Hey!!! This was right on the brink of good music videos from MTV; and reality shows from MTV. You be the judge!!! Later...

  • @eliblue159 Yeah, but back then it wasn't like it is now. MTV was still music, it was fun, and it was almost always the good stuff... and beavis and butthead. This was all happening at the beginning of my teen years. I'm always so thankful that this music was coming out as I transitioned from grade school into middle school. Such an impressionable age and was lucky enough to have this music. Best memories ever. :)

  • @staind420 That would be amazing! I wish they did too:)

  • @staind420 Blind Melon did an Intimate & Interactive special on Much Music back in '95. Also, you can find it as a bootleg. ;)

  • im pretty sure the song in named change and the album blind melon or is that just some weird thing that British people do?

  • 1995 i was born that year

  • what year did he die? I want to know if I was born then.

either way, this guy is my idle. my hero. hippie chief!

  • Comment removed

  • In 1995, and he always said he wasn't a hippie because hippies don't hate, and Shannon definitely hated some people

Great shot of them playing relaxed in this one

  • @shady0brady he pissed on a bunch of people when he was on lsd at one of the woodstocks. they booed him off stage. haha

  • @xraycat12 - The only show he pissed on the front row of a crowd was at Vancouver. Not sure what you're talking about - the 2nd Woodstock they were at they had a great show even though he was tripping his face off

  • @xraycat12 - They were only at the 2nd woodstock, the band wasn't around for the first and I've seen the whole show for woodstock 2. The only time he pissed or did something that retarded was in Canada 1 time

  • @butkicker75 i belive he died in 1995 from a herion over dose dude 1 year after i was born i think lol

  • I LOVE blind melon i growing up listening this music!!! i even remember when sharon die was a very sad day!!!

  • such an influential person....amd great artist.

  • great song! peace & love!

  • Peace, Love & Shannon Hoon ;)

  • Thanks for posting!!!

  • It's extremely sad Shannon could never get clean. Guy was talented.

  • ya..he was really talented. it wouldnt have been AS bad if he had wanted to die.. but he accidently killed himelf so that makes it even more sad.

  • personally, i think it would have been MORE sad if he wanted to die. that would've made it worse, i think.

  • rly? but if he wanted to die then atleast he got wat he wanted

  • Peace and Love!

  • this is the best performance of Change I have ever heard . . . even tho all of them are great : ) RIP Shannon

  • first of all lets get one thing straight, no one killed shannon. he suffered from drug abuse, that he dealt with for many years. no one can sit here and point the finger at him. he was a man with great talent. he just wasnt strong enough to kick the habit. he didnt kill himself or choose to die the way he did. remember the man for what he brought to your life. blind melon and shannon were apart of my generation and their music brought something to my life. respect the man. YOUR ARE MISSED.

  • Well said sir.... sean (i.e themaynes)

  • @defecktsean im a woman, but thanks anyways.

  • hahaha sorry! i saw frank and you know!! yeh yeh ..to assume makes an ass of u and me..but y'know sorry again..

  • i worked at the club he was suppossed to play the day he died. i dont care what he died from. He was such an amazing talent, he is truly missed. sorry New Orleans killed him...

  • Shannon would be 42 in some days :(

  • Shannon, If 14 years ago tonight you didn't go on that 12 hour coke binge, You would've been there the next morning to maybe watch the puddles gather rain.

  • who else died from this heroin that killed Shannon....?

  • Bradley Novell........Sublime, starting the tour of the only album, sublime-sublime, he was clean for about a year and while celebrating one of their shows somebody offer him dope, couple of days later he was dead.....

  • Nowell

  • kurt cobain, layne staley

  • Shannon died from a cocaine overdose

  • No he didn't audgates. He died from a speedball. Cocaine and Heroin.HE as up all night doing coke and in the morn did a speedball which put him over the edge. I am so tired of people arguing over how he died. Enjoy his amazing voice and talent. Ir at least get your fats strait.

  • Someone is being a jerk. If you choose to belittle me on Youtube then please proofread what you write because you come off ignorant.

