Not to mention him trying to pawn off that sacchrine ballad "overcome" as THE 9/11 song. Yuck! It is a terrible song, and no NYer wanted anything to do with it, yet I have seen dozens of interviews with this jackass, talking about how HE(it was always him, never the band) had helped so many people after 9/11. I don't know if he lead singer bonus thing is true, but I have a hard time doubting it.
Yuck! For him to say that the lyrics are "not preachy" is a joke. If you have heard any of Live's albums between Distance to here & Birds of Pray, they a vomit inducing preachy. (V is one of the worst albums I have ever bought in my life [Swatch Watch?]) I have seen them in concert 5 times since 1991 and Ed became this preachy douche who chased me away from the band. I hear Live is bringing in Kevi Martin to sing, which would be real cool. I hope Ed enjoys the kid stage at Lollapolooza, F him!
Ed is one of the few guys that looks better without hair. Most guys that go bald are less attractive than they were with hair(although not necessarily unattractive) but Ed is the complete opposite. He looked kind of dorky and non-descript with it, and now looks quite handsome without.
@youusedthetube that's to bad! I read a blog from Chad Gracey. Shit, I allready didn't like the idea of Ed going solo because it sucked what i saw of him here on youtube. His ego is to big to be in a band I guess, just look ons his website, his little movies that he posted there are hilarious ( in the bad way of the word). He's so different than he used to be... shame...
This guy is really unique in that he is not caught up with the sucess that he has had. Seems like a really down to earth person. Thank God for Live because the music in the 90's would have really sucked without them,
"This guy is really unique in that he is not caught up with the success that he has had."
Go read the Live wikipedia page. There is a link to a blog by a former band member who would beg to differ on the claim that Ed is "not caught up with" his success.
Although, there are two sides to every story. I have not heard Ed's side yet, so I will reserve judgment.
Still, the rest of the band isn't happy with these things (including the infamous "Lead Singer Bonus").
My bad. I read up what is going on and it's too bad. They had a great chemistry with Ed as lead vocalist. It will be hard too replace him since he does have a great voice and stage presence.
My first trip into Live's music began with Mental Jewelry. I couldn't believe the depth of this young band starting out with the issues of the world on their shoulders and coming through in their songs. Then Throwing Copper cane out and blew me away. Seeing then in concert in Hartford CT right there with REM and Dylan. And look, still trying to stay up with Ed and new ventures! You've sang parts of my life and never knew it, Ed! I've cried in the connection, amazed that someone knew...
Comes across as very devoted to his craft. Hard edged, and soulful on his vocals. Seems like a really good guy. In a time of so much bubble gum music, nice to see LIVE is alive and kickin' .
Regardless, those are all great bands...well, except Creed...and I wish they were as popular as they were 15 years ago when music was actually...good.
I wonder if he likes tennis.....

And I agree, Velvet Revolver sucked.
STP was amazing, and their reunion this summer is gonna be fucking incredible.

I still say Pearl Jam influenced them all :)
LiVE, Creed , Collective Soul, Filter, Stone Temple Pilots before Velvet Revolver :)
Music is music, good is good but the original pioneers of Grunge rock will always be Seattles finest : Pearl Jam
by the way...Ed Kowlczyk isnt spiritual at all, hes just seen one too many Steven Seagal movies :)
