Today as yesterday, one of the most moving songs ever recorded. I heard it as a child when Gerry & The Pacemakersfirst released it & some 48 years later it still resonates... suspect it will another half century from now.

My own opinion: while one particular singer or group may have had more 'hits' than another, I will place the best songs Gerry & The Pacemakers up against the best any other. Music is very personal hence no consensus will ever exist.

i saw gerry & his new "pacemakers" last night and it was great!! i was lucky enough to have gerry sign my LP cover!! :-D he closed with this song and then again after the encore song!! he such a great guy and very down to earth and loves to talk between songs!! one amazing performer. come back to ontario soon :-D
