magical place", hundreds of cubans leave every year by any means necesary, including surfing, rafting, smugglers, and even in the undercarriages of airplaines. it's not western propaganda, it's the truth, and not even all of it... but im just cuban, what do i kno
Everything is entitled of an opinion, and here is mine. It is a very positive and honest approach. He does mention the negative things, limitations and failures of the government, but focusing in all the beautiful things that the country has to offer, the culture, the food, the warmth of the people. I am Cuban and had to go through all kind of limitations, but I can't say is a poor country, because is so rich in so many aspects, in so many ways, and this video reflects that and more.
Spent 3 weeks recently in Cuba, including 4 days in Havana, and it was easily the most amazing holiday of my life. Watching this is making me pine for the simplistic brilliance. I never once missed youtube, or my twitter account. All that mattered was the food, the music, the lifestyle. Hope I can return soon
TRIPADVISOR CUBA forum is over run by leftest commies who blow smoke up each others arsh. They hate America and only out to trump up business too Cuba. They even apologize for the flies on the buffet tables and the watered down drinks..
And as to all you Cuban people. Aren't you happy that for once someone is actually showing the beauty of our country instead of the misfortune? You're all so ignorant that you can't even see what's in front of you. Thanks to Anthony we can see that not only is this country, yes very poor, but that it is in it's own very beautiful. Its not like here in the USA when people have a problem with money everyone gets stressed and what not, over there they find the best in things to be happy.
@taniaxom why are you calling cubans ignorant the only ignorant here is you, hes only showing the best part of cuba I dare him to spend 1 week as a normal cuban he wont last 2 days living without a/c and food
To all you ignorant Americans that comment on this video, first of all you know NOTHING about what actually goes on inside that country. It is for ONCE nice to see someone go there and actually video tape the AMAZING, BEAUTIFUL, and FUN things that go on in my country. As you can tell the people there are as happy as can be even though they may be going through so much misfortune. They find the best in anything to be happy and okay.
Blockade? Please! Havana has hotels made by Spainiers and others. You can buy anything you like in those hotels including steaks (something Cubans aren't able to buy without risking going to jail) Shampoo, toothpaste (colgate) , etc. They do have air conditioners made in Japan and all kind of stuff made in France, China , etc. The blockade is a stupid political move by our Congress that only give Fidel an excuse for all its failures .
All you silly ignorant people who have good things to say about fidel and communism, live it first before you open your mouths , because until you do you really have no clue.
But you fail to realize that it is like this due to the blocade by America for over 40 yrs the government of the us has tried to starve the people of Cuba because they stood up against the empire and capitalism.
Looks like he still has to travel outside of Havana to see the real picture of Cuba. Sure free education and healthcare, expect healthcare is very poor there and they teach the children nothing more then communist at it's fullest. No freedom of speech, expression, press , etc. Welcome to Alcatraz!
@sensimania1 My folks are from Cuba, they travel there to see the family members there, and after seeing all the video being taken there, how they have a hardship to get food on the table with the ration card which is very very limited, how kids can't drink milk after there 7 years old, run-down towns/village cause the government won't fund to improve the infrastructure, and how the family members can't speak out there minds cause neighbor watchers watching there every move if ur against the sys
@sensimania1 Basically what I'm saying is that if they do the documentaries outside of Havana, they will get the whole picture, not what the government painted for everybody in just Havana Cuba.
Free health care but without medicine or doctors, or supplies and the hospitals were built before the revolution and never repaired. Bourdain needs to live in Cuba as a cuban without dollars for a month and then shoot a documentary, I would love to see that one.
@EICTILECO Why dont you compare Cuba with america and then make your negative comments for being a country that has been under an economic blocade from the us for over 40 years i would expect it to look like that compare education ,Health care , and human well being look at whats going on in the western world what does capitalism have to show for its self. Fidel el comandante we love you. The motto of cuba "homeland or die " The revolution will live for ever.
Habana is beautiful tony? That's because you went to the tourists spots only ! Go to where my Cubans really live ! Go see real Cubans. You Tony , you went to the spots that castro's regime allowed you to go and film. Don't try to spoon feed feed me or any other Cuban this bullshit that Cuba is so beautiful. Once upon a time it was and thats before castros raped and destroyed her. Always loved you and your shows Tony, today am dissapointed in you.
@medalla30x Remember that Tony was in a COMMUNIST country: he was given tours by people loyal to the government, and it obviously is a distorted picture, as they want to show him the "best" that Cuba has to offer. Tony pointed that out numerous times during the episode.
@medalla30x Yes, Habana is beautiful I been in Habana 3 times (see my videos) i have friends who host me at Santos Suarez 10 de Octubre (near La Vibora Park) and I don't go to tourist places I move on public buses (guagua) I eat at paladares in national currency (not CUC) and Havana is a magic place I wish that everybovy get to know Cuba.
I would be scared to go there. I wonder if they hate us.

My wish is that Cuba stays the way it is, with major economical changes of course.
One good thing about Cuba is that you rarely see any American and the ones you see aren't the loud type. Don't turn Havana into another Cancun.

Always loved you and your shows Tony, today am dissapointed in you.
medalla30x 7 months ago
