They should stick with regular dvd. I'm an advanced user video user. I rip all my dvd's into my computer and store them on my home entertainment server. I have the Western Digital HD Media player connected to my HD video projector and the upscale quality is no different than Blu-Ray! Everybody is getting fucking suckered by Hollywood!

disney is going to release (or re-issue) the princess diaries onto blu-ray in 2011 under the platinum/diamond edition product line-up with new special features not seen on dvd including bd-live capablity and a digital copy of the film as well as exclusives you can't get anywhere else.

Aladdin is under the ol' controversy now, due to the war in Iraq thing, and also it didn't sell well for some reason. This is gonna make the regular dvd skyrocket in the future in value so stock up.
The 13 listed are ones for Diamond Edition that Disney is doing. Aladdin now is a free property in the sense that it doesnt follow the release calendar for the premium releases (diamond). Meaning that they can release the film whenever.
Being on the list just ensures ur going to get a new re-mastered version. If Aladdin does come out, its just going to be a re-release of the older dvd special edition.

You know whats funny, this AD came out in December of 2006, thats was almost two years ago and NONE of the the movies on the list it shows have come out on Blu-Ray.
Sleeping Beauty comes out next week, but there are still other titles announced that have not been on blu-ray.

I just started my Disney Blu-Ray today, with Cars and POTC 01. And I must say that I'm really amazed with the sound and the picture. The only thing I don't like is that they only put the 7.1 surround sound in english, not french. They should fix that. But still, HD is so dead meat.

Too bad your posts is filled lies, Sony is not the sole owner of blu ray nor is it even the majority owner of it either. Samsung is the majority owner of blu ray not sony. Sony is just pushing the format the most in the market.

Yep, you definately get what you pay for, especially if you dont want to hear Dolby True HD, or DTS HD Master audio. I cant beleive people are still buying into this junk, especially with all the problems it's had. HD DVD may have 'had' problems but it can be fixed with a firmware update that the player itself can download via ethernet (which bluray players dont have) or Toshiba automatically sends you the firmware via express post as soon the new firmware is available after you register.
Disney will release to HD DVD soon. The CEO stated that the next format they will go with should have Internet capabilities and HDi, Blu Ray doesn't have either. You paid all that money for something that doesn't play all the movies released and cant play PIP commentary. Bluray doesn't encode into VC-1, only mpeg2, with is inferior. The only reason it is outselling HD DVD at the mo, is because PS3 has it inbuilt, and sony are looking at getting rid of that.

It was an advertisement placed on Disney DVDs starting with the October 2006 release of Cars. It was also on the second Pirates movie that came out in December 2006.
It seems that Blu-ray is better than the inferior almost dead HD-DVD. Blu-ray shown more movies and exclusive than HD-DVD. And as for the porn, there is the internet as in it's not gonna help it.
If you're going to make statements, how about backing them up? "Almost dead"? Sales are about 60/40 favoring blu-ray. So if HD DVD is almost dead, blu-ray must be pretty sick. More movies/exclusives? How about listing numbers? (I think you'll be shocked at the equality.) I also find it ironic to comment about the superiority of blu-ray for a video showing stuff that hasn't been released. Disney is currently not planning to release ANY of that, contrary to what the slick video says.
Fun advertisement... to bad that months and months have gone by and not a single one of those titles have even been announced for blu-ray. Don't expect to see any of them during 2007 at least. Disney's great at putting together those slick little ads, but pretty terrible at actually releasing stuff. I'll stick with HD DVD.
Grow up, that was posted 4 months ago. The PS3 brought up sales past HD DVD, but nowhere near what Sony had hoped. The PS3 effect will see dimishing returns, and knowing that enthusiasts are flocking to HD DVD (more than 100,000 HD DVD standalone players have been sold, with only 30,000 Blu-ray standalone players) it is only a matter of time before HD DVD is back in the lead again.
People, get a HD DVD/ Blu-Ray player, because it upverts your standered DVDs to 1080i, which is almost full HD. That way you don't have to rebuy all of your old DVDs, and watch them in HD.
Disney and studio marketing is a greedy business. First they release the regular DVD for sale then months later they come out with the collectors editions and then months after that they come out with the Double Disk Editions now Blu-Ray ... What's next HD Versions since the blu-ray vs. HD Disk war isn't over yet.
people are going to be mad cus they bought most of the disney movies on DVD and now they have to spend another $20 for a tiny disk AND buy another disc player to play blu-ray. where is the logic in that? its stupid.
BluRay holds more than DVD, using a narrower blue laser, hence BluRay. More information on the disc means more room for better quality movies at a much more improved resolution (1080p vs. 480p). I hope this helps you out.

i just realized in WALL-E when wall-e and eve are on the axiom and looking around, they were advertising to "Try Blue Shirts" so watch for that on a future blu-ray ad

I just started my Disney Blu-Ray today, with Cars and POTC 01. And I must say that I'm really amazed with the sound and the picture. The only thing I don't like is that they only put the 7.1 surround sound in english, not french. They should fix that. But still, HD is so dead meat.

