  • why aren't there any subtitles?

  • ashadharon

  • Excellent Superb Tanks for sharing. Tagore150yrs

  • If that is so I'll be honoured as I have faced criticism for having this view.

  • Simply awesome, superb!!!

    FRS

  • In the later part of his life Ray probably felt more spiritual- understood those other forces-- probably. This film is entirely different from all other films of his. Each word uttered by Utpal Dutta makes me think whether RAy is asking these questions to himself. Like " Ke debe alo, Ke debe pran" The character's confrontation with the lawyer ( Dhritiman Chattopadhyay) is the essence of the movie. Outstanding.

  • @lahiridilli Was it spiritual or a kind of frustration with the system, that continues to remain stuck up even today...am wondering...spiritualism did not easily come to theses people - especially those from my grandfather's batch +/- a few years..

  • Tagore is a very great poet and composer.

  • @pandulche great you understood finally!!!!!! Idiot!

  • @boiragirules

why don't you go perform autofellatio, you bitch licker?

  • Outstanding movie. but i felt that Ray was a little confused......probably not able to fathom the new way of living.....dialogues like nesa na nasa etc. But the world has to progress and with any progress we'll have to carry some extra baggage. I felt this way.... probably i'll understand better some day.

  • Ray's progressiveness need not be confused with the character in the character. In fact, the character indeed is so typical ...of "self made" individuals who has been away from his roots for a best part of his life...a certain mindset / belief system that the develop is quite different from the typical "family man".

    Ray was neither.

  • Outstanding song and movie,I've ever seen.

  • this film is SO awesome! it's such a smart script and there's so much depth and wisdom in the dialogue. it feels like a truly mature film, not one that a young man can make.

  • Oshadharon.....

ki kotha... ki shur aar ki gayoki... couldn't have been done any better... puro ganer ontornihito nirjash jeno beriye ashchey... the song is the king... and nothing else. Kobiguru and Satyajit... Bangla and Bengali's unforgettable gem ever

  • ray is great no doubt....... but aguntuk makes him greater............. this song is fantastic, absolutely wonderful lip by mamata sankar....

  • AGONTUK ...is very nice film by Satyajeet..

but it seems much more nice in his book " ARO BARO" .there itz called "ATITHI" ...thaks for uploading this nice song =)

  • wasnt this saong sung by Mamata Shankar herself?

  • As far as my knowledge goes its srimana guhathakurata (playback)

  • It was Sromona Guhathakurta

  • agantuk....to me the best of Ray's films....this song is wonderful...but the dialogues...matchless!

  • Each of Ray's films document an entirely different aspect - rural Bengal, detective, contemporary Calcutta, folktales, stories...Each of them is an masterpiece in that genre. Any idea how he rated this film of his ?

  • I believe he did not get much chance.

But this film falls far short in quality than his own extraordinary high standard previous works.

  • i wouldn't say this film fell in quality at all.

  • Gautam - do you attribute this to his failing health during the make of this movie?

  • darun gaan! ami ekta blog baniechi with rabindrasangeet videos and lyrics IN BENGALI script... link-ta amar profile-e ache... if u guys visit and correct any lyrics errors that will be great... kobiguru rocks :-)

  • i cudnt find it...pls can u post the link here

  • darun gaan!

  • Aha..aha...

  • I have a CD of Rano Guhathakurta singing seven of Tagore's songs. His voice is so warmly expressive that it's hard for me now to hear past it. But this is such an evocative rendering of this song by Sromona Sen that it's a true joy to listen to.

  • simply love it,this movie is unique, love this song and love the dance of the santhals

  • Satyajit Ray should have directed singers to sing and publish records of RabindraSangeet. We would have gotten many such gems from not-so-great singers! A genius, as he was, he used to reach to the very core of the songs and was able to bring in the proper "ras" of the song from the singer every time, without fail.

The song is very well sung here, in a movie which may not be nowhere near Satyjit-babu's own extraordinary high standard.

  • utpal dutta was one of the finest actors .. his performance over a myriad of roles is peerless.

  • beautiful

  • Such a haunting melody... ti seeps rite into ur hrt..

  • Raga Jhinjhoti... but probably the best song ever written based on this raga - by a very young poet and composer!

  • Great film
