  • I'm playing Bartley. So funny :) I love it. I;m doing at The Fort Thatre, Bishopbriggs, Glasgow, Scotland from the 11th to the 15th October 2011. Wish me luck ! Best play ive been in to date.

  • i thought the play sucked personally characters were kinda dull not very good acting and it just made the whole thing boring :\

  • @apoli159q Your post is ignorant and idiotic.

  • The film referred to is MAN OF ARAN.

  • Im actually in love with Aaron Monaghan!! I saw him in Playboy of the western world and Christ Deliver Us! Cant wait to see him again!!!!! :D

  • I've been asked to play Billy, and I am shitting myself. I can't act to save my life.

  • "Ireland mustn't be such a bad place so,if the Yanks want to come to Ireland to do their filmin'"!!

McDonagh has a savage eye that reads the irish pysche so accurately. This is an imporatnt play to see how the irish as a nation see themselves the microcosm of Inismaan.

Druid ,again, have done a great job.

  • Johnny Pateen is the best written character ever ...after Caligula.

  • @Arsenaloid says: "Johnny Pateen is the best character ever..after Caligula

A Very strong statement!!!Please elaborate..why you think so

  • @teee2 Elaborate ? Bravo !

  • I saw it in the Lowry in Manchester, well Salford to be precise, but I thought it was wonderful! How good was Johnny Pateen Mike? Anyone know his name?

  • Yeah, Johnny Pateen was played by a guy called David Pearse - wasn't he just brill!

  • It was a stagey Oirish minstrel show. It's completely unreal. I couldn't believe it was being presented as serious drama.

  • @hiseminencegris Somehow I doubt you're from rural Ireland anyway, so I'm not sure what you're basing that assessment on.

The whole 'There's nothing real about McDonagh' jab always pisses me off. Such a wonderful playwright. One of the greatest things about him is that what he's writing isn't realism, but it's not completely divorced from reality either.

There is plenty real about a play like The Beauty Queen of Leenane. And nothing stage Irish about it.

  • @allonoddy Incidentally, I saw the Druid Beauty Queen when I was about nine, the premiere in Galway and I still remember it very well indeed! A sign of a good play done well.

  • Martin McDonagh, what a legend, best play ave seen in a long while. and Aaron Monaghan was bril;l, top actor!!!

  • Great show and great to see it touring to so many places.I caught it in Portlaoise. Looking forward to seeing The Walworth Farce again. Another great play!
