"Alright, alright I apologize. I'm really, really sorry. I apologize unreservedly. I offer a complete and utter retraction. The imputation was totally without basic in fact and was in no way fair comment and was motivated purely by malice and I deeply regret any distress that my comments may have caused you or your family and I hereby undertake not to repeat any such slander at any time in the future."
Oh, John Cleese... was he, by any chance, held up by any means other than the feet around Kline's neck and Kline's hands on his legs? I would be quite impressed, and slightly afraid for the man's life, if he was not.
Yes, if you look carefully, you can see the wires up his trousers, and the dolly he's strapped to is hidden by his arms. He said it only took two takes to get the scene right, and he was scared out of his wits. It's worth getting the 20th anniversary version, which has the rehearsal for this scene, among many other wonderful bits.
I'm sure that must be the other way around. This movie came out in 1988, long before YouTube and before the internet was more than a curiosity for geeks.
its so funny when they show this scene in the documentary about a fish called wanda because they did it for real and they did three takes and the directors says the first take was the better one.
oh, how i love this movie

Wow, Kevin Kline must be strong to hold up John Cleese! He's 6'5.
tpfang56 1 year ago
@tpfang56 They probably used some kind of harness rather than relying on Mr Kline's strength (for safety reasons)

Ehmm.... Those people in the background. Did they knew that there was a movie being made or not?
They`re looking a little surprised.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
to see where they got the inspiration for this scene from, search for "venomfangx apologises to the internets"
dreadpiratedan 2 years ago
I'm relatively certain that a movie released in 1988 wouldn't have a scene inspired by a video on youtube. (which first came about in 2005)

The crowd gathering in the background is such a nice subtle touch.
johnbohl 2 years ago 40
@johnbohl Hehe, I don't think it is as much intentional as it is a consequence of filming a window from the outside and dangling a man out of it.
