  • This is far and away my favorite tele tone I've ever heard. THANKS for posting this. I actually found it a while ago, lost it, then just found it again today - I was relieved. I'm in the process of building a tele, and this is my benchmark.

  • @AdamJohnSwenson Thanks, glad you like it!

  • I'm baby sitting my dad's '75 Princeton Reverb. They're great little amps!

  • Lovely full round tone. :) Can't beat a sweet Fender clean. To me that's the test of a truly top amp. Clean doesn't allow anything to be hidden, and if it's right, you don't use pedals.

One of happiest memories of playing in Vancouver Canada 10 years ago was the morning I played on a Princeton Reverb. The tone made me want to cry it was so beautiful. It is an amp to be possessed, that's for sure!

  • I think this is the best princeton reverb demo I've seen on youtube. Great amp, great guitarist, great sound quality. What kind of recording equipment did you use? Also, just after the 0:23 mark, it sounds like Josh is bending the neck of the guitar. Was that how he did it, or was there some kind of vibrato system installed on the guitar?

  • Thanks for your feedback, mate. Unfortunately I'm not familiar with Josh's recording setup. However, I should mention again he used the Possumcaster pickups made by Dave Stephens (sdpickups). They are fabulous. And yes, he sure does bend the neck like hell at about 25 seconds into the video.

  • @spaceguitars Thanks! I recently bought a '76-princeton reverb myself (now converted to blackface). This video was one of the reasons why I wanted that particular amp. I was a bit in doubt whether I should blackface it or not, considering how good this silverface sounds, but in the end, I preferred the blackface sound.

  • I don't know what it is about the Fender Princeton. It seems to have this majical mystcal tone to it. It seems like such an intimate amp. One day I hope to own one all my own. I plan on locking myself away and start playing for hours just like when I was younger.

  • Woooooow, that is such an amazing wonderfully clear sound of electric guitar, it's like a fresh breeze of spring, its the clear pacific ocean waters washing your face and carrying you away into the deep blue.....i'm reborn!

  • @ppericodelosppalotes Thanks, mate! This is maybe the sweetest comment I've ever received on this tune. I greatly appreciate it. Thanks and take care

  • I have a '71. I am going to try those tubes.

I haven't done anything to mine since I got it in '85. (Except a speaker.) I have been using it for gigs in small rooms, the tone is killer.

  • Added to the list of amps I want to own. a 72.

  • Sort of mesmerising...

Listen to the TONE! @ 0:18

That neck must have been bending a wee bit ol

  • I have one too. Perfect for small gigs.

  • Nice , have one and love it . Big silverface rev fender amp fan .

  • Phenominal sounding amp.

  • Your video unique and beautiful.

    I like it.

  • I need help buying tubes for this amp could you help me out?

  • These are the tubes you need for a full set. 1x 5U4GB, 2x 6V6GT, 3x 12AX7, 1x AT7.

If you happen to find older RCA or GE brand tubes, go for that. But if you buy new ones, I highly recommend Tung-Sol. They're great.

  • @spaceguitars Mine takes a 7025 also.

  • Thanks for your comment. The 7025 preamp tube is a low-noise variant of the 12AX7. Other common designations for this type of tube are ECC83, 12AX7A, 6681, etc. There are quite a bit of derivates on the market with different noise and gain levels.

  • @Zachtheguitarist123 HI Zach I have a silverface princeton amp with tremolo, reverb and an overdrive pull switch. No idea how old. The transformer has blown and speaker needs replacing. Any idea what transformer/speaker I need and where to get it from? Thanks

  • Great tone man, funny vid too. I have a chance to trade my deluxe for a 70's princeton reverb in mint condition, I think i'm gonna go for it

  • If you have a RI Deluxe, go for it. Within the '70s, 1970 to 1972 are my favourite Princeton Reverb years. Rembember, Fender introduced the dreadful 'Pull/Boost' volume control sometime in 1977. Although they sound very good if the wanna-be distortion is not engaged, avoid them because they don't have the same market value as their earlier brothers.

  • Another great post! You sound like a classic rock guy. Very nice video dude.

  • Killer video. Killer guitar sound! But you know.... there is more to life than guitars! There's Surf Music, 1st Nations (Native American) themes, Spanish Music, East Indian influenced music!! You'd be good at doing videos for those styles. I just know it! 5 stars for this one! ~GK

  • Thank you very much. Reading your words is very rewarding. Maybe I should let my wife see this :-D Yeah, why not look into different styles and themes. Hahaha, my guitar playing ability ought to be eqully good as my poetic writing skills..... Thank you!

  • Thanks a lot, King. Yeah, sometimes details matter. I should get a copyright slogan on that one..... Take care

  • Ultra cool.

  • Thank you, Sir. I truly appreciate your comment.

  • LOVE that tone!!

  • Totally awesome tone! Thanks for posting this clip.

  • i play a 1972 fender with 1972 princton
