Everybody's blaming Obama though he's not the real player. I don't care a shit about him but this propaganda against him is just luring away people's attention from the real players. Why is Exxon buying up BP so suddenly? Just don't tell me that it's trying to save the world from the disaster. Actually I can even imagine that Exxon was the one behind the scenes (just a good deal). And pls leave the terrorists (muslims to you) out of the whole thing. The lack of proper justice for Bhopal is intolerable, 2 years and freed on $500 bail, low compensation for deaths and disabled. There is another story here- India's gov. and judicial corruption. Also, India's afraid harsh sentences w/ penalties could scare off current/potential investment and factory development in India by foreign companies. The result, Union Carbide (along with other foreign disasters in India not mentioned here) get a slap on the wrist when they should get a kick to the face.

, , , India should have been more forceful in seeking compensation and justice for its citizens. I am not excusing Anderson - he should be held accountable. However, India should not have allowed him to fly home.

I commend President Obama for negotiating an initial $ 20 B in compensation for those directly affected in our Gulf states.

More towards Bhopal, i don't think anything should excuse a company for mass murder due to neglect, american or foreign country. I hope in the near future the families and even country effected seek justice for what Union Carbide did. It would be nice to know that any and all CEO/s of Union Carbide are all living a life of poverty if not behind bars.

How ever what i can do as physical evidence is drive around my home town, and others towns alike that are still to this day blue roofed homes from Hurricane Ike, I've worked in towns right off the Gulf coast where people to this day say due to the oil spill their out of business. Not everyone gets the help they need like the controlled media would have you believe.

I know that people have suffered. Some - not all - have received some compensation. I can't control the disparities. Our original topic was the Bhopal accident and how very little was done to bring justice to the people in India. Once again, India should have been more forceful in seeking justice.

America is trillions of dallars in debt, millions of Americans are loosing there homes, I did, my pets everything..our jobs are being out sourced to other nations, that is waht is going on with America. There are huge protests with thousands of people in the streets that the media ignors. our government is becoming a socialist megapower and Americas middle class is crumbaling.

@SilentPrayingmanTis America's debt has been growing and America's middle class has been crumbling (especially in terms of increasing wealth disparity) since the 1970s. The outsourcing of jobs can't be blamed on other countries or on our own government. It was wealthy American CEOs who sent our good jobs overseas. In many cases (e.g., Bhopal), the benefits for the poor people that received those jobs didn't outweigh the costs. When big business rules the world, everyone gets screwed.

Are the protests you're referring to the Tea Party movement? For perspective, the Peace Protest movement against the Iraq war was the fastest growing and largest protest movement in world history. The Peace Protest movement received less media attention than the Tea Party movement. The Peace Protest movement didn't have an entire news organization (such as Fox News) promoting it's protests. The only time the media ever gives much attention to protests is when there is violence or mass arrests.

@SilentPrayingmanTis I don't disagree with you about the facts, but I was disagreeing about your interpretation. As Jon Stewart said (to paraphrase), "If Obama is a socialist by giving tons of money to banks, he is dyslexic." I suppose you could define corporatism as socialism for the rich or as others have said: profits are privatized while losses are socialized. Bush's motivations were obvious as he came from a wealthy business family, but I don't know what Obama's motivations are.

@SilentPrayingmanTis It's hard for me to take a comment like this seriously. Like Bush, Obama is a convert to Christianity. Obama isn't a Muslim. I've never heard of any evidence that he ever was a Muslim. He grew up in Hawaii which isn't exactly known for it's Muslim culture and he was raised by his white American mother. As for a one world order, I don't know if Obama supports such ideas. As far as I can tell, he hasn't enacted policies that are overtly supportive of a one world govt.

Americans are a contradiction. The good doesn't disprove nor rationalize the bad. Anyways, I was talking about the view of the average American. America remains a country with racist tendencies. All Western countries treat eachother different than they treat developing countries with dark-skinned people.
