I bought my TR2 YPF 427 at Gipsy Hill Motors for £175.00 in 1967 i sold it in 2005 just 2 months before coming to Thailand to a man from France for £2000 and delivered it to him. I drove the car as my everyday transport for the first 6 years. The last time i drove it was 1995 i loved that car and was very sorry to see it go.
I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so Also keeps carbs/injection and tank clean and rustfree!
Great video! I had a red 1966 TR4 with wire wheels and then bought a TR4- A with wire wheels just for spare parts(this was before the advent of PC's and eBay and parts were expensive and hard to find). I wish the video would have delved a bit more into the TR4 and later models though.
I have never forgotten the 1962 Tr3 my uncle bought and later gave to me in the later 60's. I truly love that wonderful BRG,
