Well, if this video is really from Gallup, they are using the word "communism" in the sense of "that system which isn't the American one", rather than the way the Soviets considered it.
I'm not saying the Soviet meaning of the word should be used, since it sounds pedantic and noone cares. But they should start calling it a "socialist state"/"socialism" like some other news agencies, since its a lot closer to what it actually was.
Most people will of course say that food is more available now because the stores are full, but this is misleading. The reason they are full now is because food is less affordable to people, so they buy and consume less. In the end, even if people had to stand in lines and see more empty shelves during the Soviet period, they ate much better back then.
This is supported by data on food and calorie consumption, as well as by the decrease in average heights in the former USSR.
Anyone who actually studies this will see that life is much worse. This is clear when you look at statistics on food consumption, birth and death rates, average heights and weights of people, crime, corruption, plus the statistics on the availability and quality of medical care, education and housing.

Who did they ask for the poll? People often compare the chaotic period of the late 80's and 90's to now, which is wrong when talking about the USSR. Also many are not willing to admit that it is worse.
also these counts are so pathetic, the sources are not russian based records, and things such as "food" improved much more. you had yo que for hours buying 'nice' food during communism, now its all simply in shops.. pathetic video
If you want to know what called the collapse of the soviet economy look up 'perestroika' or as they call it in Russia 'catastroika'. USSR was ahead of US n econ growth + tech for a long time. Look up the US trade embargo 'CoCom' which helped slow this growth ell before perestroika
The improvements in living conditions recently are largely due to Putin's renationalisation drive and his decapitating theiving oligarchs
Stop repeating Putin's propaganda. The relative improvements (compared to the 90's) are due to the rise in oil export revenues. At least some money from that trickled down to the people.

I'm not any great fan of Putin but his decapitation of what in our time was the nearest we have ever have to Libertarianism (incluindg a Nozickian original distriution of previously collective capital) was in gen good for Russia. Could be lots better though.
