@erginakif Feryal Turkoglu has a powerfull voice and she is a wonderful interpreter, but she doesn't reach the level and the greatness of Callas at this time!
I love that along with the thick, soaring high notes, she also revels in the low stuff, almost like a contralto - I'm not surprised she was classed as a contralto in the early stages of her singing career, even if it wasn't entirely accurate in the end.
Ok,since nobody dares to tell the truth,i will.If such a terrible performance took place today in Milan'Scala by SOME OTHER UNKNOWN SOPRANO the crowd would boo her loud and clear AND I WOUL NOT BLAME THEM. The conductor's perception and Callas' disharmony here are UNBEARABLE. That certain production was an insault to Verdi.
@vernadakieleni Truth? Should your vision come true, and "some other unknown soprano", looking like Callas, acting like Callas and singing like Callas, wearing Lila de Nobili's costumes in de Nobili's incredible settings, would perform Traviata, each and everyone of us would be more than pleased to have the privilege to be there.
@vernadakieleni Maria Callas had a huge voice, very penetrating, the machines back then cound;t take her whole voice and make her sound like she was horrible. Even in her studio recordings you can hear in some parts that the mic hit red!
I know as a musician and an opera singer that when i sing with a low quality mic it makes my voice , in the loud parts, horrible and unstable.
Who conducted this ? Isn't it a bit too fast? I have the feeling La Callas is in a hurry and not perfectly together with the orchestra, which she usually is in an uncomparable way!
anche dall'immagine del video si nota come questo genio di donna sapesse diventare Violetta..lei non la cantava..lei era Viloetta,Norma, e tutte le altre..sublime...

@TheCaroleBeer Carlo-Maria Giulini! The sound track is very bad, but I agree with you.

@TheCaroleBeer Carlo Maria Giulini was the director. Callas is unique but Traviata wasn't for her

@Miniero666 Oh...please!

@Miniero666 Too bad if Traviata wasn't for her, since Callas IMO was one of the best Violettas in recorded history.
Why I think that? She was all three acts-Violetta wich is not the case with most of the sopranos who usually sing or
sang this veeery taxiing role.

Questa era la Callas in una repkica fra le tante,dava tutto,era proprio Violetta che con agilità temerarie e voce argentina viveva la sua follia.
