I don't understand how cinematic plagues like The Twilight saga is adored by millions and is always in the spotlight, despite the fact that they're terrible, while modern masterpieces like the Nolan Batman films are just known as the summer blockbusters. Theres so much depth in the batman films that you don't see in other films. They've inspired me as a film major. I just wish the rest of the world understood this as well.

Fact of the matter is Ra's al Ghul is a misguided, and some would say mentally ill person. He is driven mad by all the years he has lived, he's been living too long and seen to much through the Centuries.
do you think ra's al ghul was a good guy? he basically made bruce wayne into a fighting machine and then forced him to confront his demons. and in the process he tried to destroy gotham and in turn, batman was essentially born. what if ra's al ghul did all of this just to turn bruce wayne into batman and transform batman into the hero that he is? in order to do that, ra's would have to actually try to destroy gotham for real and try to kill batman for real. that is the only way.

He just wants to rid the world of criminals and scum but that involes destroying Gotham so he morals and good. @danextbestballa Batman Begins feels more like a comic book film, but that doesn't mean TDK didn't capture the essence of the comics. The influence comics like The Long Halloween and The Killing Joke is very explicit, and though TDK doesn't look like a traditional comic book movie, it's still very much recognizable as Batman.
Like Clark Kent in the original Superman movies, he was funny to watch, the things he'd say, the exaggeration of his deception, as a clumsy, dim-witted, weird and insignificant dude, who is actually a god amongst men.
The best superhero movies show the complex person as they actually are.

Seen this on ABC tonight. I grew up on Batman. He's the greatest character the comic book world has created and will create. Iron Man has been pumped by the media, it's all dry hype. This one here has a history and a future worth remembering.

@theguy782 Fair enough, you know the source pretty well, so it amazes me that you don't see how inaccurate the old films are. Anyway, you evidently missed the point of the new films. They aren't meant to be accurate to the source, they are a more serious, realistic take on the original comics. It's not "hype to feed unaware people", everyone who watches it realizes this is another interpretation of the basic ideas from the comics. If you can't appreciate it, too bad for you.

@jakeharvey Somehow this movie slipped under the radar when it came out. I know I almost didn't see it when it came out because I forgot about it. My mom, who is a Batman fan herself didn't even know that it was ever out until I told her after it came out on DVD. Quite odd, if you think of it. Surprised that a sequel was even made and suddenly everyone had to go out and see it. Batman Begins was a sleeper.

The influence comics like The Long Halloween and The Killing Joke is very explicit, and though TDK doesn't look like a traditional comic book movie, it's still very much recognizable as Batman.

Seen this on ABC tonight. I grew up on Batman. He's the greatest character the comic book world has created and will create. Iron Man has been pumped by the media, it's all dry hype. This one here has a history and a future worth remembering.

I think this movie worked better as a movie than the Dark Knight. Begins has a beginning,middle,and end. Dark Knight kinda just keeps the balls in the air. It felt like a big,long set up for another movie.