Too bad your posts is filled lies, Sony is not the sole owner of blu ray nor is it even the majority owner of it either. Samsung is the majority owner of blu ray not sony. Sony is just pushing the format the most in the market.
Also how many people went out and bought the hda2 players the ones that can't even play 1080i/p resolution.

Yep, you definately get what you pay for, especially if you dont want to hear Dolby True HD, or DTS HD Master audio. I cant beleive people are still buying into this junk, especially with all the problems it's had. HD DVD may have 'had' problems but it can be fixed with a firmware update that the player itself can download via ethernet (which bluray players dont have) or Toshiba automatically sends you the firmware via express post as soon the new firmware is available after you register.

Disney will release to HD DVD soon. The CEO stated that the next format they will go with should have Internet capabilities and HDi, Blu Ray doesn't have either. You paid all that money for something that doesn't play all the movies released and cant play PIP commentary. Bluray doesn't encode into VC-1, only mpeg2, with is inferior. The only reason it is outselling HD DVD at the mo, is because PS3 has it inbuilt, and sony are looking at getting rid of that.

In Europe, 94% of player ( including PS3 and HD DVD add-on) are Blu-ray
In Japan, both software and hardware sales are 94.8% for march 2007, before, it was 94.7%.
People, don't make the wrong choice.
Asian countries, namely Indonesia, Philippine, and some other ASEAN only have BD distributed legally with government approval. HD DVD? Only import, and even import BD beat the number of import HD DVD. trust me

blu-ray is outselling hd dvd by 2:1 every week. Plus we have spidey,pirates,simpsons the movies,and many more. Also when all the new players come out they will kick hd dvds but!

Blu-ray is outselling HD DVD by more than 2 to 1. That means the gap between HD DVD and Blu-ray sales are more than the total number of HD DVD discs sold.

If you check zdnet, you'll see:
" An estimated 3.7 million high-definition discs have been sold, including 2.2 million in Blu-ray and 1.5 million in HD DVD through the end of July."
That's a gap of 700,000 titles. That's it.

I'm talking about selling currently, not since inception numbers. Blu-ray is weekly outselling HD DVD by 2:1. YTD it is over 2:1.

It was an advertisement placed on Disney DVDs starting with the October 2006 release of Cars. It was also on the second Pirates movie that came out in December 2006.

It seems that Blu-ray is better than the inferior almost dead HD-DVD. Blu-ray shown more movies and exclusive than HD-DVD. And as for the porn, there is the internet as in it's not gonna help it.

If you're going to make statements, how about backing them up? "Almost dead"? Sales are about 60/40 favoring blu-ray. So if HD DVD is almost dead, blu-ray must be pretty sick. More movies/exclusives? How about listing numbers? (I think you'll be shocked at the equality.) I also find it ironic to comment about the superiority of blu-ray for a video showing stuff that hasn't been released. Disney is currently not planning to release ANY of that, contrary to what the slick video says.

Fun advertisement... to bad that months and months have gone by and not a single one of those titles have even been announced for blu-ray. Don't expect to see any of them during 2007 at least. Disney's great at putting together those slick little ads, but pretty terrible at actually releasing stuff. I'll stick with HD DVD.

Grow up, that was posted 4 months ago. The PS3 brought up sales past HD DVD, but nowhere near what Sony had hoped. The PS3 effect will see dimishing returns, and knowing that enthusiasts are flocking to HD DVD (more than 100,000 HD DVD standalone players have been sold, with only 30,000 Blu-ray standalone players) it is only a matter of time before HD DVD is back in the lead again.

People, get a HD DVD/ Blu-Ray player, because it upverts your standered DVDs to 1080i, which is almost full HD. That way you don't have to rebuy all of your old DVDs, and watch them in HD.

Disney and studio marketing is a greedy business. First they release the regular DVD for sale then months later they come out with the collectors editions and then months after that they come out with the Double Disk Editions now Blu-Ray ... What's next HD Versions since the blu-ray vs. HD Disk war isn't over yet.

BluRay holds more than DVD, using a narrower blue laser, hence BluRay. More information on the disc means more room for better quality movies at a much more improved resolution (1080p vs. 480p). I hope this helps you out.
