@AlexPrinzo It forces you to run correctly. You land with your knees bent. Therefore your joints don't take up all that shock and you are less injury prone. Also as long as you watch where you are going and build up the toughness on your feet it won't be so bad.
POSITIVE: I had Plantar Facitis for 8 years and used orthodics to try and manage the PF. 8 months in barefoot, and Vibrams (mostly Vibrams), I have ZERO PF problems anymore. I noticed improvement almost immediately.
NEGATIVE: My speed has dropped like a rock. I use to run 8:00 pace and sub-8 regularly. Now, I'm running 8:30-9:30 when in Nike Free, and I struggle to run 9:00 in the Vibrams. Hoping that my new stride eventually gets more efficient and speedy.
This is total BS. In trainers you're soles are cushioned! Outside barefoot you will get callus's as proved with other videos, much higher chance of infections, etc. It's a no brainer, wear shoes.
You are right about the chances of infection; but you only get infections when you cut your foot. You can always look where you're stepping ^-^
You don't really get callus from running barefoot. Maybe your skin gets thicker around the forefoot but not too much. I think the bottoms of my feet feel a little smoother after a runining; possibly because the skin gets sanded down a little...
I don't run barefoot because I wanna be hipster; its the feeling of being feeling weightless
As often as you are barefoot, do your feet ever really smell? I am guessing not. You have to know that there is a growing fanbase for your feet just because of the popularity of the fetish, and due in no large part because you are a beautiful girl. I feel bad, but your timeless beauty is always going to get in the way of your message about holistic health. I am quite proud of you for what you are doing.
People are just dumb. They don't realize that there was a time that shoes didn't exist. How do you think prehistoric humans ran? You body is designed to run like this. the only thing you have to do is work up the caluses and the calf strength to be able to do it.
To start: just wear vibram fivefinger shoes to get used to running "barefoot". Then kick them off after using them for about a month. If your feet start to bleed, you've gone too far.
