Wow I can't believe people actually liked that comment by drouleau :L I just mean if you're going to use a brand at least learn the proper way to say its name?
@Hurd300403 does the difference between a 1.8 and 1.4 lens really matter? Are they identical or major difference. But I was looking at that lens especially because of the price.
@LCAPhoto the 1.4 lenses are usually built better. metal casing, a bit higher performing glass and such, but the visual differences between 1.8 and 1.4 are very slight. the 35 1.8 does have a bit more noticeable vignetting on a full frame sensor, but on the d3100 you'll be just fine. if you aren't going to be shooting every day of the week you probably don't need the 1.4 simply because you won't need the better build quality
@LCAPhoto Also, the 1.8 is a DX lens. If he were to use it on his D700, which is FX, then the D700 would automatically set itself to DX crop meaning that you're only using 6 megapixels.
Quick question... I'm getting a D3100 with a 18-55 and 55-300mm. What lens should I invest in later on if I get any extra money? Should I get one with a wider maximum aperture? Because the the widest I can get is 3.6 and thats on my 18-55 and if anything I would use my 55-300mm more.
I have been trying to find a video about "how to clean the lenses" of these types of cameras and the external lenses. I have heard different way of going about it. Internal and external. I like to know how to take care of thimgs before I buy them! Thanks:)
as far as I know, that asp is illegal to have unless you're in security/law enforcement. but who cares. i'm with you since it's expensive stuff. I used the bottom half of my center column on my tripod if i need to. i never really use it on my tripod.
@xxgwyloxx Ah, you're one of those types. First off, I couldn't care less. Second, I have better things to do than learn Japanese, especially to learn how to "properly say Nee-kon". Third, words from other cultures get slaughtered all the time and it becomes accepted/the norm. Pop a Xanax and go enjoy your day.
@StationZeroOne Well, I would spend 1000$ for a lens which has a stunning optical quality but a slow focus rather than 1000$ for a lens which has very fast focus but average optical quality....
@FinlandApollo well the lens costs more than 100$ and.. well... I WOULD NEVER SPEND THIS AMOUNT OF MONEY FOR THE "HIGHEST END 35mm PRIME" by NIKON if the AF-S IS WORSE THAN THE AF-S OF e.g. THE HSM OF THE SIGMA 30mm 1.8
@StationZeroOne You compare Nikon 35mm F1.4G to a Sigma 30mm?!?! Jesus, wake up! Sigma has terrible bokeh, terrible optical quality, lots of vigneting and no weather sealing. Only good thing is the fast focus but its shit too because it hunts too much. And why do I think in this way? Because I've owned Sigma and I've used that Nikon alot...
And, I didn't say that it costs 100$, I said 1000$. Stop raging and get back to reality...
@FinlandApollo Jesus I m too lazy to read your whole comment.. so i m just recommending to your first sentence.... IT WAS AN EXAMPLE... cause there is no 35mm except the 35mm 1.8 DX and you can t compare a DX prime consumer lens with a pro prime... so I just took any 30 mm prime lens which is also made for use on a FX model
@FinlandApollo by the way... i m stopping this discussion in here cause it s getting boring... I just said I THINK <- that this lens is awfully slow... so that s my opinion and please accept this and don't get on my nerves any longer... THANKS peace out
Nice shit, nice shit. Where'd you get the baton thing, after being attacked by some guy while shooting in LA I wouldn't mind having something more then just a monopod with a D2H on the end, which I might add, also works very very well.
@hurd300403 Cool ty. Check out the Tamrac S.A.S. battery case on Amazon if you like organizing your batts/CF/SD cards. It's about 15 bucks and is very nicely constructed out of high quality nylon/zippers.
Did anyone else notice the lack of lens cap on the 70-200mm!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey dude, I'd go easy throwing my hard drives around.
Hard drives can be pretty fragile - they are the computer component that fails most frequently.

I'd usually stop watching a video when I hear Nikon pronounced "Nai-kon" but this one intrigued me a little.
xxgwyloxx 6 months ago
@xxgwyloxx "Nee-kon" sounds gay. Besides, we have to American-ize it.
drouleau 6 months ago
@drouleau Uhmm ever heard of the language Japanese? Yeah learn it and then tell me it's not "nee-kon"

by the way... I think the 35mm 1.4's af is awful slow for such an expensive prime lens!
StationZeroOne 11 months ago
@StationZeroOne Why would he need speed in focusing when he's shooting potraits and things where things doens't move quickly.
FinlandApollo 8 months ago
@FinlandApollo why should he spend over a 1000 dollars for a lens which even can't focus quickly @ good light conditions... even if it got a new AF-S
