The first 10 years of KNOTS were beyond brilliantly written and acted. From the first with Sid's death, to Gary's affair with Abby, to Wolfbridge, to Cigi/Cathy, to Joshua's demise, to Val's 'dead" twins, to Peter's death here, and on to Jill's descent into madness. It was all "just can't take your eyes off of it" television. After the Val/Jill story wrapped this show changed course and strayed too far away from the core group and just went downhill to the end.
You have absolutely hit the nail on the head. From a fantastic, entertaining series, this particular episode stands out as the true zenith of excellent writing, directing, acting, etc.!! Abby's struggle for the entire hour in hiding and burying the body still makes me laugh in delight! Loved it! Thanks for posting and acknowledging this stand-out 10 minutes. Couldn't agree more.
What I love about this show is that there are so many "this is the best story line" comments and they are all correct. This show was consistently smart, taut and always a step ahead year after year after year.
After all the hard work of moving Peter's body, Abby still managed not to sweat, her make up was intact and she only managed to get a blood stain in one area of her clothing, which she could cover nicely with her jacket.
That was one of the best plots of Knots, if not the best. Seeing Donna Mills / Abby pulling Peter's body still provokes such a thrill. So erotic actually. Donna Mills made this really work... Maybe the season should have stopped when Abby find Olivia over Peter's body. I was so shocked when I first saw this episode...
Great writing! One woman leaning over a bloody corpse, another drying her hands with a paper towel. Each thinks the other one did it! The story could have gone anywhere from this point. See why Knots Landing was my favorite show of all time?! It put everyday people in unusual circumstances that actually COULD happen to anybody.
This was a great way to spice up what could have been just an ordinary murder storyline. I was sorry to see Peter go b/c I thought he was an interesting character. I heard the character was created b/c Bill Devane planned to leave when his contract was up and Peter could naturally assume the role of male villain; obviously, when Devane decided to stay, they no longer needed Peter so they killed him.
Terrific cliffhanger - one with great imagination, great writing and great acting (especially from Donna Mills). Plus great accompanying music. No wonder the show won an Emmy with this. It's like a thriller motion picture. Wonderful stuff!
Paige pushed Peter during an argument and he fell on that spindle. Abby thought Olivia did it, Olivia thought Abby did it. Abby hid the body, but when it was discovered, everyone thought Olivia did it so Abby confessed to protect her. It later came out that Paige did it
Hey! Steve Shaw is in this one! I always thought he was a good actor, it makes me sad to think he's dead. He really looked like Michele Lee. It was always believeable their character's were related.
Abby was awesome. And Donna made her awesome.
