I'm a Marine Corps combat veteran, and the techniques shown here are very useful in terms of combat and real-life self-defense. For those of you who disagree, fine, but you can glean something from it and add it to your repertoire instead of dismissing it completely. The most effective warrior, is the one who incorporates many styles-to the Spetnaz, respect to you and the instructors of Systema.
No doubt in your high professional trainings and highly advanced defensive techniques, but I would like to ask you or see, how such techniques can be applied when you face up with unexpected attackers ( drunk , crazy ...) using real power or even a strong man holding a knife and threatening you , and while he attacks you with the knife , you should expect that he doesn't surrender easily ,so while you are disarming him you can get a punsh or kick or even a sudden knife in the other hand .
@strippoker23: that is exactly where this is meant for. The real power to counter that comes from yourself because you are not (or you shouldn't be) affraid to harm your attacker. All these techniques are to make sure YOUR power is directed correctly. The techniques should be so trained that you respond with a trained movement. So in your situation when you disarmed him and he continues you grab his hand when he punches you and you break it while taking him down.
im debating or not whether to get these dvds. how can one effectivley learn these without an instructor? I really want to learn systema but there are not many serious schools where i live, would one recommend just sparring with friends/watch the dvds.
@Rummity I have just purchased 12 of Vladimir Vasilievs DVD's and i find them very instructional, he is a master of his body and demonstrates some very good drills
@Rummity You are better off learning something like Judo. Those gyms are cheap and are everywhere.
Buying DVD's to learn martial arts is ridiculous as you need live sparring to perfect your technique, practise your mental game and improve fitness. For self defense, it is far more practical to learn something like kickboxing and for weapons defense, learn how to run very fast. Do not be fooled by systema. It is barely one step above hapkido in terms of usefulness.
I think a lot of people think that these people are faking it, that the trainees are simply falling to the floor purposely, but thats not how it works. Its a true art when you think about it, not only that, its deadly. Leave it to the Russians to find a way to kill in a billion different ways with only your bare fists.
It's not another "after JKD system" (kravmaga also isn't, you will find the roots in 30's, europ, czechoslovakia, guy's name Imi Lichtenfelda,) in , it was invinted in the same time, But built on different basics. You can see that if you ever train some martial arts. And it's f####g dangerus. And for you
deguimerautube, now. Its much more painful.
I have pleasure to train with guy from specnaz, and it wasn't fun. But very good leson.
Spetznats, Kravmaga and many new arts and new schools of training have taken forms, styles and techniques of what Bruce dubbed as the "classical mess". In the end fighting depends on the individuals physical make up, skill and experiences. " The Tao of JKD" is simply a documentary to bruces personal journey. Many have taken it to heart. It is not whose style is best. The common denominator for all the styles is the physical make up of the human body. The most important weapon is the mind.
Thank you for giving more insight into systema. I personally find your techniques interesting. I agree on your philosophy of being "natural". it is as always and should be an intrinsic part of any individual to act and react intuitively. I look forward to more insight into systema. Thank you!
@Loenneberga123 no not this thing makin us badasses... Our army is like in Israel, in Russia we've got mandatory army recruiting... Every single man should join army for 1 year, previously it was 2, but democrats - r badasses )))
@Loenneberga123 Yes, Yes we are. And TRUST me SpetsNaz Training to qualify for the russian spec forces was SERIOUS shit. Me and my friends would go home with no muscle strength at all. So that's part of the reason too.
hi "systemaspetznats" i have 2 questions for u. first- how can i understand if the systema teacher is fake?
second- i do K1 and i wanna complete my self also for my job. i can decide between a very good JKD master and a ex spetznats soldier (but i think he's not a master of systema) who is the best? thank you and sorry for my english!
Hello Italiano! I don't know who you are reffering to as fake? Give us a specific name? As far as your martial arts training - learn something that you feel is for you - I hope all the orginized religion is not fake - because no-one have seen god yet!
first off sfaick their is no such thing as a good jkd master because, that died along with its creator... any 1 who claims that they are a jkd master is full of shit, period, 2nd of all just saying that they are a jkd master is in complete condradiction with what bruce lee wanted to accomplish with it, I quote.." JKD is just a name if ppl are going to fuse over it then let the name die,
I would like to agree with you, but there are still many Jeet Kune Do Masters, and when i say many i mean hundreds. Just because Bruce Lee said some stuff about it doesnt put any emphasis on it. Bruce Lee was great but that doesnt mean he was right about everything. Many JKD masters are still out there and teaching wether you want to admit it or not is another thing.
The problem with JKD is the fact that the "Masters" are going against what the system's founder wanted; he didn't want masters, or belt systems, he didnt want a system at all; JKD was an IDEA, for the sake of putting a name to the persuit of knowledge without lineage, so though there are JKD masters out there, they aren't part of the JKD its founder made, because JKD was never a system to begin with; it was a state of mind.
Im a russian myself I wonder how much it would cost to train personally, if you know what i mean..

i dont think systema has a style, the systema trainers cant stress enough that what you do must be natural.

JKD is a philosophy , Bruce Lee took up Philosophy as a major. "Accept what is useful discard what is not".
telemachus888 2 years ago 3
So this is why most russians are fucking badasses.
Loenneberga123 3 years ago 33
This comment has received too many negative votes show
Russians are badasses more due to Sambo, not systema.
deguimerautube 2 years ago
sambo is taught to all spetznaz. the special forces within spetznaz are taken to a higher level and are taught systema.

I am seriously curious, do they teach Systema to the Spetznaz the same way they do in the video?
My only issue is, how is a man going to take down four guys without even touching them???
