The way notes are played are how they are catergorized, the Black musicians were the first to play notes in the fashion that made R&R. Led Zepplin was heavily criticized on their first 2 albums for ripping off black musicians music. I didn't make the history, check it out.

Take out Page or JPJ's arrangements and playing ability and it's not the same. Take out Plant's lyrics of Vikings, LOTR, his dog Strider ( Bron Y Aur Stomp ) & it's not the same, take out Bonham's drumming, especially his right foot and it's not the same. 4 guys equaled magic, take one out, probably average.
If I would have seen any part of this clip without knowing beforehand who it was, I wouldn't have known it was Jimmy Page. I understand he is getting up there in years, but look at someone like Pete Townshend. His age shows, but there is no doubt it's Townshend. I really am surprised at how much Jimmy Page's looks have changed since I last saw him. But I give him and his peers credit for still doing their thing at this phase of their lives.

I can't really say that. I saw some footage of him in the 1980's (Zep reunion with Phil Collins drumming for instance) and even though he looked a little bloated he still was recognizable. I saw clips of the benefit for Ronnie Lane and videos of "The Firm" with Paul Rodgers, same thing.
After around '94 or thereabout ("No Quarter" video with Robert Plant, date escapes me) I lost track of him until now.

Page looks like the elder statesman of rock and roll now. In a weird way, the white hair makes him look even more guitar god-like and wizard-like.

Then they used satanic influence to "give them power" to further their careers. Ripped off their music and then sold their souls, I don't consider that great. Some of the music is good, but it's hard to get past the source of their songs.

@blite13 You're a complete and total idiot. Elvis pioneered the rock genre, furthering what Roberts did. The Beatles came up with some of the most original material ever made, with late cd's sounding like a whole different band than the early ones. All music rips off of others, because they are all made of the same things. Read a book, all that changes is diction and characters. They all have the same basic story. You have a misunderstanding of what art is, and most of those artists are agnostic

Besides he seems to have admitted that he did , but he still is one of the great artist in Rock of all time . Elvis ripped off the Black Man's blues? Why does it belong to a race? If you follow that logic, everyone rips off of the very first blues band. Music is a set of modes and scales. Playing one note is instantly ripping off of the first musician, because they played that note.

@GibbyCanes If you had any knowledge, you would know that Rock and Roll came from the Black musicians in the early 50's. The way notes are played are how they are catergorized, the Black musicians were the first to play notes in the fashion that made R&R. Just because a movie (Back to the future) gives the white man credit for R&R, doesn't mean it is true. Led Zepplin was heavily criticized on their first 2 albums for ripping off black musicians music. I didn't make the history, check it out.

@blite13 And if you had any knowledge you would know that the 12 bar form of music, which IS the blues, originated around the time of Henry VIII. A little later Irish fiddlers were developing 12 measure "ditties", minus the harmonic changes around 1620. It became "The Blues" when the Black field workers started putting words about their struggle to the well known arrangements. I LOVE the Blues by the way, I play a lot of BB King, Freddie King, R Johnson , etc... but music didn't originate there.

@sharpclay It was a unique situation where the whole was greater than the sum of it's parts. They all needed each other to make it work and they all contributed immensely. Take out Page or JPJ's arrangements and playing ability and it's not the same. Take out Plant's lyrics of Vikings, LOTR, his dog Strider ( Bron Y Aur Stomp ) & it's not the same, take out Bonham's drumming, especially his right foot and it's not the same. 4 guys equaled magic, take one out, probably average.

If I would have seen any part of this clip without knowing beforehand who it was, I wouldn't have known it was Jimmy Page. I understand he is getting up there in years, but look at someone like Pete Townshend. His age shows, but there is no doubt it's Townshend. I really am surprised at how much Jimmy Page's looks have changed since I last saw him. But I give him and his peers credit for still doing their thing at this phase of their lives.

@5jerry1 Thing about Jimmy is he's looked pretty much like this since '79.When Plant had his car crash and Zep went off the radar for a bit ('77 - ish) he looked like he does in 'The Song Remains The Same' but when they came back for the Knebworth shows in '79 he suddenly looked very different.What happened there?Maybe it was coming off the smack or something.

I can't really say that. I saw some footage of him in the 1980's (Zep reunion with Phil Collins drumming for instance) and even though he looked a little bloated he still was recognizable. I saw clips of the benefit for Ronnie Lane and videos of "The Firm" with Paul Rodgers, same thing.
After around '94 or thereabout ("No Quarter" video with Robert Plant, date escapes me) I lost track of him until now.
I seriously would have never known it was him.

@Berserkedy He looks older than his age because of the white hair and lines on his face, but I think he looks better than Plant does, which is odd because Plant is younger. Page looks like the elder statesman of rock and roll now. In a weird way, the white hair makes him look even more guitar god-like and wizard-like.

It's unfortunate that they didn't take better care of themselves when they were younger, but at least they're still alive. Page is very stylish for his age and looks like an elegant man, but Plant has been described as looking like the Cowardly Lion. Yikes....
