@jserra17 as for Republican leaders bringing wages down, I have no idea what your talking about. If anyone is bring wages down is the Democrats from over spending. Plus the union is just as idiotic and the Democratic party.
@jserra17 we vote Republican because obama spent trillions in pointless shit. We owe china so much money, and all that money did absolutely nothing for the American people. Him and his wife spent 3 billion dollars flying around the world, how is that possible? Obama should be impeached, he only won because of his race. Don't tell me that's bs either, he got 95% of the black vote. I vote Republican because I think.
People were making more as operators 20 years ago than now. If the Koch brothers and the Republican leadership have their way, there will be no more union jobs and $30,000 will be all you'll ever make. So, tell me again, why do you guys all vote Republican?
I've been spending a lot of time watching your videos Chris, I'm 17. I just graduated high school but ever since I was a little kid I would force my dad to take me to job sites to watch the machines and ever since I've been absolutely hooked and want to get in to this as a career. My questions are a couple, what does it pay? Realistically? I've heard estimates of approx. $20-40/hr, how do you like your job? What's it like getting in to this career? Anyone with responses will help, thanks!
@woofiny i wouldnt expect more than 25 on the high side if your non-union. im not even making 20 and i do everything. class A cdl, mechanic, laborer and welder/fabricator,
Economy is bad. Its going to be hard to get your foot in the door. Expect to be a laborer for a while and thats where you should start. Sucks being a laborer with a bad operator so when your in the seat make sure there is as little hand work as possible within reason.
@letsdig18@hammerdwn20 Yes, but see, I live in Western Canada (Oil country) and I would be able to start at wages in the $22 rage working on the oil sands. I'm curious as to how employers like the operator training programs you can take.
@letsdig18 In Jersey heavy equipment ops get $50,000+/year. If you're fortunate to land a crane op job then you're looking at $65,000+ easy. Sounds like a lot but when you factor in the cost of living it's not really much. If you made $20/hr in the south you're doing really well imo. $20/hr up here? Better be married or have a 2nd income lol.
@letsdig18 i work for local 181 as an operating engineer and we make 22-28 depending on the job but we only work 9 months a year go union it pays better
@deere624kloader Typed like a time and tested true operator, like you have been running gear for many years, oh wait, you are only 14, so spoken like a true and time tested keyboard operator.

@wingmanalive No guarantee you'll make 65k a year, even running a rig (crane). Nothing's guaranteed in life.

@woofiny if you got a job working up here in Calgary alberta and you were running a big cat 385 then 40 an hour is realistic .
Fiend2011 7 months ago
@Fiend2011 No it's not, that's about $10 an hour more than you'd ever get paid as a highly skilled operator doing specialized work.

@woofiny IT's a competative fild of work. take's a while till you can be competative.

@woofiny Most people start out as a laborer and work their way up from there. The wage depends upon what they pay in your local area.
