The first race I ever saw flag to flag. I was 9 at the time. This race took multiple Mountain Dews and 3 pizzas to make it through the whole thing. I was so happy afterwords for Kevin LePage. He ended up finishing 7th. One of th best races ever for the Underdog to pull through. Ironically, Kevin LePage had Underdog on the hood of his car that race.
This, single handedly was the craziest NASCAR race in recent memory. With the combination of the newly "levigated" asphalt on that track and the softer tire compound NASCAR used in 2005 made for some insanely fast speeds, but HORRIBLE tire reliability.
@goragan6 i think the racing is better know. granted they can't pass when you get the lead, but its still AWESOME racing. never had these wild allstar races on the old pavement.
well yes. the bankin 500 was a decent race. at certain points we had pretty good side by side racing, but i still like the old pavement. (in my opinion) this was the best race i've ever seen and no question, that was a good finish
It took the fall race to figure out it was diamond grind surface shredding the tires causing a whole bunch of wrecks. They end up repaving the track after the fall race.
3 years later in the sprint cup series, theres onlt about 1 actual crash a race now, maybe another spin and thats it, at leats thats how it is so far in the 2008 season
no there was a yellwo or 2 before it while he was leading people were pitting and he wasnt going to, or something like that, it was a situation where if it stayed green he woulda won.
The open he just plain dumped Bliss, but at talladega that was really a misjudgement on his part, i think the 48 suprised him a bit, i dont think that was delibrate, but the Open was lol

This was the craziest race I have ever seen. I watched it after the Indy 500 in 2005.
