  • Just happened to my 321 subwoofer, only thing that needs to be soldered is where the power comes in (exactly the same location as in your video). What kind of solder should i use? and can this be accomplished by a first time solderer? lol

  • @LTNY928 Awesome - glad you found this video! It seemed to have helped quite a bit of other people with similar issues. I would say any solder you can buy at your typical hardware store should work to be honest. Also, yes, a first timer could do this as well. If you search my videos, I have another video posted on how to solder wires... you can basically use the same technique as that, coupled with this one. IF you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

  • @PCAddictsLive Funny you mentioned the wire soldering video, watched that one too haha. Thanks for the advice, much appreciated, definitely helpful! Last question, what type of solder should I use? i have some rosin core solder, and an alloy 40 tin 50 lead solder.

  • @LTNY928 No problem, glad the videos/info is able to help someone else out. I asked my Dad for his advice regarding the solder question specifically: Rosin core would work fine. It's sort of against the law to use lead solder anymore (not big deal as long as it's not used on water systems). Also don't breathe in the fumes from the lead solder.

  • i love fixing cold solders!!!!! if you can find them

  • @omfgg3tlost HAHA so true... so true, takes so much time looking for 'em.

  • hey thanks for the video. i recently plugged mine into an outlet with too much power and it blew my fuse. i replaced it and there is power to the control unit but there is no sound until i unplug the system and it blurts out sound for a split second then powers off. any suggestions??

  • I have a very similar Bose sub, its 110v and i moved to another country so now i plugged it in a 220v plug and it didnt work! i'm wondering if its not working because it needs an adapter? (220v to 110v) or its just burnt? .. and if it is burnt, is it possible for it to be repaired? :( .. thanks in advance.

  • "rca" ..excuse my crappy keyboard skills..

  • My Fricken Hero! :) Thanks buddy! -not to burden you with Quality control: but the receiver hub for the Freestyle unit ( same as cinemate. etc..: The Left Analog rcs input 'cold-soldered itself right off the wee circuit board. -!!- Tried to re-solder and still won't work. grrr... I'm guessing "Remove/clean/replace" ..rinse, repeat,,, -Hope for success. Otherwise, can you assist in creating a bose-flavored neutron bomb? I would appreciate. :) Thanks! lol

  • My plug(speakers jack) fails,i have two subwoofers, one failed on left side and one failed on the right side, how do i fix it?now my two woofers have only 1 speakerjack left of each :( HELP!

  • @o0DeathStrike0o ouch.. not good... not sure... can you take a pic of it for me?

  • @o0DeathStrike0o usually it has weak solder joints on the board, some re-soldering can fix that(in most cases)

  • Interesting. I will look into this with my LifeStyle

  • You are welcome - good luck with repairing it, it should be fairly simple. Please let me know how it goes :)

  • Thank you for posting this video! I'm having the same problem with my sub( it sparks and smokes when plugged in) and I thought we might have to get rid of it. I'm going to try this and see if it works. Plus it was a good excuse to buy a new soldering iron. :)

  • I'm not getting any power to my 321 Media Center, I saw where someone said to replace the fuse in the sub. Where is the fuse located?

  • I found one of those 123 into a garbabe ! it is complete, even the remote and wires ! . but it doesn't switch on... i will try this and keep you informed !

  • @gonzalle Wow, awesome find! Hopefully they work! Ya, let me know please!

  • I have the bose 321 also but mine model is different than this. When I got it from a friend, and connect everything according to the manual, I notice that the acoustismass did not put out much of the sound, I can hear it but very low. the other 2 sat speaker is working fine. Can you tell me what is wrong with mine

acoustismass module? can you help me please. Thank you.

  • I don't have the 321 Sub-woofer but the 2002 Bose sub-woofer Series III that recently broke down. It started to smoke and make a load humming noise. Is it the same problem that you went through, and can I fix it what it shown in the video?

  • @thenguyen1 Sounds similar - but I can't say for sure. What I would do is take it apart, and look at all the solder joints closely - I mean real close... look for "cold" solder joints (cracked - losing connection). This is common in electronics - I have had to resolder a lot of things in my life because of this, including plasma tvs, a lot of copy machines, etc...

  • Thanks so much for the repair video...thought the Bose system was dead. Followed your repair advice and now it works perfectly.

  • @ericcartman3001 Your welcome, glad I was able to help ya out.

  • Greetings from Ecuador... I have a Bose Lifestyle 48 that suddenly stops sounding from the cubesabe speakers and the bassmodule too... There is video and sound issuing from the media center (since I plug my headphones in the side-headphone-plugin and I get audio)... So I guess the problem is in the bass module. What the problem could be?... Fuse? How do I get to the fuse?... Thanks !

  • hmmm Remove solder before with a special pump and redo a new solder .. it's better that way. so you will no have old solder on the board.

  • @vegcrable You are probably right. I have only used one of them solder suckers and the braided copper wire things a couple of times. I really should try one of them one day. :)

  • what kinda solder iron u use? damn that thing is nice!!

  • @lawnside82 Thanks, I just used an old soldering "gun" - (people here don't like the fact I used it lol - but I have been soldering crap for many many many years, and as long as you don't hold it on too long, it's all good... no direct chips are on the circuit I was soldering anyways, just some plastic).

  • A soldering gun is not a suitable too for that job. You should use a 20W or 25W pencil type soldering iron.

  • thank you thank you thank you!!!! i had the same problem with my 321 system and repaired it myself because of this video which saved me a ton of cash. thanks again!!

  • @johnsgoonies Sweet! Glad I could help! I was bummed out at first too thinking I would have to possibly fork out a ton of cash for a new system.

  • cool lol

  • Wow, wth, just noticed the audio is out of sync... it wasn't just the other day... wth happened.. lol

  • lead free solder sucks, thats why you had those csj. Thats my major fix on big screen tvs that i find on the side of the road. Congrats on doing it yourself! :) check out the CC on this video, do the audio translation, its hilarious.

  • the auto captions are totally random nonsense lol

  • I don't even see the CC option now... and the stupid audio is now out of sync (wasn't the other day)

  • Is it possible to use any bigger of a tip on that solder gu - he he.....

  • HAHAHA I know, huh? I have smaller irons, but they take too long to heat up. SInce it was just the power connector and other connector, no problem.

  • @Mauldor you should see their iron for sunglass windows, lol now thats a huge tip!
