Something tells me that the next generation, or at least the next next generation we will have drone carriers...carrying hundreds (if not thousands) of fighter drones. Not only would it be cheaper and cheaper to maintain, but once our technology gets there it'll be more efficient in every way.
Only a few humans would be on board for ma maintenance so all the space used for living, food, waste, etc. would save so much room. These automated carriers would be able to loiter indefinitely.
@keenkennyny The Air Force, Navy, and the Marine Corps have all stated that they think there is no replacement for a pilot's intuition. Why do you think that the only drones we have now are reconnaissance drones or ground attack drones? Drone controllers don't have to go through the same life-saving pressure that fighter pilots experience.
@AJAnewage The U.S. already spent too much money on the F-35 program. There won't be anymore "classified aircraft" for a while. And even if there was, there are too many crew members on a carrier that don't have security clearance for that kind of thing.
F16 and F22 models on the flight deck, F15 models next to "F18", F22 model next to "F35", confusing the landing strip with the catapults...
If you're going to take all the time to make all those models, take a few extra minutes to work from the right aircraft. As it is I wouldn't trust this video to sit the right way on a toilet seat.
@zszs100 It's not as cheap as the F/A-18E, it doesn't have room for two seats like the F/A-18F (and doesn't perform strike missions as well either), it can't perform the role of the EA-18 or the E-2D at all, and it's not a drone. And it's obviously not a helicopter either.
The F-35 is able to do a lot of things. However, an aircraft that does only one thing, and does it well, is going to do it a hell of a lot better than the F-35.
@DaWolf805 The F35 is better than the F18 all around except speed. The F35 is more manuverable, can carry more weapons, more advanced avionics , and steathy.
@zszs100 The cheapness is still a major factor. Why do you think the Navy keeps some of the older F/A-18 C/D Hornets instead of upgrading to an all F/A-18 E/F Super Hornet fleet?
And it still can't perform the role of any of the other aircraft.
@Typhoondelta1 agreed but by the looks of it ours will be better than the American carriers for a long time because this carrier is hardly into its planning stages
Their is already a Ford Class Super Carrier under construction, and will enter the fleet in 2015. The JFK is the 2nd Ford Carrier and will enter the fleet in 2018. Basically a new Superior will enter service every 3 years. I'm sure both countries will have the best carriers for the next 30 years.
@YouHadTheMoth This comment made me laugh, why would u be worried ? we're allies, dont matter who's got the best carrier as long as we are better than russia & china !! :D
Doesn't make any sense because the new aircraft carriers will be the Gerald R Ford Class, which is designed with the F-35 in mind, same with America class amphibious assault ships.
@xsf908 Ford class will have 3 Els, an island moved furthered to the fantail, EML cats, brand new reactors to handle the loads of brand new systems and propulsion systems. That, and better crew spaces.
That's not the new USS John F Kennedy CVN-79. That an Nimitz class carrier. The new USS John F Kennedy will be a Ford class CVN. Look it up.
I found this from the US Navy..

@TaldrenDR If its that good why did it get delayed another 2 years? A few buddies of mine are gonna be out of the Marines before they get a school slot to learn to work on this damn thing. And I was reccomended to go but I said hell no. instead I am stuck with this damn osprey now.
@highlo3517 F35 is an international aircraft ... dealing with one governments demands are bad enough ... dealing with a dozen or so is a real PITA. The delay revolves around the F35B because now everyone is like STOVL?!? Why not VTOL?!? I wish they seperated completely the development of the B with the A and C versions.
@TaldrenDR Better to just cancel the A version and divert it to C and B. The Air Force does not need the A variant when the C will do just fine and with more range.
@poyanator u r right its called carrier fleet its usually at least 2 Subs Minimum, frigates n other surface crafts to defend the carriers n in time of possible hostilities am sure there must always be some fighters in the sky they think of everything am sure the only problem with carriers n their fleets each cost $1.2 Million a Day to maintain n that is some Serious money n over $4Billion each to build unbelievable ammount

Tis video is full of error. What's d source? Firstly, the aircraft carrier used in d graphic is a Nimitz class vessel, with 79 printed on it. Tis is noticeable by her starboard elevators arrangements. Aircraft r all wrong, all non naval aviation. F-15E as F/A-18 & Growler, F-22 as F-35C, Helos r Army Blackhawk, & drones r AF Global Hawk.
@itismefn the ea-18g is made for carriars the f35c's are for carriars they are made for short take of they arnt geting the stov ones and it was saying drones because there will be preditor c's and x47's (kinda like them) in the future

@polygamous1mcdonald douglas built the best multirole fighter of its time, so when the U.S is looking for the Jack of all trades the company that built the best multirole fighter is singled out..... P.S my mistake on the name its McDonnell Douglas.... funny thing is the Navy is still keeping 20 f-18's as air superiority fighters while using the JSF solely as attack aircraft.....
@Baseshocks but the f18 like the f15 where build by the best brains in the country hey tried to build a top fighter n they did at that time the f22 was build to make money for the well connected a Big difference
@chickplaysgames The pictures of the carrier don't correspond either - the Ford class is very different from the Nimitz. Two starboard elevators instead of three. The island is further back and has no mast abaft it.
