Connect the leads (emitter-collector) as a diode in the place of your solarcell....
find out a better way to get a bright spot from begind the scanning disc with the use of a "bullseye" lense and see what happens when you start the camera.
You will be able to get a better quality picture, even possible to see your own face on the monitor.
Nice job so far, and it looks like my first results when I started with this hobby in the 1992.......So, Maybe you could try something I did to become a much better picturenow. Find a smal (metal housed) transistor, 2N2222 or similar, anyway almost al transistors in metal houses are usable.Cut of the head very carefully with a steanless knife or something, like you are opening a can of beans, only the upper surface of the transistor.Don't touch the inner parts of that transistor,
