Tss tss tss! They are telling about the Emil version of the Bf-109 and on the same time showing Bf-109 Gustavs scoring 4engined US-bombers! What kind of monkeys made this documentary,I ask myself?
Keep your eyes wide open the next time you see a documentary and you'll see filling footage that actually does not relate to the narration given at the moment.
The Email and Gustav had something in common, they both were Bf-109s! a knowledgeable person on the subject as you appear to be can tell the difference right away but it does not give you the right to insult the producers which managed to make a decent documentary.
That makes you a troll and I have no respect for such idiots.
the 109's had the problem of waiting for the Bombers to group up this meant that they had to use up 20 mins of fuel while they waited so 40 mins of fuel for transit plus maybe 10 mins loiter for the bombers . that makes just ten mins fuel for fighting.
@Xiolablu3 Spitfires, and Hurricanes, had the advantage to fight above homeground. Fighting time was longer and if out of fuel or ammo, the flight home was measured in minutes rather than in hours.
@Brera011 Actually I dont totally agree, the flight home for German fighters was about 20 minutes during the BOB, but they only had 1 hours endurance. The channel is only 10-20 miles across. But no doubt they had less loiter time than the raf
The 109 E2 had the 3 canons, but the one firing through the propellor caused issues, so most pilots had it removed, and the following series the E3 did not have it.

The Bf109 had the same range as the Spitfire. This is slightly misleading as it 'suggests' that the Bf109 had a lesser range than the Spit..
Also the Bf109E onlt had 2x20mm cannon in hte wings, none in the prop hub.