Other than that, you could have really had a valid point. I do enjoy Blind Melon.

Don't be such a jerk to people on Youtube. This is an avenue for people to learn a lot more about music than they would have otherwise never known. You could have simply said "No, it was a speedball". done and done.

  • you think 'm a jerk, ok then. Go check out my other response on a Blind Melon video and look at how many people applauded me for what i said. Which was basically the same thing I said here. I get mad cause of every effin blind melon video on youtube people are arguing about how he died and they are wrong and more importantly should be enjoying the brilliant song writing and singing of Shannon, not arguing over death.

  • I've never heard anyone mention the speed ball. It was cocaine. He had done heroien before, but coke is what did him in.

I really don't care though, it's all about the music.

  • Shannon didn't die from heroin.

  • Yeah no shit cocaine and heroin=speedball. No one said it was just heroin. He died from a Speed Ball. He was on a coke binge and a speed ball did him in early in the morning. Jesus just give it a rest and enjoy his amazing voice and song writing ability. Tee world lost an amazing singer and person that day and we should remember him for what he was not how he died, or didn't die for that matter.

  • I didn't say anything about it just being Heroine. I've never heard anyone ever mention a speedball. Back up your facts or stop spreading misinformation.

  • Jesus give it a rest. Its a fact. People who know and knew about blind melon know it was a speedball at the end that put him over the edge. And its spelled Heroin.

  • Thanks for pointing out my spelling error. Stupid mistake, I know how to spell heroin. Guess I wasn't paying attention. I won't argue anymore. I'll just agree to disagree, and keep listening to the music. I wish his death wasn't largely ignored by the media, then there would be no room for argument.Anyhoon, I'm sorry for not moving on sooner.

  • The thing I love about Blind Melon the most is that they weren't like every other band in which every other song was a love song or a song which had nearly no meaning. The guys in blind melon wrote about the things people usually don't write about. Like what they feel inside and what they stand for, and theyre overall emotion. All of Melon's songs have incredibly deep lyrics, and by far the deepest lyrics ive ever heard and seen in my life. Blind Melon was incredibly underrated in their time.

  • so underated.... look at who was selling more albums at the time. most are punchlines now. blind melon's music is timeless.....

  • @KRHSlax29 I definitely agree with you. I didn't cry when Layne Staley died. I didn't cry when Kurt Cobain died. I bawled my ass off when Shannon Hoon left.

  • @KRHSlax29

listen to alice in chains or mad season then, some great lirycs there too.

  • @KRHSlax29 I couldnt agree with you more, you really hit the nail on the head there.

  • For the love of all humanity, can someone PLEASE crop the annoying host out of the beginning of the video?

  • he's fuckin' alive!

  • and he has a twin XD

  • this song gives me chills everytime, no exaggeration. only when it's live, though, lol.

  • KRHslax29 sorry you were not around to experience them back in the day.

  • Don't feel sorry for me, for I know what the good side of music is. Feel sorry for the people of my generation who don't know what good, true music is.

  • that commercial scream thing at the end totally ruins the feeling... hahahah but anyway fucking amazing song, im 15, and its my favorite. If only people of my generation knew good music

  • if only if only...

  • i feel the same way, man.

  • @KRHSlax29 im 17 and I'm with you. We're out there, we just gotta rise up and get to the majority like nirvana did :)

  • @KRHSlax29 thats true man...if all you youngsters actually had the talent that me and my generation had growing up then i think music in general would be much better than the juvenile government approved garbage that is played these days

  • @roachable Man Ive said it before and I will say it again its not the kids of todays fault its the guys in charge of the record companies which are now generation x im 18 I discovered all this shit when I was just bored a couple years ago lol now its all I listen too and I dont think im so special that I'm the one in a million of generation y who likes it lol if people knew they would love it.

  • @KRHSlax29 Clearly, some of them do...Rock on, Kid!

  • tONES OF HOME.

  • if a candle that burns twice as bright , it burns twice as fast, but lasts twice as long in our hearts and minds. Andrew Wood, Shannon Hoon, Kurt Cobain, Layne Staley, burned twice as bright.

