  • Sokolov actually survived it. Have you played Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops? It reveals that Sokolov somehow survived the torture.

  • Yeah, it´s weird. It doesn´t reveal exactly how he survived, just that he did. Then he was saved by MPO´s main antagonist and forced to build Granin´s Metal Gear.

  • That´s what everybody assumed until Portable Ops came along. Kojima doesn´t feel inclined to explain the story anymore.
