They did recently remodel the place, and a lot of the photos were scanned in and play as a slideshow on a flat screen. They still have some on the walls, but they were simply running out of room! (And the ones on the wall by the side door were getting too much sun and fading fast.) They haven't had the arcade games in a while, I think they wanted to make room for more seating. (I miss Cruisin' the most.)

I've been eating here for years. There are stores like Nick's all over the place in Massachusetts and I have tried many of them. Seriously, Nicks has the best Beef around; hands down.

I will disagree with the Onion Rings being spectacular. They are good, to be sure, but I think the really outstanding ones can be found at King's in Salem, MA. They hand-batter them right when you order, you just cannot beat that kind of freshness. King's beef is not as good as Nicks though, for sure.

I was there 2 weeks ago with friends visiting from Texas... giving them the full North Shore treatment, including a trip to Nick's Famous. Right when our order comes up, I turn around to get it and who do I see but Nick himself. He definitely doesn't work there anymore, but you can tell he just can't pull himself away from the place. Nick is THE MAN indeed.
