  • I was stuck at boarding school in Windermere thanks to the floods. I couldn't go home!

  • I feel that the house prices in that area will drop alot now that people know it`s prone to flooding.

  • Well done John, on vividly capturing this devastating time. Makes me feel very humble and grateful. We were lucky to be spared any damage up at Waterhead.

    ps Digital SLR?

  • It is a Canon EOS 40D EF-S 17-85mm lens so good combination for an amature photographer like me! Cheers John

  • I knew it!! I have Canon EOS 35D with 18-55mm lens. Looking at wider angle. Do you run on Windows 7 to put the slideshow together? JJ

PS Have you had any rude remarks about your footage? I have had one ignorant comment, hard to take when we are trying to reassure other berth holders. I note that you have removed a comment.

  • Hi, Run on Windows Vista, 1st time ever done a movie so quite pleased with result, canons are great cameras. Not had any rude comments yet, I didnt remove the comment the author did so dont know what he said! Like you say we are trying to let people see what has happened and reassure them where we can. hopefully wont see another day like it too soon...Cheers John

  • Its not quite that easy, there are lots of other complications in doing this and with 500+ boats and fast rising water (10ft in some parts) through the night where do you start????

  • why did nodody untie or cut the ropes, to prevent the boats from sinking? i'm confused!

  • The WMV team acted upon weather warnings adjusting warps throughout Thursday into Friday finishing at 4am when conditions became too dangerous to continue. The lake level rose to an unprecedented height exceeding the normal level by 10 ft.

We would like to thank all mooring holders & businesses who have helped & offered support during this difficult time.

The Marina is now back up & running with a cleanup operation ongoing within the properties, we hope to have these refurbished early in 2010.

  • Yes, I think I can speak on behalf of myself and all mooring holders that a massive thank you is owed to Dan and his team who worked continually throughout the horrendous weather and difficult conditions to right things and protect as much as they could from further damage. Well done and thankyou.
