In a nutshell, countries like Tunisia, Palestine, Lebanon, Libya and maybe a couple others have many more social, political and economic rights than they do in the gulf monarchies or in Iraq since the overthrow of the Baathist regime, for example. Hussein's regime was treated women far better than the bulk of the parties and militias have since 2003.