  • "I know we can't all stay here forever, so I'll write my words on the face of today"...-Shannon Hoon

  • This song, and the album it came from, mean more to me than I could ever express. I was 20 years old at the time. I used to listen to it on the cassette player in my car during the cold winter months in Albany. I never thought I would change.

  • I hear ya man, im 15 and this song has changed my life just as many of melons songs have. everything of theirs is extremely deep and i can drastically relate to it

  • am i the only one who thinks that, judging from their music, shannon hoon doesnt seem like the type of guy who would be addicted to coke. i mean yeah, their second album u could tell, from both the lyrics and their live shows from late 91-early 94, but their last few shows, he seemed relatively normal(compared to some of their shows where he was obviously fucked up) and it didnt seem like he'd kill himself. but then again, neither did kurt or layne

  • Kurt seemed pretty suicidal and depressed to me before the addiction. Pretty sure he just hates most of the world. But I really think Shannons was an accident. He had a problem, but I don't think he did it because he was sad or anything like that. Always seems like a pretty upbeat, nice guy.

  • true. but like if u watched their last few shows, he seemed pretty together compared to how he was for most of their career. he rarely seemed high and when he was, it look like it was more of like a pot high, not cocaine. idk, maybe he had some hidden feelings or something. i know people who met him in 94 and said he seemed really normal compared to how he was at woodstock and shit.

  • kurt was very happy go lucky and funny actually

  • Oh yeah that explains the heroin and shotgun to the face.

    Oh wait...

  • that's something he couldnt control

just because someone does drugs doesnt mean they're depressed

you know nothing on the topic of his life

  • And obviously you knew him personally.

Judging by his lyrics, and a documentary I saw of him just talking for about two hours, he certainly was not "Happy go lucky." It seemed to me he was actually more angry about most things, such as society, journalists, ect. So my point is, he was not as happy as all of his fans would like to think. Heroin is something most people can't control, I'll grant you that, but it also wasn't the entire reason he took his own life.

  • he had a great sense of humor and when he was with his friends and family, according to interviews, he was cheerier than anything else

  • I'm generally an unhappy person, and (not to sound cocky) people consider me pretty entertaining and funny. I'm also happy when I'm with family and friends, it's hard not to be. But what's important is what you think when you're alone, thinking all by yourself. That's who you really are. And no one knows what he thought about when he was alone, about himself, and society. Judging by the shotgun to the face, which was in a way influenced by drugs, those thoughts weren't cheery. Just saying...

  • shotgun to the face?

  • coke and exhaustion, not speed ball, not heroin, just an all night cocaine rampage .

  • I love this song

  • smuck was un called for.

  • wasnt this dudes name andrew,,to bad he dided He even said he didnt want to die,,Its a shame fucking heroin

  • No one in this vid is a called andrew? shannon hoon is the lead singer and he died of a cocaine overdose. ray cokes is the presenter... big loss to music..

  • Heoin. Not coke.

  • coke schmuck

  • pepsi schmuck

  • lol

  • no.. your right.. it was coke. my bad.

  • Comment removed

  • You might be thinking of Andrew Wood from Mother Love Bone. Another way underrated band of the time.

For me Shannon and Andy were two of the greatest. Sadly they had to go too soon....

    R.I.P to both of them.

  • Can someone please cut off this guy's annoying introduction? PLEASE!? Hahaa

  • Poignant.

  • Even though I am Primarily a Metal and Jazz player I hold these guys in tremendous respect... kick ass uke too RIP

  • kick ass *mandolin*

  • this one was great , i think shannon should be kind a icon now , but i think drugs just fucked him when he could give more ...

  • muchas gracias por subir este video.

  • No Rain was the big hit, and I like that song, but I like this one better!

  • There are several live versions of this song on youtube, and I've studied them all, but this is without a doubt, the DEFINITIVE version.

  • I have also seen every possible version of change on youtube! I have to say the letterman one is special though, because of Kurt Cobain. I love all the versions, each is awesome and they'll always mean a lot to me.

  • listen and learn!!

  • Awesome song.

  • i love his improvised lyrics
